All these long-time fans complain about the Arctic Monkeys' style changing, but fail to realize that change is often necessary for bands. As much as I liked Alex's Humbug-era mop, the guy is 28 years old. He can't look like he did in the "Cornerstone" video forever. You say their music all sounds the same now, but imagine if they were still using the exact same style that they had in earlier albums. Sure, that might be what you'd prefer, but the complaints would come rolling in eventually. Besides, the last thing any of us fans want is for them to get sick of what they're doing and drop out of the music industry entirely. Let's face it - every band undergoes evolution. Personally, I don't mind the change from British indie to American indie. My top favorite Monkeys songs still remain amongst their older albums, but that doesn't mean I despise their new stuff. And if you support this band, you shouldn't either. Alex's greaser look makes him appear more grown up, and I think that's a good thing. He's not a baby anymore.

Their recent music carries a vibe a lot more like a mutated, modernized version of 70's era Rolling Stones than a harder rock band.. I do like the older hard rock tunes they did, but this is good too. I just think it's a bit hypocritical that people will complain about Rock bands not getting mainstream attention, and then bitch when one comes along and sounds like this.. Did they forget that emotions of a groovy, sexual nature are deeply embedded in the roots of Rock music? Thank god bands like The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys haven't. Good for them.
