I recently travelled to Bali, Indonesia for a week!
Here is the complete breakdown of the entire trip! ✈️
Fun fact: 1 Indian rupee equals ~187 Indonesian Rupiah; so it is a country you can consider even on a budget! 🌟
- Flights and Visa: Indonesia has a visa on arrival for Indians and is available for $35. Also, there are no direct flights to Indonesia from India. I took a flight from New Delhi to Denpasar airport, Bali with a layover in Vietnam. 🛫
- Stay: I visited 3 places within Bali including Ubud, Sideman and Canggu. I booked Airbnb’s in all three places. I did not consider hostels for this trip or hotels as Airbnb’s in all three places were available at extremely affordable rates and catering to every price point. In 2 out of the 3 Airbnb's we even had access to private pools. 🏠
- Food: The food prices should take into account two things - I am a vegetarian and I don’t consume alcohol, so prices could go up significantly if you change the food options. Indonesia has plenty of food options available for vegetarians and vegans. I personally found the food to be a little bland but that is totally subjective. Although, the fruit and vegetable selection is a huge bonus. 🥗
- Experiences and Transportation: This includes all the sight-seeing and scooters/ cabs we rented. Most places of sight-seeing have a small entry fee - be it a monument or waterfall. Apart from this, scooters can also be rented for very cheap. Majority part of my cost here came from inter-city travel among - Ubud, Sideman and Canggu where we had to hire cabs. 🚕
A few more points to consider if you are visiting Bali:
- I did not indulge in any water sports like scuba diving so these costs are not inclusive of that. 🤿
- High speed wifi is freely available in literally every single café! 💻
- Souvenirs like fridge magnets, postcards cost 75% less in local markets as compared to the airport. 🛫
- Some places within Bali are more expensive than others. For eg: Sideman and Ubud were a lot cheaper than Canggu. ✨
