Can your husband please tell us exactly what tools he used for this bathroom update. It looks very chic and I loved your video. I saw a skill saw, drill and I think a nail gun? What about tool to drill hole for sink drain? I’m purchasing a home on my own soon and need to buy some tools anyway to work on it. Thank you! Desiree

People always think videos like this are for people who are on a budget who can't afford a "better" reno. However the people who can throw money at something miss the opportunity to look at what's there with new eyes. What you did isn't only budget, it's also ecologically responsible and just as nice as if everything was purchased new. I love that you painted the shower hardware. People need to start looking at what they already own with pride and new eyes. THAT is worth something. Upleveled houses are so much better than "bought it all new but couldn't afford quality" Reno's.

When my parents built our home in 1985 we thought the carpet felt so soft and luxurious. Admittedly there wasn’t much foresight, but we had 8 years of coziness that the poor next family inherited. Now I have the biggest bath rug that I can fit in my washer. Still love stepping out of shower on to a plush, fluffy surface.

@@tonyadesormeaux3291 My exact question. Unless the smear is some type of special stuff it is brittle to the touch. I did this on the same wall board, but I painted it totally white and used the smear to make it look like a more natural brick, but then I put a coat of white paint over it. Some of this stuff yellows if you don't get the right stuff. Mine is in an outside room, 2 months now. We recently bought the same piece of wood for the counter-top in our bathroom remodel. It's nice to see that it works so nicely although I wish we had an existing counter to lay it on. Our old vanity is beyond repair and the new one has no top. I also appreciated your lighting solution. I added a swag hook back where one had been previously installed because we couldn't figure out how to remove the screw without damaging the ceiling. Now we have a hanging planter where I never knew I needed one. It's nice to take what you have and recreate it in a more favorable direction.

Turned out great. Didn't think I wouold like the brick paneling but it works there. Thanks for the info about the counter top. Thats a great solution to a new counter without ripping out the old one.

I must say that I am relieved that my husband and I are not alone in avoiding a bathroom altogether for years. We bought our house in 2016 and have not used our master bathroom since but will be remodeling it this summer. i feel seen 😅

I would really like an update on how that paint in the shower holds up after a few months. It looks so pretty! Also, how is the spackle on the wall holding up with the steam from the shower? It looks beautiful!

This turned out so gorgeous! I just finished repainting my tiny shower too. I painted my hardware black and got a black shower head too! Kinda regretting ripping out my shower door now that I see yours painted :( I’m gonna miss it but it was beat up and was holding water. Plus the shower curtain gives me a couple more inches of room when I need it! I’ll have to try the countertop when we do the next bathroom!! That looks awesome!

First time viewer here. I have to say initially, I wasn't crazy about the spackled brick. But oh my goodness, the finished room is beautiful. The wood trim around the window just completely finishes it out. Well done👏👏

Dude the tape trick! Nice! Thanks! That $33 countertop is such a great idea! You could do a large kitchen for a couple hundred dollars. You could use 3/4 plywood for the first layer, then pop that on top.

Laminate countertops are economical as well if you have a way to cut them. The higher priced ones were about 150 for a 10 foot section.

No way y'all. I have no skill, and I watched videos like this for inspiration, and actual PBS re-runs for the instruction, and I just re-did the front facade of my house to a black and white look. We can all do it. Or at least we're trying hard because Amazon is sold out of this black color, lol. Of course it took me 14 days vs 2-3 for the pros.

This bathroom turned out amazing!! It is night & day!! Love all the white, the German Schmear technique on the brick, mixed with the warm tones of the stained wood... just fabulous!! In fact, I love this so much there's only 1 thing I would have done differently and that's kept all metal finishes black (faucet & toilet paper holder) to match the shower fixtures & light. Usually I watch a video & there's a handful of things I would have done differently (personal preference), but not this one. You guys did a phenomenal job & it looks absolutely fabulous!!

That looks amazing. Looks better than the bathrooms in the McMansions we paint. However, you need to seal that spackle. It's porous and not moisture proof. It may turn moldy over time. I'm a painter and we use it almost daily and we always paint over it. Obviously clear coat is what you would need

Absolutely incredible for such a tiny shoestring budget. I’ve been doing DIY remodels for like 40+ years. I’ve done similar things when doing renovations for resale. Yep, I put that stinky stuff on a 70’s Formica sink top..incredible difference but the smell!! My only difference of opinion would be leaving the corian window sill which I like and put in my own house. Great job!
