It's hard to put to words how much I hate Griffith. He's so polite and innocent it's impossible not to fall for him. It's not even that his behavior is an act. He's genuinely so polite, intelligent, level headed, skillful, well spoken and just downright fascinating. The only part of his behavior I would call an act is his modesty. But even then it isn't that he thinks highly of himself. He knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's fated to be something above other men. Just look at how he conducts himself with the princess. He has practically every quality any person could ever hope to be, and yet this is what he does with it. He never says a word that won't further his ambition. Never forms a relationship for reasons other than his own gain. This is the philosophy he builds, the path he chooses to take. Then again, fate is such a big part of Berserk. The universe goes out of its way to make sure Griffith keeps going, keeps getting closer to his goal. So maybe that anger shouldn't be directed at Griffith himself, but at the world that gave the man everything only to destine him to misuse it like this. Still, every time the veil drops a bit and you get reminded of his single minded ambition, it feels like a betrayal.

"Egg of the King," sounds like it could be the name of a particularly brutal King of the Hill special.

This strangely haunting, but kinda beatiful in a way. Very poetic too. Never seen beserk, but this story of Guts and Griffith is interesting. All I know about berserk is the eclipse and the dark soul references. The story moves pretty fast but it's interesting seeing small changes in guts every scene. I find his loyalty to Griffith inspiring for some reason.

This series has such a unique atmosphere that the movies just don't have, I think that's mostly because of the gorgeously painted backgrounds and Susumu Hirasawa soundtrack

Haven’t seen too many comments on it so I just wanted to say I love that you opened with the end of the eclipse. Really makes this feel like a grand epic being told with fate guiding our characters the entire way

Berserk had been my favourite anime since the first time i ever watched it. Love everything about it.

New Berserk fan here, I’ve read the manga up to the point where Guts and Griffith play with the buckets, but the mangas are quite expensive so I watched this. At first I was worried that I would be missing something that the show skips, and as a result I wouldn’t be invested, I mean I don’t even know the names of the two blonde boys in the Hawk band (Like Judas and Rephial or something) but the moment where Guts goes on that mission at the end and… I was completely shocked, and now I’m completely hooked. Look forward to finishing this trilogy, and then reading what the show had to skip, thank you for making this!

The 90s anime is fantastic, of course it doesn't have the artistic beauty or the completeness and complexity of the manga, but the characters are real, the animation is good (very classic style), and the soundtrack is the best I have ever heard in any anime series (it is wonderfully composed and fits the story).

Old anime style feels so weighty and powerful, for some reason even when a modern anime character splits a planet in half, for some reason it doesn't even project the strength that an old anime character has when swinging his sword
