When I was a toddler in lower Manhattan NY, I was in a crib near the family radio console. And this song stuck in my memory. I don’t know what year it was but they played it very often.

And it's the third most Spanish song played in the world...

I an a native of Tucson, Az., & so was "Lalo Guerrero," both raised in "Barrio Viejo." So I'm an avid fan of him & his music. I love his version of this song, but to hear it in French, I'm in awe! Lalo Guerrero's music was used in the play/movie, "Zoot Suit," with Edward James Olmos playing lead in both. Check it out.

She was a Jalapeno, so, no wonder it's a hot song. This was really popular in Japan in the late 50s - early 60s.
