Kiawentiio (sorry if I didn't write it well) knows more of the expanded lore of ATLA than a lot of writers of the show. Well, but that doesn't mean the live action is bad. I actually watched the show twice already since I liked it a lot. But man, there are some scenes where we have tons of dialogues explaining stuff. Also, I did rewatch some episodes of the original Nick cartoon, and it also has scenes of people talking and explaining things. But it doesn't feel like they don't fit, in comparison to the netflix adaptation.

I saw an interview with Daniel Dae Kim (Ozai) saying as a joke: It's funny that I get to give my kids some really tough character development in this show. Just like I did with my own kids. I don't remember the exact words, you can look up interviews with DDK, and he says something like that.

@@joseabreu-nn5cu in the cartoon, Katara is not really a parental figure, she's just less clumsy that the others and more "mature", so she acts like that, but tecnically she has the same age of Aang. Sokka is not the parental figure of the group in the live action , he's simply more serious than he is in the cartoon.

The air nomads may be based off tibetan monks but they also have arrow tattoos and bend air, which are things tibetan monks don't do in real life. So it makes sense their reasoning for being bald would be different

@@AmyA-bg1bs no it didnt, gyatso canon killed elit firebenders, like in the og. Theres 15 elite firebenders dead around him and super decomposed more than gyatso. Atla is good but korra is also a good sequel, open ur heart and mind to it. Only characterisation i hate is of toph becoming a cop because it doesnt fit her lore and character, but eventually when she got older she went back to her og but kuvira redemprion arc was horrible cuz shes literally earth sozin although that point was cuz it was a tv trend to anti hero-fy villains and to reference zuko but done w/o the actual redemption.

I wish she had mentioned that Azula's flames are blue, a powerful embodiment of her inner rage. This color choice not only adds vivid symbolism to her emotions, but also conveys the idea of increased heat, as we know that blue flames usually signal higher temperatures.

For example, another commenter said that Lizzy is Azula coded, meaning that the actor really embodies the traits of Azula herself.

LOL, but seriously, when you have that strong of a bond, so much more can grow. People forget family is more than just the people you're related to. A true love starts off as a true love for a person, caring about them, and wanting the best for them, so Kiawentiio's answer wasn't necessarily wrong, it just wasn't all there was to the story, but they said it's just season 1. They want old fans and new fans to be able to enjoy the live action, so that's why they're taking their time and not trying to reveal too much.

The classic Zuko haircut was never gonna make sense visually in live action, yet they had to do it because its very iconic for that part of the characters journey. Can't wait to see him grow it out as the story goes on, he has great hair in the flashbacks and these interviews XD

I really feel like the show purposefully avoided Kataang in the first season, and now Kiawentiio mentiones Katara's and Aang's relationship is more like siblings. After being asked about Zutara, they completely avoided the question, as if they were trying not to spoil something. I might be dlulu, but please let me be delulu. XDD

The Last Airbender is certainly inspired by a lot of Asian culture, only Japanese created animation is actually defined as Anime, so I’m afraid it isn’t as although rude the previous response is correct, it is American made.

Written in Chinese, Aang means "peaceful soaring." Considering that Aang was an Air Nomad and heavily believed in non-violence, his name's meaning was quite apt. Meanwhile, Katara and Sokka's names mean "wanting hope" and "I understand", respectively, in Japanese.

no its not, its pronounced kah-tah-rah and soe-kka. I don't speak chinese but the way we pronounce aang also doesnt seem like a chinese pronounciation. I've been studying japanese for like 12 years now (since I was 8) And I've never heard of the word katara used to want hope. 8:06 in the beginning of the show Aang was seen flying around which can only be done if the bender has no earthly attachments so even if what happened to him is sad he never really cared about it. For zuko throughout the show you can see and feel how his childhood effect’s him even 10 years later.
