Hey there, I doubt you're going to see my comment mixed in with the thousand others that are here, but it's after midnight and I'm not sober and there are some words that I gotta get out. I like art in all of its forms, and I especially enjoy art that tells a story, but I never really felt like I "got" movies. I enjoyed the stories they told, and I appreciated the visuals and the music, but I never felt the same way about movies that I did about books, or poems, or murals. I'll be honest, I'm not a longtime subscriber to Joel, I only found his channel last month. But I wound up being drawn in by the sketches and movies he's made, and I think it's because he's not shy about using his medium to show people as flawed and awkward and relatable as they can be, in a way that other mediums aren't as capable of doing. And he does it all while making entertaining and creative art, which always seems to be a struggle when making characters relatable, it seems. So I guess I'm writing this letter that will never be read to thank Joel for making the amazing stuff he's been making, and for helping me feel like I "get" movies now. And on the off-chance that you, whoever you are right now, reading this, randomly looked at the comments and decided to take a minute to read my boring little ramble, then I hope you're able to make things that you enjoy making

When I was a kid I visited my extended family who lived in a rural village with a river running down the middle of it. They always spoke very loudly and I kinda felt like they were screaming at me. Finally my uncle explained that half the family lived on one side of the river, the other half on the other side and they spoke so loud because they always had to scream across the river to speak to each other.
