This movie broke my heart as I watched it for the first time last year 💔 So many of my favourites (Kawada, Utsumi, Chigusa, Hiroki)…all dead. 😞 I know it’s just a movie, but I became so attached to the characters, as if they were my own friends, and I was going to lose them. I honestly felt so much sadness for all of them, especially Kawada and Utsumi. Hell, even Mitsuko. None of them deserved to die such horrible deaths, except Kiriyama. I was really hoping that Kawada would escape the island alive with Shuya and Nakagawa; his death was devastating. I hope he and Keiko are together in paradise. The ending of the movie truly made me burst into tears, as Shuya and Nakagawa abandon their lives in Tokyo for a new life on the run. 🥺💔 Battle Royale is a cult classic masterpiece that deserved so much more during the period it was released.
