Goes to show that physiologically, the grunt is not required to hit a tennis ball. Hence; grunts with an unacceptable volume should be penalized at the discretion of the umpire for two reasons. Firstly, they distract from the concentration of the opponent. Secondly, they are displeasing to the audience. Frankly, it's ridiculous that I'm even articulating such common sense but this is our new world where common sense takes a back seat to special interests.

i second that..i really wondered why majority of the women players started to grunt their larynx out en masse and got the answer that it dates back to late 90s and in to the new millennium with the exception of monica seles(from late 80s)..

Yes her foot work was the only one I am watching on her a lot of time . So elegant like Federer . Not unlike other players who wearing like a ballerina skirts but the way they open their legs after the use of their forehand . Really awkward .
