I just recently got the Nemo Dagger OSMO today after doing some research on what would be the best or better tent to use for some solo trips with my dog. One of the bonuses I found the Nemo has is the darker color that keeps the inside of the tent not a light bulb during the day (not a whole lot of people make mention about that factor). I understand a lot of people make a pass on it due to the weight, but so far I don't see a huge issue in it as like you said you can split the parts.

I'm super happy that I switched from the Duplex to the Double Rainbow Li, having the ability to zip the rain fly shut was a huge upgrade, not to mention being rid of that stupid half moon mesh door design that Zpacks insists on. I also really like those pockets at each mesh door with both a top entry and side entry, I was impressed with how clever and useful that they turned out to be

I picked up the Outdoor Vitals Fortius 1P last month and man it’s phenomenal. Aside from its outstanding cost to weight ratio, it’s got full mesh walls on both side of the tent, something that is lacking in every other single wall one person trekking pole tent that I’m aware of. The ventilation is excellent because of this. I spent the night in Georgia, it was high 70’s during the day and dropped to low 30’s, it was overcast and drizzly all day, there was only a light breeze, and I pitched next to water. By all rights I should have woken up soaked. It was bone dry inside. It’s super roomy for one person and I’m 6’1” 220 lbs with a long wide rectangular pad, so most folks will feel like they’re in a palace. Can’t recommend it enough.

My favorite tent is the Tarptent Double Rainbow DW. Got to testing it right away in January of this year with back to back big storms. After fixing some seam sealing issues from the first storm, the second storm brought 60mph wind gusts and 10 inches of rain. Not one drop of rain inside. Perfect for me being 6'3 and my whole pack. Look forward to bringing it on my next thru hike. Single wall is just not my style after three times on the Appalachian Trail.

Thx for your comments. I got interested in the rainbow and tarptent from the BE review that was so glowing for the LI but the DW will be better bc of the double wall and I like all the view out and stargazer mode. My hubby is 6’3” so it’s a good match for us. I’d not paid much attention to Tarptent before the great rainbow LI review. We’re out east so humidity is always a concern.

I _love_ that the cross bar on the Telos is butterfly-shaped; it's so visible that it really does improve that head height + inner width. It's such a small change that seems so obvious, & yet, it's kind of a lateral solution so I can see why it's not a common feature just yet. Another fine vid, Devin! :-D

I have the Aeon Li - for space & weight benefits. It is similar to the Zpacks Altaplex - 1P, single pole, just under 20oz, fits tall backpackers, uses 6 stakes but can be pitched without staking the apex line. Very quick to pitch and footprint is a little larger than the bathtub floor, which does allow for some internal gear storage. I was on a very crowded trail this past summer and was worried about camping spots - I was able to find an established site each night but I was glad that I could consider tent sites just a little bigger than my sleeping pad, The cross member at the apex is a little long which limits packability but I have adapted.

I'm interested in what would be the advantage of this tent compared to Bowfin?

I have been laid up with an injury since March. I had planned to use a new Locus Gear Khafra 4p DCF mid tent with a 3p net inner this season. At 9' squared, you would think it is too heavy, but it is only around 2.3 lbs. I can get it lighter using a 2p inner. Why would I want to use a 4p mid tent? Because at 6'-tall II find most tents are about six inches too short for me. My 4" pad means I bump the walls with either my feet or my head on tents like my Lanshan ll, which is an otherwise nice tent. It seems like it rains on all of my trips. A 4p tent allows me ample room to lay out my wet gear. It gives me a huge vestibule. I can sit in my Helinox in the vestibule with a 2p inner. Yet my mid tent probably is very similar in floor area to other 2p tents with vestibules. I mostly got the mid tent to use with my wife. I am very interested in the new Tarp Tent Dipole to replace my Lanshan ll on most solo trips. That tent only weighs 26 ounces. Not as light as the X-Mid Pro 2, but it is roomier inside and better-ventilated, which is a big plus with single wall tents. I would love to try both, but I can't. I have seen tall reviewers say the sloping wall on the X-Mid is either too close to their head or too close to their feet. I would be back to the Lanshan ll problem. If not the Dipole? I would get the Double Rainbow Li.

Totally agree with you. Spend more than 8 weeks in the Tarptent Double Rainbow Li this year, two larger bike packing trips in the US & Canada Rockies and Europe. I am using the extra liner, which makes it a - nearly - double wall experience and also reduces the "see-through" of the Dyneema significantly. With two entries it has a ton of venting options, depending of set up direction and changing wind conditions. Great space for one person and gear, ok enough space for two.

I do photo backpacking adventures often off the beaten path. So weight is a critical factor (camera gear is heavy even when keeping it to a minimum). Just got the Tarptent Dipole1 and so far really like it. Be nice to have a one pound tent but for a few more ounces this is sooo much more livable, great ventilation with only 4 stakes. I need a wide and long sleep system and the Dipole1 is way roomier than my Moment DW and far lighter.

This is a moral issue for me. Many products we simply have no options but fortunately in backpacking we do. I will stay with Zpacks, Lite AF, EE etc and avoid made in China when I can. Off that rant I can see by all the desert camping you do how important having a free standing tent is. That is something I have no experience with. I have only hiked in the desert but never camped. You said the Aspect 2 was the worst tent, but you didn’t even say why? How does that qualify as a review? I don’t even know if you used it, because you show no footage; all you show is set up.

Why do you call it a 3D pocket ,,,, is there a 2D pocket or some other dimension i dont know about ,,, man it bugs me when people make up fancy names for shit , its just a pocket not anything else ,,,, oooo look a kangaroo pouch , and interlocking zipper seal , and a sky dome cieling .......oh now i want it .............just call it what it is , stop embellishing to make it sound better then it actually is ....i used to be a janitor but i never told anyone to call me a sanitation engineer because it sounds better .....

I never was a Fan of Zpacks Tents. They are overpriced in comparison to the Competitors and these Tents are just warm Weather Tents , Not suited for Scandinavia where i hike usually
