God bless this lovely man ! for those asking it takes me 30-45 mins to diagnose and find short with no thermal cam. -identify short on MOSFET -solder a wire to shorted side -inject voltage with non-linear PSU -I start feeling board with my hand ( if high amperage it will burn the skin ) if not obvious or whole board is getting warm I use alcohol on parts of the board and see where it evaporate -desolder wire on short -remove CAP and never change it !! ( I never replace cap because 1) I have no capacitance meter 2 ) Even if I know the value I can't find part 3 ) IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE ! ) ps*: through hundreds of repairs I only found it kinda important to replace CAP on signal areas: Wifi / bluetooth

Excellent work, Alex. Big Boss should be commended for his hard work as well. To be able to disassemble and then reassemble all the different devices you get is a huge skill on it's own. I've been taking things apart since I was a child (but early on, definitely not getting them back together correctly). My mom hated me doing it but it has served me well in my life and jobs. Give Big Boss a huge thumbs-up! 👍

You've inadvertently made an interesting point. The thermal cam and voltage injection tool collectively are expensive items. At first blush, a tech mayn't want to invest $400 to $700 in such equipment. I've been watching for a few months and it's likely you only record a fraction of the work you actually do. From the few jobs you've highlighted on video, I don't think it's too much to say that those devices have already paid for themselves several times over. The most valuable thing you possess is time and if it takes you less time to complete a job, that leaves more time to complete other jobs which in turn equate to more money being made because you can process jobs at a faster rate. The thermal cam and voltage injector pair are like magic wands that grant you more time. When used correctly, these are some of the best investments a tech could ever make for this type of work. Here here!

The voltage injection tool and thermal cams are priceless tools for finding shorts, but I can't help but to notice your test leads for multimeter. It doesn't look like your common leads. Can you explain those.
@therealb888
@therealb888 2 роки тому
Ya but the one thing about voltage injection is that without proper tools and understanding you can easily do irreversible damage. When it comes to graphics cards you want to make sure the main power rails aren't shorted to vcore before you inject voltage. So its not as simple as it looks.
