On topic of whether kids making experiances on Roblox is illegal I'd like to add as a developer myself, most kids do this as a fun hobby. Similarly to how some kids play and build in bloxburg, I for example build and test in Studio, it just so happens that my creations get noticed and people offer to pay me and that experiances earn Robux on the platform. Most children don't develop in the sense a teen might work at Chick-Fil-A to earn and save up for something, but rather the fun of doing so which just so HAPPENS to earn a bit too.

I agree with you on this topic, it is not smart to sue Roblox for child labor, since children aren’t forced to do anything.

The first part of the lawsuit claiming to say children are doing child labor is crazy, but the second part saying roblox takes 70 percent I agree is kind of crazy and I truly think that needs to change but the first part is absurd.

The difference between a job and a hobby is that you're forced to work a job. And a hobby is simply a spare time activity. And if you can earn cash from that spare-time activity, then that's great. The point that Kreek makes about Roblox not forcing its audience to create anything makes Roblox unaccountable for potential child labor (Unless the moderators are children, which I can see as an option).

I am almost 15, and I have wanted to make games for a while (I still haven't since I have been busy studying and revising for upcoming exams/assessments. I don't think that this would be considered Child Labor as people do it because they want to, not because they have to. HOWEVER, I would not complain about getting some free Robux, and I don't think anyone here would either.

I technically wouldn't call this "child exploitation" since the kids are not technically hired by Roblox to make said games or items, but rather doing it of their own free will, as many other "user creator" games go. I don't know exactly what the rule is, but if people buy items in the games they create or pay for their items, the creators, or the kids, get said money in return for their efforts as well. So... it's like volunteer work, that the kids get paid for.

As a child a few years ago I used to make roblox games, my parents would help me make those games by hiring someone to teach me. So I don't think that's children exploitation

I don't think that it's labor, but the whole thing with robux and kids getting paid some and the adults getting payed some, it just seems like a weird system for children. But it's not worth shutting it down, I'd just say parents choose whether you're good with your kid getting into that or not.

Additionally, I wanna complain on how I used to play a game which is called 2-played computer tycoon. Well the servers used to be free and I didn’t play it for around about 1 year, and I didn’t realise they were charging me 100-500 robux every single month and I lost 2000 robux because of it. Children can’t make money from Roblox, because DevEx requires you to be 13 or older, have some tax stuff done, and a bank account.

I hope Roblox wins this battle I don’t want it to shut down! I use this to help me with my anxiety…playing games is fun! Not to mention most games are made by kids and most kids are good at making games~

I would like to add there is a genuine ethical issue, of how little oversight roblox has on developers Like you'd be surprised how many roblox game development studios have completely toxic work environments that kids aren't prepared for On one hand Roblox isn't directly involved with any of the development teams so it's not like they themselves are directly causing it, but the question is how do you fix it? There is also some shady comparisons you could make between robux and company town scrip Or how roblox uses it's own coding language which makes it more difficult to switch to non roblox platforms Or finally how little percentage developers make from their own games compared to what roblox takes

Wouldn’t that mean any game that relies on user creation (Rec Room, Minecraft (servers), games that allow mods, etc) are also part of this? Like they don’t force anyone to make the games, they’re not dependent on CHILDREN specifically making games (most games out there are made by adults anyways), and they sure aren’t expediting children to use them.

at January i brought 2 accessories and the next day it go content deleted and when i messaged ROBLOX for the refund they said no but after 1 week i got 65 robux out of no where i didn't even had pending so i assumed it was the content deleted refund??

if you do think of it 70% is alot the money they put in there pocket is the cut from games developers make that pie chart doesnt say anything about the 70% tax, that money is not used for anything other then pure pocket money if you make a career out of roblox, ROBLOX the company will take huge amounts of money you make plus tax from the games or catalog iteams so its more of a 95% if you add it all up.

Ok so I might be dumb but… when I purchase an item/clothes on Roblox, some of them get DELETED BY ROBLOX. The problem is I don’t get my robux back wich for me is a deal. I spent like 50 robux and it gets deleted it is just a bummer. Now I have more than 7 pants deleted and like 5 shirts deleted wich means 7+5 =12 12 ITEMS DELETED in my inventory. So my request for Roblox is for an item that gets deleted from ur inventory the robux should be back in their acc like I only have 2 robux cuz of this. I rlly hope Roblox change this ❤

The 2nd issue is actually a huge thing. If we are to continue going off of the steam comparison they have only 1 fee and a 1 single time purchase to upload games. On steam you have to pay $100 and you can then put an infinite amount of games on the Steam store. Then there is the fee from purchasing the game and in-game purchases BUT that only apply’s if you use steam wallet for the purchases. On the other hand Roblox has, if I am remembering correctly, 2 fees in this case. A positive is that you can put your game on roblox for free but it goes downhill bad from here. As said in the video roblox takes an ~70% cut of money made from your game. But that’s not it, roblox ALSO takes a 30% cut from any purchases in game. Sure there is premium payouts but the amout of robux you get from that is such a minuscule amount, unless your game is MASSIVELY POPULAR, it is not making much of a difference. So, let’s say you make $100,000 from your game. On steam we’ll go with this being your first game so $100 cut will be put into play. So then steam take a 30% cut from your pay and that would be 30% of $99,900. So you get $69,930 from your game. On roblox there is no upload fee of ant type so we’ll be using the base $100,000. First there is the 30% from roblox taking for in-game purchses so left with $70,000 and on top of that there is the 70% from DevEx so you only get $21,000. So on steam you would make $69,300 while on roblox it would be $21,000. The amount you get on roblox is about ~30% of steam and on roblox it’s even harder since most games are free and money is made from the game-passes (which is why basically every game on roblox is cash grabs). One thing to mention is there can be fees from game engines for the steam side but it is not enough to bridge the gap. Like I said before, although Steam does have in-app purchases, you can easily get around this (and steam doesn’t really care if you do) or just not have any in-app purchases. If I have made any mistakes in this please correct me in the comments!
