Issues.... something about that whole tent strikes me as a red flag....

I can tell you that it is impressively waterproof BUT....the ventilation is SO BAD that it will be raining on you if you have to seal this tent up. - Luke

@@TheOutdoorGearReview it could have a better target audience in a cooler more arid climate.... say a nordic snow plain? I like the color coding and pole attachment concepts, but the actual pole architecture is where it started getting (weird?). Then you clipped it together and got the full frame and it was a feeling a kin to being in thick brush and everything going dead silent. Im not much further south than you; that breatheability can be a killer.

@@TheOutdoorGearReview What do you mean by 'seal this tent up'? It seems kind of obvious to me that there is no ventilation if it is sealed up. I have this tent and the ventilation seems good to me but I haven't really used it yet.

I just started watching The Outdoor Gear Review videos and love them! Finally, someone that’s honest and takes gear outside and actually uses it before making a decision on quality. Refreshing. I’m old enough to remember when most 3or 4 season tents were built really well. Do you old timers remember the Sierra Design Stretch Dome? What a great bomb-proof tent, Tetons to Southern Utah to the White Mountains. Snow, rain, sun, it laughed at all the weather…

Chinese guys from Naturehike and 3 FL UL know how to do quality things on a reasonable price. I personally own Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 and it is a wonderful adaptation of the Hilleberg Allak tent - a bit less sturdy, but also much lighter. Have no issues with it during storm winds and night-long rainshowers in tundra. The quality is definitely there - very good level of details and right use of modern materials. I've also bought 3 UL FL Lanshan 1 tent which is a trekking-pole based single person tent which has two layers and weights less than 1 kilo. Haven't used it yet, but have tried to set it up in my backyard - looks like a quality product (I would add some features like guyline tensioners, but this would probably add couple grams). I also own some tarp of this brand - a bit on a heavy side, but sturdy and have a nice reflective bottom which helps during winter nights next to the fire.

I just recently bought a Naturehike tent ( cloud up 3) and really like it for the weight and the fact it's the perfect size for my 3 young kiddos and I when we go backpacking. We wanted to camp last night because it would have been their first overnight in a good down pour but unfortunately we had a few small leaks. Fortunately we were in the back yard so I just threw an extra tarp over it for a quick fix. So just a reminder to check your tent out in a good storm before you take it camping and put yourself In a possible bad situation.

Nice a new video, just in time for dinner. As for my thoughts on naturehike: Overall great products for affordable price, because the price is generally low sometimes it has issues and sometimes they just sell some useless product but when compared with other brands on aliexpress I think naturehike is one of the more dependable ones. It always comes down to reading up and reading peoples reviews and experience before you buy with things shipped from china because there's no easy return most of the time.

@@TomKirkman1 I got lucky when I bought my Enan back in early March of 2020; shortly B4 I bought mine, Hilleberg started sewing Enan's with the same 70D Triple coated Polyurethane floor fabric as has been sewn into Akto's. Earlier versions of the Enan were sewn with a 50D Double coated Polyurethane fabric. HIlleberg still hasn't updated its website to reflect the change in floor fabric for Yellow label tents. I vacillated between the Akto & the Enan for more than a month. My Enan replaces the REI Quarter Dome SL! which I sold on eBay. I got sick & tired of having to deal with attaching a fly to the inner especially in gusty windy conditions that I'm normally dealing with at high elevations in the high Sierras. I am a native Floridian and know that our rain storms aren't like most rainstorms..we often get INCHES of rain in one night, especially where I am from in the North Florida panhandle. I need a no frills yet totally water proof tent. I am on a tight budget or I wouldn't have to worry about a budget friendly tent...but unfortunately..I do. Thanks

Always look forward to your reviews Bro..What would you recommend , in a 2 person tent , with enough room for 1 cot & person and a small amount of gear..Need enough room to sit up on the cot as well..Ease of set up , and needs to be storm proof , so if it rains for 7 days straight , its gonna breathe well & its not gonna leak..I usually use the Alaskan Guide Series 4 man , as it covers most all of these bases , and is serious quality.. But I have a 1981 Mile Solo Canoe Trip in September, and the guide series is a little bulky , a bit of a PITA to take up and down every day & with quickness if needed , & takes a fair amount of time , and requires a good bit of space as well..Got any good ideas ?

Thanks for the channel. When did "four season" tents go to mostly mesh inners? Why? Is it to save weight or are the manufacturers just cutting costs? Thinking about buying a new three man tent. I have a 12 year old 2 man tent, and it has a solid body, with mesh screen doors. Does having mesh inner tent keep the wind and rain off as well? Need a tent that is a bit warmer, camp in 0°c.

Well when it comes to Naturehike their best sellers and most reviewed models are the Vik-1 and the Cloud up 2, which are popular here in Europe with the quasi-light backpackers crowd (I won't even mention the 3F UL lanshans) So the fanbase is growing. You've seen how crappy and heavy our Decathlon tents are. So when Naturehike offers a vik-1 that weights just 1.2 kg for a 1/4 or a 1/5th of the price of an MSR (EU prices) we take the People's Liberation Tent option. You have to understand that importing a US product is quite expensive for us and the recent import/export kerfuffle and tariff wars between Washington and the EU has made it worse. So we now look to the East, Aliexpress and China's "Silk Road" initiative means they deliver tons of these tents to our doorsteps for real cheap.

Own one-person version of this tent. Perfect tent, if you don't expect heavy rains and know the basics of picking up a campsite (tree canopy above the tent, away from water, not in a depression). I wish there was a bikepacking version of it with shorter poles. Obviously not a tent for heavy weather conditions, it's just not designed for it

I've got the one person version. I got hit with a thunderstorm with bursts of driving rain. The storm lasted about half an hour. The tent shed most of the rain, however under higher winds, there would be a very fine mist of water coming through. Add to that poor ventilation and it's not the best. One pet peeve (on my model) is that there is only one zipper pull on the screen door. Since i zipped mine all the way to the top, when I opened the screen a bunch of insect came in. That would have been avoided if there were two zipper pulls. I'll keep it because it's light, but it needs waterproof treatment.

Pretty much every mass produced tent has quality issues somewhere. Even the big guys like MSR and Big Agnes have quality issues sometimes. When balancing out price and quality, buyers have to decide what those quality issues are worth. Are they worth saving $400? Usually they are. You can buy a cottage vendor tent that is hand made with fantastic quality for $300+ (1P) or $600+ (2P), and you will usually get what you pay for. Or you can hunt for a bargain and you'll find them, but there will be tradeoffs. For me, the best bargain I've found is the Dursten X-Mid tents (1P & 2P). For the money, I haven't found anything better. However, they are no free standing. Naturehike makes decent gear, and it is priced well, but it is mass produced and will have some quality concerns. Just know what you're getting into. Inexpensive gear isn't bad gear, but there will be tradeoffs. As long as you know what those tradeoffs are you can make an informed decision about what gear works for you. Kodus to you for unbiased, thoughtful reviews and testing. This is how good decisions come to be made.

Well there's a few things to consider between the two. With the vik 2 you have an external pole setup which aids in setting up your tent quickly in rainy conditions which keeps it dry for the most part and the weight of the vik 2 is definitely a bonus cause its basically half the weight of the mongar but the caveat is its a single walled tent which means more prone to condensation but that means setting it up is less of a fuss too cause its all one unit. The mongar 2 on the other hand is the same free standing nature of the vik 2 but it can be set up with just the fly itself attached the footprint when its staked down so it can be set up solo the added bonus of that is you can set up the footprint then the fly and then set the tent up in the event of weather such as rain from the inside the fly plus it being separated with the air gap inside would aid in ventilation therefore preventing as much condensation but here's the catch because the two are separate the weight of the tent is heavier. For the TLDR Vik2 is a single walled lightweight tent that in its nature will be prone to condensation a bit more with ease of setup while as the mongar 2 is heavier but has multiple ways you can set it up so its a bit more "customizable" to what you want out of your tent.

no experience with Naturehike -- actually no experience at all -- first timer planning a trip -- am actually deciding between the Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 that you reviewed and liked back on Jan 7 (but based on your recommendation without the snow skirt) and the Coleman Sundome 2 Person (that you started reviewing a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for that rain review LOL) the Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 is currently $165 on Amazon (Material: 20D Rip-Stop Nylon -- Water-resistant: PU 4000mm) they have an older version of the Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 for $119 but it's 210T and only PU 3000mm so I'd getting the newer more expensive 20D one -- UNLESS YOU TELL ME THE COLEMAN IS BETTER ! HURRY UP HA HA

I'm sorry. Maybe it's because I have a big dog and a big butt, but these "two person" tents look like a nice stretch for Abbie, a Treeing Tennessee Brindle weighing about 45#'s! She don't share well, either!!😂😂🐕🐾🐾👵! That's why her favorite "tent" is a Red Roof Inn!!

Dude, you Should try to release testing videos faster if weather permits. I'm getting tests from other people directly after your setup video. I'd rather get the test from you

I am sure it was recorded months ago - in reality, it is early summer, yet there is no greenery in video.

Could have been filmed as recently as 6 weeks ago; springtime comes late to the mountains. To do regular vid posting like happens here means staying ahead of the game in case of bad weather or home issues knocking you out of work for a couple weeks. Have to work around the weather when you work in the weather!

A few loose threads or some limited crooked sewing doesn't bother me in economy gear as long as it performs it's intended job well for the price asked. To do well cheaply means knowing where to put your attention and where less-than-perfect will still be good enough. One standard can't fit all; you want better you'll have to spend more, but no tent should leak- that's why you have it! Not liking the 4-part reviews, would rather see 2-3 part episodes. It gets tough to keep up with all the different stuff when too much is spread out too far apart.

Is it just me or does this looks like a copy of the MH Hylo tent?

Well Luke here's one Big issue for color assembly! Over 40% of the population around the World 🌎 are color blind! In Canada it's higher with french Canadians and in Eu is high also. It's like the Engineering dept don't have any knowledge that maybe just make those lines bigger or with a symbol like 1-2-3-4 for putting it up.
