They were blocked by the High Court because they didn't have the ability to pass legislation to back the decision. (8) Eventually Rudd caved and started sending them all to Nauru and PNG. Doing so avoided an ALP wipeout in 2013.

Saying you'd like to do something, or doing it at the cost of taxpayers, isn't ethical. It's buying future votes. Some people whose families have paid taxes for generations have members now needing to go without heating here and there, skipping meals, deciding between a meal or their medication, etc. It would be cheaper for the taxpayers to have wannabe refugees (including some economic migrants, and hidden very bad actors) wait in Rwanda than in the U.K... that's easier on the current U.K. residents financially, in terms of available housing, to protect them from possible bad actors, etc. It's not the same Rwanda of decades ago.

People with no right to the country...simply enter. It takes time to check everything out...years. Rwanda is happy to take in some people, for money. It's not the Rwanda of decades ago.
