In the first game of the year when the Bengals converted that fourth down in overtime against the Vikings, I told a friend that it wasn't as risky a call in overtime as it would have been in regulation. I felt like a tie would be the same as a loss in this division this year, the only way to win it would be through the win column. I'm sure the Steelers feel that way at the moment. Look at the standings now, if Cleveland wins tomorrow all four teams will have six losses.

There is a big difference. Bengals knew check down Teddy (I pray that he is okay) will not stretch the field. Bengals had to change their approach. Broncos were able to run the ball better when Lock was in the game. I know the Bronco receivers were happy to know that the ball would be thrown to them if they ran a go route. Bad offensive line and poor coaching/play calling doomed Denver. Give Bengals credit in the win against the underachieving Broncos. If only Denver had a competent qb and more importantly...a coaching staff!

Lock throws some beautiful passes! He just needs to sure up his ball security and play just a little smarter. Our passing game was better with him in which opened up the run even more. If teams had to respect the pass against Denver the Broncos could run the ball all over everyone. Their RB's are outstanding.

If the Bengals finish 2-1 by beating the Ravens and Browns to end up 10-7 and 5-1 in the division that would be good enough unless Pittsburgh wins out (which is unlikely - they also have to play the Chiefs, Browns, and Ravens). I wouldn't complain about 11-6 though!

While unlikely, there is a world where all 7 AFC teams end at 11-6, in which case the first seed would be Cincinnati

Honestly I didnt have a whole lot of expectations going into this season for us. Kinda suprised we're at where were at now but I'm encouraged at what I'm seeing but clearly there is a bit of work that needs to be done off season.

If you're talking about that sequence at the end of the first half, that was a 6-point swing in three plays. In a game with both offenses struggling I thought the Broncos not only not getting 3 but the Bengals picking up 3 might wind up being critical.

The underthrown TD to Sutton by Teddy and the fumble inside the 10 yard line is 2 possible TDs . And the 6 pt swing before half .

@@snave59 Actually, McPherson left Florida after his junior season, which is kind of surprising because that season was easily his worst (just 77% on field goals). His career percentage was still an SEC record, but leaving after a mediocre season like that was a huge gamble on his part. I'm certainly glad it worked out.
