Artificial Life. The battle of clans
A new version of “Artificial Life” for modeling Evolution.
A made-up world with made-up rules inhabited by cells with a genome and the ability to give birth to other cells.
Sometimes mutation occurs and one random digit in the genome changes to another. And then natural selection comes into play…
The script was written based on the results of the simulation, so the story could have been very different.
In the video, emphasis is placed on the “socio-political” interactions of the organisms. To achieve this type of interaction, the organisms were divided into clans.
Although there really isn't any interaction here (there are no built-in opportunities for interaction and recognition of one’s own species), the general development of the world creates such an impression.

We saw something very similar when the land bridge between North America and South America formed. North America had much larger predators than South America did at the time so when they started to cross the newly formed bridge south bound, it caused the extinction of several species that were unable to adapt. Can't remember many of the details beyond that though.

I love the narration! I think it's interesting that in the final epoch, ones things somewhat reached a stable ecosystem, we can see a few distinct species that are capable of surviving together. Meanwhile, many species which existed early on, before the presence of single-celled predators, are nowhere to be found. Early on we see a lot of creatures that grow rapidly and cover all available space, while in the final epoch, we see many "snake-like" species that grow in a straight line and only occasionally turn or branch. I wonder if a similar phenomenon happened in Earth's evolutionary history. Perhaps during the "Great Oxygenation Event" when the first oxygen-producing organisms evolved and nearly killed all life on Earth.

This is amazing. Btw, I see the "unicellular predators" less of an immune system, and more of a bacterial system (since there's good bacteria). The bacteria in our gut helps break down molecules so we can use the stored energy. But then, when an unfamiliar bad virus or bacteria comes along that we're not used to, it can wipe an entire people (like the Native Americans and smallpox).

You need to bring this to a bigger scale. Something crazy like 2^14 x 2^14 (16384 x 16384), and if your computer can't handle that, then try to turn this program into something that runs on your GPU. I would also love to see you give different species names, and write a little program that makes a chart of how they evolve, or just a table of how they evolved and you turn that into a chart. Then we could see what exactly happened as far as evolution is concerned, and as you would go through the events that took place on the massive grid like you did in this video, you would keeping referencing back to that evolution diagram to show how the evolutionary pressures made the different species evolve into others.

Also shifting sectors was confusing sometimes and it would be great to be signalized somehow. Also I found the explanation of world difficult and needed some time of constantly rewatching video to catch so i think it would be great to put more focus on that. I was hoping the description would include a link to the software. The end of the video had a call to action, one of which could be interpreted as running the simulation, potentially with that running being reported to a channel database for use.

@@wallcraft-video Oh cool. It's just a very interesting implementation of the theme of the game about evolution and development, which is very interesting to watch.

"Artificial Life: The Battle of Clans" seems to be a title or concept related to a game or fictional scenario. While I don't have specific information about a game or scenario with this title in my training data up to September 2021, I can provide some general information and ideas that might be relevant to such a concept: 1. **Game Concept**: "Artificial Life: The Battle of Clans" could be a strategy or simulation game where players create and manage clans or groups of artificial lifeforms. These lifeforms might be robots, genetically engineered creatures, or digital entities. 2. **Clan Creation**: Players could have the ability to design and customize their clans, choosing characteristics like appearance, abilities, and behavior. Each clan might have its unique strengths and weaknesses. 3. **Resource Management**: In such a game, resource management could be crucial. Players might need to gather materials, energy, or technology to evolve their clans and compete effectively. 4. **Battles and Competition**: The central focus of the game could be on battles and competition between clans. These battles might involve strategic planning, tactical decisions, and real-time or turn-based combat. 5. **Evolution and Progression**: Clans could evolve and improve over time through research, upgrades, and experience gained from battles. This progression system would make the game more engaging. 6. **Storyline and Objectives**: A compelling storyline or set of objectives could add depth to the game. Players might have specific goals to achieve, such as conquering territories, uncovering mysteries, or surviving in a hostile world. 7. **Multiplayer Interaction**: Multiplayer options could allow players to form alliances, trade resources, or engage in large-scale clan battles with other players online. 8. **Artificial Intelligence**: Given the focus on artificial life, advanced AI for the clans could be a key feature. The AI-controlled clans might have their motivations, strategies, and personalities. 9. **Ethical and Moral Dilemmas**: The concept of artificial life also raises ethical and moral questions. Players could be faced with choices that have consequences for their clans and the game world, exploring themes like ethics in AI and bioengineering. 10. **Customization and Modding**: Allowing players to customize and mod the game could enhance its longevity and creativity. It's important to note that this is a general framework for a game concept based on the title you provided. Actual gameplay and features would depend on the developer's vision and the platform on which the game is released. If "Artificial Life: The Battle of Clans" is a real game that has been released after my last training data in September 2021, you may want to check official sources and reviews for more specific information about the game.

That was really cool! I wonder if the dominance of predators could be abated somewhat if plants could develop cells that store organic matter or charge etc, that are themselves unaffected by those? Then a predator munching on the storage cells would have a good chance to OD if the plant focused on bioaccumulating toxic levels in these storage cells.

It's super interesting to see how a simple evolution naturally led to something my grandma would call "ugly", and that I would call scifi patterns and inelegant randomness. It's just... emergent, and function-typed, somehow. Fascinating
