Could you clarify how would a carpet curling be a safety issue to the car? I understand it might look bad or be an inconvenience for the user who will need to repeatedly straighten or unfold them. But I do not fully understand why would that be a safety issue.

Actually this is something that has happened in the past with ICE car manufacturers. I remember seeing a documentary/investigation about accidents caused by this many years ago. Car mats/carpets getting caught above the accelerator pedal causing unexpected acceleration, or under the pedals causing loss of braking or power. Hence this is something that all car manufacturers should be are aware of.

It's not that easy to go up against the world's second richest man (or whatever he is right now) particularly at a time when someone is seriously ill. This is not the first time Elon has acted spitefully against employees who have raised safety concerns and when the US government wanted to inspect some of his operations for safety issues if I'm not mistaken he spent months denying them access.

From the Past it's shown Elons workethic at times is that he wants a certain thing a certain way and doesn't want it changed. So she Probably cared more about the safety than whatever compromise is needed for the safety. So far she said this happened a decade ago, and I haven't heard of any issue relating to this issue she said , so maybe she was wrong about the safety concerns but how the company addressed it isn't still right.
