In an interview, SU-METAL talks about this performance: ” Download Festival 2016 was one of the most impressive festival for us. It rained a lot that day. Just before our turn, it started pouring. The stage manager said to us, “OK, it's your turn. Let's get started!” but obviously the situation was too bad for us to start. The stage floor was flooded. Playing in the rain is very difficult and dangerous for all bands. On top of that, we BABYMETAL dance on the stage. In back of the stage, the managing staff were discussing whether we should wait for the rain to stop, or even cut some tunes from the set list. It was in such restless and nervous situation when we started our performance. However, thousands of people had been waiting to see BABYMETAL in the pouring rain, and it touched us so much. We might have to stop performing halfway due to the rain, but or so we tried to do our best under extreme tension. While dancing we often slipped and found it very hard to perform, yet we had no choice but to concentrate thoroughly on our performance. Yui, Moa and I said to each other, “Watch your step!” Even in such terrible situation, we just wanted the audience to enjoy BABYMETAL. During the performance I sang and danced thinking such various things. After the performance, I felt really relieved because we were able to finish without any accident or injury. On the other hand, I might say the pouring rain made our performance in Download Festival 2016 very dramatic and emotional. Above all, the enthusiastic reaction of the audience pushed us forward. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.” After reading it, watching Yui & Moa lying on the flooded stage and Su calling to the audience, I can’t help crying more than ever.

4:12-4:23 might be favourite part of any live performance, the vocals, the shot of Su looking up while its absolutely pissing it down with rain. Just so so good.
Namely, that is Babymetal. Hands down. Without a shadow of doubt.
When he played a guitar, he always beamed as if it were easy to play. I'm referring to Mikio Fujioka who was one of the guitarists of Baby Metal. You know he passed away. I miss him, his sound, his groove. Rest in peace, Mikio.

She has one of the most talented voices i've ever heard. It's like silk running through your ears... And the backing band is world class. I know this is a production from Japan, they basically dropped these girls into it, but jees... everyone involved in making noise on the stage is so talented. Can't hate on them at all. I do wish they'd drop the dancing though. Let the girls do their own thing on the stage for a while.
@BenC4607 років тому
It's part of the idol thing. Babymetal wouldn't be Babymetal without the dancing.
@metalindo-curry75477 років тому
Their producer Kei Kobayashi a.k.a. KOBAMETAL instantly became a huge fan of the talent of Suzuka singing as a member of the Karen Girls at the age of 10 (in 2008). He immediately started to create a group to feature her talent as a singer and dancer in a similar manner of the Perfume; the Babymetal was born this way. So they are not very typical as a production or a manufactured group.
@m1sh4747 років тому
They could use more improvisations, yes, but the dancing is great.
@chrismartino35197 років тому
you have no idea what the dances mean.... take more time with it because the dances mean so so much and relay even more than the song itself does.... take it all in
@erra75527 років тому
Oh please. There's no meaning to the dances other than most J-Pop bands do them, and they are part of the machine that makes money for someone. The dances sometimes come off cheesy and cring-worthy more than anything. Plus id like to see the vocalists actually be able to enjoy their time on the stage and just sing, without having to burn 2000 calories in the time they perform.
@cypruslavigne74195 років тому
People really don't credit Su-metal enough for her vocals. Like she's got to be one of the best live-vocalists of the modern day, perfect pitch and belting while dancing and performing. Most of our best vocalists in the western world couldn't hold a note live to save their life, especially not while doing an intense dance routine. Most singers would lower the key of this song live, but Su did it effortlessly and that G#5, holy shit.

@MetalNCarnet7 років тому
I think it has to do with being happy. Happiness is a strong emotion and I feel it every time I here their music. It's their genuine attitude towards what they're doing that gets me too. They genuinely believe that they are going to make the world a better place with their music. I admire the hell out of that. One of their songs is even about anti-bullying. They are pure and untainted by the celebrity world. Their producer/manager, Koba-Metal, protects them from that and does most of the business side of the band himself. To make sure they don't become the next Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber (In terms of personality and attitude), their private lives remain very private from the public. They even still go to public school when their not touring. People in Japan are very well mannered and keep to themselves a lot. So they generally have a personal life without being shut-ins because of people mobbing them everywhere they go. It's quite fascinating.
