People are leaving Christianity in droves. I think it's a good thing. I know you get peace and love out of it, but Christian theology is fundamentally built on the idea that you are a worthless, depraved, bad person who deserves to be tortured, by your very nature. It says that you can never take credit for your good achievements, but must take full credit for your mistakes. It says that you can't trust your own thoughts, and that the world is ending soon so there's little point in improving or preserving it. You by yourself are never good enough. This is a level of toxicity that I think we would all be better off putting in the dustbin of historical mythology. We can have all its benefits without all the shame or cycles of abuse.
