I’m yet to read the books (planning on as soon as school stops shoving books down my throat) but from just watching the films, Remus and Sirius acts like a real couple when on the other hand I wouldn’t have figured out Remus and Tonks were a thing until the second to last film, if I was being super observant. Blossom Gam3r You probably haven’t heard of authorial intent or death of the author. Author intent is making decisions about the plot and subtexts of the books based off of what the author has said/written. Death of the author is people making their own decisions about interpreting the plot/subtext. There’s nothing wrong with using death of the author, frankly that’s the one I’m most comfortable using. Don’t be angry at people for interpreting subtext in their own way.

The Harry Potter series is a product of hard work of Joanne, and as an author, she has all rights to make that kind of characters which she wants. May I recommend something? @@KazuhasWife69 sorry this was so long. some defining first: gay coding is giving a character gay traits that paints a character as gay to those in the know, historically this is done when unable to explicitly have a gay character wether censor or execs or just unwilling. Remus Lupin is pretty strongly coded gay. In the movie he was even acted and styled as a gay character. Then there comes him being a werewolf, which confirmed by J K Rowling lycanthropy is an analogy for HIV (oh boy is that a bad idea). Then comes the even worse idea of the second and only other named werewolf introduced, a pedophile who implied to had sexual assaulted Lupin as a child. Having lupin as gay only reinforces the connection hiv has with being gay but again has many issuse. Rowling has some questionable things in the books, Lupin-Tonks out of nowhere relatinships de-lgbt them both so "fixes" things she wrote. There quite a bit of subtext to that relationship too

That’s a similar vibe I got. I always saw Tonks as maybe pan or bi and Lupin as leaning more toward men but possibly bi considering his past and affection toward Sirius. I could definitely see them partnering up because they just felt really close due to being able to relate with one another and they felt that it was the right thing to do to get married and have Teddy.

Guys I have the final fact that complete's this. So in harry potter, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Ginny and Luna are supposed to represent people from the past generation. Harry is James, Ron is Sirius, Hermione is Remus, Neville is Peter, Ginny is Lily and Luna is Snape. They're each supposed to represent that person and correct their mistakes. For example Luna just like Snape was bullied but she didn't turn to evil. So Just like James and Lily get together, Harry and Ginny get together. Another cannon couple is Romione (Ron and Hermione). So Ron and Hermione are a couple. Ron represents Sirius and Hermione represents Remus. So based on that we can conclude that Sirius and Remus would have been a couple.

also the fact that at the end of GoF dumbledore tells sirius to 'lie low at lupin's' so they live together until they move to grimmauld place for the order, and then they live together some more. someone (i forgot who) literally mentioned something about how remus 'lived there with sirius' (talking about grimmauld place) and the wording of that is very specific and telling, they could have said anything like 'he's staying there for the order' but no, he's with sirius and they probably shared a room

also how they gave harry joined gifts and how they were almost always together at grimmauld's, and even when they were apart they knew where the other was. and since it's all generally written from harry's pov and catching up on things isn't his strongest suit that easily explains why narration says things like 'brotherly' embrace, harry just doesn't have a fucking clue what's going on ever. OH AND that time sirius was talking about umbridge and made a comment like 'you should hear remus talk about her' implying he's got a lot of nasty stuff to say but remus rarely talks very badly of people, even when telling harry about the werewolf who bit him he remained calm and generally objective. but clearly he is able to let his guard down and talk about his true feelings around sirius, cause he just immediately recalled remus talking shit about umbridge to him, which is otherwise out of character for him. but of course we don't see the way sirius and remus interact without harry around, save for that one scene from the pensieve and even then they weren't alone together

I'm extremely late BUT- I'm really surprised you didn't mention that sirius being able to transform into a dog along with lupin being a werewolf could be an indicator of something, since dogs and wolves are both canines. the stag and the rat are so different from those two and each other, but wolves and dogs are so closely related. could that have been on purpose? just something to think about☺💓🏳️🌈
