The ACC has done nothing for FSU that was promised. Indeed, they have attempted to keep FSU down at every turn from bad payouts to absolutely horrible referees who have attempted to inject themselves into almost every game by their continued obvious bad calls over the years. The ACC back room dealing will come to light in Florida if they do not settle, and they fear that.

The BIG10 is going to pass on adding the state of Florida for recruiting and TV viewership because of the AAU? Be aware that the opportunity to add the state of Florida will only come once.... FSU will be a member of the AAU at some point anyway in all likelihood, and they would be mid-pack academically in the BIG10 right now, so the argument is a bit hypocritical to start with. The state of Florida for recruiting and TV viewership would be HUGE... mistake to pass on this opportunity. And think Ohio State vs FSU... USC vs FSU... BIG games every year.

Many think it's a requirement but it's really a strong preference. They are in good enough academic standard and probably will be AAU soon, so the Big Ten won't dismiss them because them joining the conference makes it stronger. It's "keeping up with the Jones's" now and with FSU working towards the AAU status, they wouldn't let that be the hold up.

The B1G should also give a serious thought about adding Clemson for their brand value. The B1G has the academic resources and influence to help them improve their academics. They could easily get Clemson to agree to an academic improvement plan to help them get voted into the AAU, within about a decade, by investing some of their extra B1G revenue into improving their academics. If the B1G can add ND, FSU, UNC, Clemson, Miami, and Texas A&M then they would put the SEC out of business because they would be paying their football players double.

Just to be clear, there are SOME connections between FSU and the B1G Conference. It may not be athletics, BUT the FSU Marching Chiefs were basically built by former Ohio State University professor Manley Whitcomb. In fact, the Marching Chiefs use the high step marching (called the Chief-step at FSU) that is prominently featured in most B1G marching bands. Most college marching bands in the south use glide step marching techniques. Manley Whitcomb was also instrumental in getting Charlie Carter to come with him to FSU as a personal composer for the Marching Chiefs. It is the brilliant writing of Charlie Carter that gave the Marching Chiefs their unique sound. In fact, the OSU Marching Band is seen as the grandfather of the Marching Chiefs and most in the Marching Chiefs still view OSU as our grandfather in terms of marching bands.
@davewoods4256
@davewoods4256 6 днів тому
Was a Marching Chief over 2 decades. At no time then, or since then, that we ever talked about Ohio State. Manner of marching is a strange claim to fame, Charlie has been gone longer than most members are old, and Whit was gone before I started about 60 years ago. Most ideas, marching, playing and philosophy have progressed leaps and bounds. The Chiefs are part of the highly respected music school at FSU. There are lots of good bands across the nation. Each has attributes that help showcase each band. I would have to tell you that there's not much similarity between these 2 schools.

Nebraska needs to have an on-campus hospital. Sounds like they're trying to merge UNO's hospital back into the system to fulfill that requirement. They also need to boost research dollars so that'd help by consolidating all UN campuses under one flag just like Michigan and Penn State. I think the one person erred in saying Notre Dame wasn't AAU. They earned AAU status last year along with Miami.

@@heartbreak25 Yea, we realized that was in error after the fact, apologies about the misstep with the ND AAU status. @Bigtenshow
@Bigtenshow Місяць тому
@@heartbreak25 Exactly, part of the reason I brought up Florida State's plan to achieve AAU status is because it may have been something you can use as a requirement BEFORE all of this realignment, but now it is about money, the B1G would absolutely bend to squeeze someone in as long as they are in good academic standard and/or working towards AAU status. It is in no way a requirement, but also a standard that the Big Ten cannot drift TOO far away from at the same time.

@@brentmichael4770 Do I look like a kid? From reading your other comments, you have NO clue what you’re talking about. The realignment has NOTHING to do with academics and everything to do with TV ratings!!! If I’m wrong, then why the hell did the B1G pass up schools like Stanford and Cal and their billion dollar endowments for Oregon and Washington? TV Ratings!!!! You can sell advertisements at a premium price when there are more eyeballs watching. Simple economics. I’ll give you a quick education. Endowments are NOT shared among conference members. They do however, share the researched information. So what can they share financially? The only thing that can be financially shared is the TV Media Rights agreement. The B1G just signed a media package with a revue that totaled 8 billion dollars from Fox, NBC, and CBS that goes till 2029-2030 season. With the information I gave you, is the B1G going to invite a team that doesn’t pull a high tv audience? No!!!! Why is that? Because it dilutes the current members over all revenue share. You see, they’re not paying more than the 8 billion. So divvy that up with 16 teams for the next 7 years and it comes out to the $60-$70 million per team, per year. So if you bring in a team prior to the contract expiring, the pie gets cuts into smaller shares, meaning, less payout per school. Now, the B1G was willing to take in Oregon and Washington because both programs rank nationally as some of the most watched college football teams in the country. Oregon typically sits somewhere from 10th-15th while Washington sits anywhere from 15th to 25th. Stanford and Cal sit typically in the mid to high 40’s. Same with UNC, they are almost tied at bringing in the same tv audience rankings. Fact is, those three do not garnish an invite because they’re not worth it, regardless of the academics!!!

The further conference alignment moves forward, The more it seems that people disrespect the Clemson program. This team ranks 14th in all time wins with 798, Meaning they were winning before Sweeney became head coach, They just weren’t winning the Marquee matchups And also sometimes lose to a team they had no business losing to, which is why people coined the phraseClemsoning, meaning to lose when you’re not supposed to. in the last three years, this team has one 31 games, and yes, the expectations are higher, but most teams would be extremely happy with that record. you S news and world reports does not rank. Clemson 30 spots behind Florida State, in their rankings of public universities, they are rank 29th. no, Clemson is not a big 10 type program and this is not a plea. for entry into the conference, but what this is, is a reality check, because when the two top conferences are making millions and competing for those top TV contracts and the only leverage you can hold our the playoff spots and championships your conference has, well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the SEC has more championship contenders at this current time, so it might be in the big tens best interest to continue to bring in programs that can compete for playoff spots, because the networks are not changing college football for a a U dollars, they are changing for more TV dollars and revenue.

Fox is not going to pay anything for them. Secondly, the B1G has said that any addition would have to, in their words, “pay their own way”. Was does it really mean, Justin, to say, "the NCAA was always a business that was about themselves"? The NCAA is nothing more than a cooperative of its member schools. For years, the NCAA's focus was on maintaining a level playing field, so the Wake Forests could compete with the Ohio States (or have a chance to, anyway). Once the courts limited the NCAA's ability to regulate a level playing field beginning in the '80s, through an incorrect application of anti-trust law (I would argue), the locus of power shifted to the conferences, as separate cooperatives negotiating their own network packages. From there, it was predictable that the conferences would turn into wolf packs that would hunt and pillage until 2 or 3 big dogs reached a stand off. You can't blame this on the NCAA. The courts opened Pandora's Box and the big dogs choose money over principles. What the big dogs and the networks don't grasp is that the market for college sports will gradually decline as a result of their greed. There are huge numbers of fans who will just walk away when their schools are run off or it becomes clear they can no longer compete.

It was the schools that couldn't afford to pay the players that resisted -- and their votes far outnumbered those of the schools that could afford to. NIL comes mainly from boosters and is basically bribery that is corrupting and ruining the sport.
