For newer ATINY, this amazing song Turbulence is actually very important in ATEEZ's history. It came out at the end of 2021 when ATEEZ had been unable to see their fans for two years because of the pandemic, and mnet and the South Korean kpop industry had spent the year just trashing them after they dared to be so spectacular on the show KINGDOM, which they had been invited to compete on to be cannon fodder (but instead, ATEEZ friggin pulled out the unforgettable and epic "Symphony No. 9: From the New World" aka Kraken Wonderland in Round 1 and just floored the competition/revolutionized that show and raised the bar for the rest of its run!). So when we hear in this song that our fearless and indomitable captain Hongjoong (who, as the center as well as leader of the group, had never *not* appeared in an ATEEZ video until so late as he did in Turbulence--over a minute and half into its run time!) saying, "the world looking down on me from a high place does scare me," it's just heartbreaking and shocking, and I know all of ATINY grieved along with ATEEZ during that dark time. This was the first ATEEZ music video where all the members were split up and alone/never met in the whole video. ;__; Luckily, the very next month after this was released, ATEEZ embarked on their second World Tour "BEGINNING OF THE END," where they were overwhelmed by the love they received/moved to tears to see how cities they had performed in on their first World Tour (four months after their debut in 2019) had grown their audience for ATEEZ from ~1000 people to sold out arenas of nearly 20,000 people, all singing their songs and loving on them! So what we see in Turbulence mv--the softest and saddest of any ATEEZ title track--was really them at their lowest point, being sincere and vulnerable about their journey as they always have been. It's so much more than just a pop song--it contains their sincere hearts/emotions at the time and the brilliant artistry and authenticity that makes Turbulence as exciting and riveting a title track as any of their typically explosive and anthemic ones. Turbulence is a masterpiece.

ATINY TURBULENCE DESERVES 100 MIL OMG WHY IS THIS SONG STUCK AT 30MIL?!

Things you may not have noticed (or you may have but just let me scream about it ok): - 0:30 first 30 seconds, Yunho and Seonghwa's breath control here is so beautiful, it makes them sound like they're gently brushing watercolours on a canvas - 0:32 and then 0:40, honestly Yeosang's range is so beautiful, his higher range, if you close your eyes, you'd easily mistaken him for San or Wooyoung because his higher voice is clear and crisp like theirs. - 0:40 Mingi's low register contrasts very well with Wooyoung's high register, I love the layers in ATEEZ's songs - 0:55 the descending musical scale on an electric guitar, brings back early 2000s punk rock vibes, which is why the chorus sounds so nostalgic - 1:19 the song makes a brief modulation (to a relative minor? I think. My music theory is rusty lol) and switches back so fast, but it does the trick because it colours the next verse in the most devastating, melancholic shade. - 1:20-1:35++ the starting refrain is echoing in the background, kind of like wind whistling through a long empty tunnel, and its such a stunning match to the lyrics because Mingi and Hongjoong are sing-rapping about wind and loneliness. - 1:42 Yunho's eyelashes FLUTTER as he sings and angsts like you can visually SEE THE EMOTION IN HIS EYELASHES IM IN PAIN - 1:45 we don't hear hongjoongs lower register much, and now lets bask in it, his low register is so soothing when i die bury me in this bgm thanks - 1:55 *Patrick stewart voice* ACT-ING - the whole chorus but just Jongho's part: his voice is very rich and emotional, and it suits the lyrics so much. Don't hate me for this, but only his voice can pull off that level of deep agony and emotion of "It's already so overwhelming, so difficult to be myself, what am I supposed to do now, how much more pain am i expected to take" and Jongho colours it with the emotion you feel when you stand on a cliff and shout into the valley in frustration and pain while still managing to sound like an actual angel from heaven and thats the take home message of our sermon today amen - Seonghwa's scenes with the spotlight is very jarring because if you think about it, celebrities face cameras every other day and are constantly having to watch flashes of cameras going off in their face. It's honestly such a painful thing to look at, but he just stares into the spotlight like he's resigned to the pain, like the intense spotlight is something he has to endure for his dream. - 2:18 he's in the eye of the tornado. Like standing in a hurricane of emotions and dreams If you think of the paper airplanes as a wish or a dream someone sends out into the world... Because at the end hongjoong sends one of the airplanes flying down the tunnel - the matching of Hongjoong's path lighting up to Wooyoung's flight path lighting up - if you think about airplanes flying, technically they don't fly so much as rely in the wind to lift them up (because physics). Wind is a very strong motif in this song, and lights as well, it's as if like they're saying we will light our own way and reach our dreams together, and we shall be the wind beneath each other's wings. - pretty sure everyone heard the Wave outro but did you notice that it only kicked in when Hongjoong started singing (summoned by the call of their captain?) and its their voices in unison because 8 makes! 1! Team! Forever! Ok if you made it till here you are amazing im off to cry now good day BONUS: The day goes from night to day/evening to day for San, Yunho, Wooyoung, Seonghwa, Jongho, but for Hongjoong, Mingi it's always night time, and for Yeosang, it's always daytime/evening time. Just an interesting lighting choice. But the sun never dawns for HJ MG, and the sun never seems to set for YS (edit 16 Jan 2022 I was rewatching their reaction and Yunho expressed that the sun does rise for San, therefore it seems that the sun only stays down for the rappers... Don't know if there's some bigger meaning but it makes me sad)

Ateez is the group that best expresses the feelings of young people. They are like friends who guide us and walk that path together.

I have nowhere to vent so let me just say it here. I had too many close calls with being un-alive and ATEEZ first saved me when I was at the lowest point of my life and literally the day after, Answer was released. All their songs were my friends when I stayed at the hospital for almost 4 months and it was yet another time for me to give up but that's when the Fever Pt. 1 was released, ODAAT and Fever saved me again and then NTL and now this. ATEEZ songs come at the right time when one is on the brink of giving in to their own darkness and helps pull them out of it. To me, I only have their songs comforting me and embracing me. Idk about you but ATEEZ does not deserve to be called 'kpop idols' at all, they're more than that. They're a phenomenon that changes the world with their music.

there are genuinely no words to describe how beautiful this song is. the ending notes being the beginning of wave paired with jongho's high note gave me chills. putting the lore aside, this song HURTS. it's something that a lot of us can relate to, i think. as someone who's struggled with depression for years that's only been worsened because of the pandemic, and as someone who's graduating this year and has been transitioning into adulthood - i feel like this song understands me. ateez really covers every base and their talent is phenomenal and they deserve so much recognition. who's doing it like them? nobody.

i'm going to be honest, kpop is not my cup of tea at all; i dont like how the industry works and how the idols are treated but i digress. ever since i found ateez this year i felt.. saved. i'm not even lying, they saved me and they helped me find myself. i had felt so lost trying to make choices for my future, what i wanna do in my life but they, ateez, has helped me live more than they could ever know. this is my second comeback with them and i hope to be part of more. if anything, i want them to be acknowledged by everyone, for the world to know how amazing these boys are. voting, streaming, all these things i didn't think i'd ever do for anyone but here i am. i want to give back what they've given to me. the strength and the blessings. i'll try my best to do that. ateez deserves so so much more, especially in the industry they're in that prioritizes the groups coming from big companies. ateez are and will always transcend my dislike for kpop. they're special. i wish them so much the best.

This song lyrically is absolutely gorgeous. I can completely understand why wooyoung said this one is his favourite! It's a song that captures so many raw emotions and their voices... no one would have been able to deliver the emotions like Ateez! I love this song so much already!! Though they come from a small company, having that huge amount of dedication for their art will eventually let their message and emotions reach a lot of people's hearts. I was thinking about these men while watching all of these awards shows. They are almost superhuman with their talent in so many different areas. I cannot find the words to express exactly what I mean. However, their standard is so incredibly high that they completely stun me with each song, video and performance. They are so above the bar with talent yet they continue to propel farther and farther with each new song. And I am along for the ride. Definitely a fan for life. I couldn't get a ticket for their concert here in the USA but I have faith that someday they will be back and I will be able to see them in person.

These boys really are pulling at my heart strings. I didn't expect to go into this and cry my eyes out. The amount of emotion in their voices my gosh. It's not that easy to sing and be so expressive hey. The lyrics resonated with me and a lot of other Atiny from what I see, and that's what music is supposed to be like. A way of bringing people together, something that speaks to people regardless of their backgrounds, races, genders, and the languages they speak.

My first Atiny Day, happy anniversary to you all!

I started crying as soon as the song began, this song made me feel like someone has understood me in some way. The song felt like it was saying to me to fly high to the light at the end of the tunnel and never give up on my dreams. I have never said this to anyone, to be honest, but behind my smile and laughs there is the pain of some sort which I am figuring out and this song was released at the perfect time because I was about to doubt myself as to why I am the way I am and why am I useless. I hope that everyone achieves what they want and become a new and improved version of themselves. 🧡 My favourite song out of all the songs ATEEZ has released. Well done ATEEZ, we atinys are super duper proud. Also on another note, I have listened to so many sad songs but this is the one that actually understood me and that is why ATEEZ is my ults.

I'm not a ATINY but I have noticed ATEEZ's songs and talents. This song is seriously amazing and superb. I don't usually fall in love with songs on the first try but this one is different. Turbulence is incredibly awesome and I hope people can realize how good this song really is! I do really hope ATEEZ grow bigger!

I cannot believe it, how is it i am not over this song? it's been 4 days and i have it on constant loop. I think i am losing myself to the lyrics and the entirety of Turbulence. Words are not enough to describe the feelings this song brings me, as expected from ATEEZ. Their discography, their stories, personalities, the storyline. All of this makes me sure that I love the right people. Since I saw them for the first time in Inception, I felt so many feelings that until then were unknown to me, I was spending hours and hours listening just to make sure what I feel. Today I can say that I was right about the thought that they would change me; would transform me. I am proud and grateful to have met you. Congratulations on your work, captains.
