@@truegamer_007 You don't really see many sensors etc on these miniature models, neither torque settings. Also timing belt is very simple on this one, compare that to real engine which might have tensioner, few guide pulleys etc. How about adjusting a diesel pump as well. Awesome work anyway

Nice job man! Just a little tip, installing components should be torqued from inside out to make sure it all stays flat. Just like a sticker where you start in the middle and work your way out in a cross pattern. And after setting the timing, always turn the crank 2 revolutions by hand to make sure valves and pistons don’t collide.

Yeah, that oil pan installation was painful to watch. Although he's not using enough torque to really deform anything, those o-rings could get wrinkled up very easily and cause a leak.

When tightening things like the oil pan, valve cover, and especially the cylinder head, you should start in the middle and work to the ends in a spiral pattern. If you tightening from the outside in any warp induced will be locked in instead of flattened out.

Yes, I was thinking the same. He did the sequence for disassembly instead of assembly! Oh well, it's just a toy, and it seems to run quite well. I was unimpressed with the fact that it's only sohc. At first glance, the second (idler) pulley looks like an actual cam shaft. They should have just made it dohc, with the cams directly on top of the valve spring buckets. Maybe that can be a future job for Johnny! Still cool though, but for $700-$800, it could be better.

Couple of criticisms. When Torquing down the cylinder head or for that matter the valve cover or oil sump always torque the bolts in the middle first and work out words so that any “slack” dosnt accumulate in the middle. Also a correction, 10:05 says glow plugs but those are clearly spark plugs, glow plugs are used in diesel motors.

I love thing like this. I had this bmw straight 6 engine from a 98 316i. I have had it since a kid. My dad made this stand so I could have it in my bedroom and everyday I would strip it down and put it back together. When I moved out of my mums I couldn't take it with me as I moved into a flat on the 2nd floor with no lift. I love to work out how things work. Its the only thing I'm good at is fixing things. I would give anything to have that engine back but it's too heavy and I have just been diagnosed with MS so my hands are not plugged in properly. This looks like its prefect for me but out of my budget.

Come on that price is stupid. They have that on a 90% mark up. There is no way that costs $100 no manufacture let alone $900. I could buy a whole damn car for that price.

@aserta
@aserta 3 роки тому
There's plenty of RC cars out there that were built with that kind of mentality tho and it's not difficult to do, the reason you don't see that often, is because you need to be A. retired B. nuts and C. with decent pockets. The 3 aspects don''t often hit. It's like the triangle of choices.
