The last fight. How the crowd was celebrating the courage of the fighter that lost along with the winner. That is honorable fight culture. I really liked seeing that.

Big respect to those old school Japanese fighters. Those dudes never quit, no matter what. Like you said, doomed or not, a fight was a fight to the finish.

His FB cover, UKposts channel art and his Big DVD's of Combat are all my work and I can tell you that working with him and his wife has always been a good experience. He might have a (well deserved) reputation for his fighting skills but, they're also really nice people and very easy to work with. He was a little before my time, I never knew what an absolute legend he was or that there were even fights like this. This video was the first I've ever seen of Bas and im amazed.

I remember watching Bas fight from early on, the man is one of the best fighters I've ever seen. Technical, powerful, fast and a true old school warrior when it comes to honour in the ring.

I watched Bas throughout his career. He never backed down or gave up. He was relentless even when totally gassed, and always found a way to dig a bit deeper as was shown in the final fight shown here. Bas had the most wicked liver kicks and palm strikes of any fighter before or since imho.

Respected him as a fighter . After his retirement , I watched him in interviews. A nice , humble, funny guy . - So now I respect him as a man.

Bas is an absolute legend, it's pretty amazing that a lot of these fighters were able to get up after so many devastating blows. Just shows how tough as nails the old school fighters had to be to even stand a chance in the ring.

Bas Rutten is a hall of famer, a champion and still has his brain intact with no signs of CTE. Every time I see him I think of Colin Ferrel as bowlseye

I saw you in Los Angeles once in the early 2000's and I'm handicap ♿️ and you stood by the door to allow me to enter the Hotel. It was a heavy door and I was greatful. I thanked you and you simply did a hiya sound and gave me two thumbs 👍🏽 up. We didn't have phone cameras back then but I have the memory in my head forever. Truly a wonderful guy. The only guy on UKposts that has free, useful fighting techniques on his channel and also happens to be one of the best MMA fighters of all time. I love introducing guys double my age to Bas that never even heard of him which is crazy to even think of. Those liver shots are absolutely the most devastating blows. Really shows you how body shots are just as effective as head shots.

I’ve never seen another like Bas. His kicks and knees were so vicious and I give a lot of respect to anyone who had the guts to stand in the ring with him. Great compilation. 👍

I remember seeing him on a compilation VHS from blockbuster as a kid...have watched MMA ever since...I wonder how many fans of MMA that's true for..my bet its alot...he deserves more praise than he gets for this!

That was just an awesome video and display of what REAL fighting is. I never really followed Bas Rutten but after watching this he without a doubt was probably the best and most viscous fighter of his time. LOVED IT thanks for sharing.

One of my nephews trained in one of Bas Rutten's mma gyms a few years back. I got to meet him once. I can't say he was humble but he was very cool. Very confident. I could feel that I was in the presence of a champion, for sure.

An unbelievable warrior. Honestly, his skills are only out matched by his heart. You sir are class act. thank you for giving the people an example of how to never give up, how to dig through any weakness and turn it into a strength. your truly the goat. now take care of yourself and live well.

When I think of Bas, I see him as a pioneer and probably one of the first true martial artist, he came in and kicked butt, they figured him out, exploited his weakness to where he was able to actually morph his game and entered a whole new realm of MMA, the ground game. He was scary to face standing and was a monster in the clinch, and now was a monster on the ground.

Here's what I see. A true professional fighter. Trained, strong, durable, and very very intelligent. More importantly though, he is composed. He allows his intellect to drive the use of his physical gifts rather than emotion. There's no rage, no loss of composure when he finds himself in a more vulnerable position. Though the emotions are obviously present, his mind controls them.

bas was without a doubt the toughest fighter ever to enter the ring. my all time favorite. we miss his show.

Absolutely hilarious but lethal too. I messaged him around that time on an email and he replied to me as cool and polite as you could get. Great guy.

One of the most respectful and humble fighters. When he made mistakes he owned up to them but he always worked to better himself. Always caring about not going to far with his opponents always checking to see if they were OK. Hands down when of my top 3 fighters of all time.

I think it's even most impressive when despite the fame the guy stays humble and down to earth. Total respect.

Didn’t realize how good Bas was at jujitsu. Had heard his palm heal strikes were like hammer blows, and his kicks and knees striking was like being hit by a car. He has to be one of if not the best fighters in history.

I have seen this guy promoting karate combat. My initial impression was that he was a good mma kind of ufc fighter. This is beyond that. I didnt even think this combat sport excisted, let alone that he was a champion of one of the most brutal sport with guys that seems to eat nails for breakfast

I distinctly remember buying the only Pancrase PPV we ever got here in America. I was ALL about it, obsessed with shoot fighting from the initial UFC events & just young enough that the nearly 15 minute introductory video explaining all of the rules of Pancrase wasn't annoying, but intriguing. I VHS taped that single PPV & watched it over & over again, waiting for the next event to be offered & never seeing one

I wasn't an mma fan at the time. To be honest, the first time I saw BasRutten was in the movie Boom. I loved his character in the movie, then I saw him on Joe Rogan and realized, this guy is a legend. Did a deep dive on his career and I'm now a huge fan. What a monster! Now I'm a big fan of mma.

Most people who know something about the history of mixed martial arts know that Bad was beaten several times early in his career by people with jujitsu experience. People who could go for the neck or an arm lock or an ankle or knee continued to beat him for a while until he decided to figure out how to do it himself. Then he became so much deadlier.

One of the OGs, one of the greatest..... He is the reason I started my training.... He is freaking awesome and lethal.... :-)

Crazy I never heard of this man till now, and Brutal is an accurate discription of his attacks. The respect they show during those fights is great to see. The Japanese fighters have amazing will to keep going no matter what, seriously impressive.

One of my deepest regrets as a fight fan, was that Pacrease was so hard to view in America. Imagine how much more respect(he already gets a ton) Bas Rutton would get in the fight game had his great Pacrease fights been seen in America.

Shows a really interesting progression, improving his grappling skills after several losses to submissions. Great for binge watching. He also has an unintentionally hilarious self-defense "tutorial" video on UKposts that is legendary--showing is wacky sense of humor.
