A 25 year old who can get that low - and he did have to struggle a little - is amazing. My Father and Grandfather were both trained Oktavists and I remember my Grandfather going very low and you couldn't really hear the note but you could feel it reverberating through the air. It'll be great to see what Dmitry will be capable of as he grows into a fully mature Basso Profondo.

@None Ya What does Moscovia the old name for Russia mean? Most names for countries have a meaning. that is nothing new. Yes it is an old Ukrainian song because Ukraine too has a tradition and culture. In fact the words to the song were written in the middle of the nineteenth century.
@catnap3873 роки тому
@None Ya Ukraine as a self governing independent state didn't exist but the people who shared a language, culture and traditions DID. They are known as Ukrainians. Ukraine's territory was occupied by imperial states namely Austro-Hungary and Russia who had their own names for the people of Ukraine. However the Ukrainians have a DISTINCT IDENTITY which has kept them together although their masters, Russia in particular, would prefer that Ukrainians would be ignorant of their distinct identity from Russia. Hence it is VERY IMPORTANT to emphasise what is Ukraine's so Ukraine's heritage does not get masked/hidden as Russian or anything else. There were several new independent countries created in the 20th century, Ukraine being one. In conclusion it is very correct to clarify that the song here is Ukrainian and not anything else!

We see too little of him, but he is obviously a master musician. In all my years in music, I have to confess to be overwhelmed by this performance. I have noticed most Ukrainian men have sonorous, deep voices (e.g. Zelinsky). Must be their Cossakh soul speaking/singing! Slava Ukraini.

My goodness, what a deep depth that young man has. And the choir beautiful balances his richness plus the music just echo the emotions
@sanchezking61884 роки тому
The description told me that this video is about a deep voice, but never was I prepared for anything like this. Im almost hypnotized from the depth, warmth and clarity of this mans voice. And of course of his ability to go this low at such a young age. This is a truly great performance and more people need to see it!

I'm a bass-baritone and can't even come close to this young man's vocal range. I have always been fascinated by how low the male voice can sing!!! Russians seem to have a monopoly on low notes in their folk and classical music both in performance and compositions. I would love to examine this young man's vocal cords!! They must be massive!!
@montynelson50333 роки тому
i'm a contrabass and am currently learning several oktavist pieces, trying to train my voice to this level
@lindamalone63803 роки тому
Watching this amazing performance I was so struck by his concentration. I saw him carefully inhale, pause, and then "sing" the last incredible note. Was that careful inhalation more for sustaining the sound or for the sound itself? or both? Is the length of the vocal cord (the uvula?) and breath control the key elements, relying on each other? The performer is obviously very large, but is that alone accountable for the length of his vocal cord (uvula)? Does age have anything to do with it as suggested elsewhere? (I sound like a three-year old, why, why, why. Well, I am, just older.)
