I'm 12 weeks into wearing my hearing boosters. I've been playing guitar and singing for 35 years and was teaching until my hearing loss. So far my experiences were I had to remove them to listen to music or play guitar as they destroyed the sound of the music. I have been removing boosters from ears turning the bass down and the treble way up and the volume on my stereo-system slightly higher to get anything close to listenable. It still does not sound good at all really. I didn't want to dive straight into UKposts videos until I'd tried the boosters out so this was the first video I happened to click-on. I'd like to thank you for giving me hope. I haven't tried your recommendations yet but I'm looking forward to doing so. Looking at all the thumbnails that have appeared and watching your video and reading the comments actually made me cry. I have felt so alone since I lost some of my hearing, I'm in England so my NHS audiologist just put the boosters in and said "See you in 3 years". I asked if they would help with music and she just said "No they are for conversation". Watching this video and seeing all the content appear by other creators felt like a great-big hug and I don't feel quite so hopeless and alone in this now. Thankyou.

I am a musician who recently began using hearing aids. I tried Jabra and Oticon, but they were poor with music even with adjustments by an audiologist. Now I have Widex Moment, and the difference is amazing. My Widex hearing aids are much more natural sounding, especially with music.

Finally a subject close to my problem. I have hearing loss, I am a musician, why I hear music out of tune? I am not able to tune my guitar by myself anymore, people complaint that I sing flat, It is so embarrassing, my pitch is not even relative pitch, I used to have perfect pitch when I was young. Many audiologist are good but not many relative with music and singing or Pitch. Help.. Anyone with similar symptoms? It's so frustrating not able to enjoy hearing music.

I am getting used to my new Resound One hearing aids that replaced my previous Resound hearing aids. The Resound One HA's distort the sound of my nylon string flamenco guitar, so that the sound is "raucous" with strange "resonance" ( not fret buzz). I didn't have this problem with previous Resound aids. The problems disappear with hearing aids removed but sound is "deadened". Any recommendations on possible adjustments to fix this problem for my audiologist will be greatly appreciated.

I got a standard slope medium hearing loss and am an active musician playing rock music. I'd like to use my hearing aids on stage both to get a good sound experience while also working as a hearing protection. I'm testing a pair of Phonak Lumity P90 with vented domes. I got my audiologist to configure an on-stage music program with all features disabled and a 360 degree pickup range. I will try that out together with power domes (for protection). I don't seem to be able to find out the bitrate of my current HA's so will see how it works out. Now, my question is if I am on the right track or if I can optimize my on-stage sound experience in any other way? Thanks for a great video.

Hi doctor, I am blind from birth and latened hearing impaired musician. I have a moderate to seveere hearing loss and still perform mostly for my church. For about almost four years, I've used a resound 9-- series cala resound pair of hearing aids. These hearing aids have pretty decent music sounding quality. I especially like the audio streaming. It is truly a game changer. I also like the live listen for potential assistive listening like a personal fm system. Is there a way to get rid of latency with live listen feature? The delay is terrible. Also, is there a way to use my iphone as a in the ear monitor? Thanks for sharing this and I look for to your response. Lance

Please ask your hearing healthcare provider about the Resound TV streamer. It can stream any audio to Resound hearing aids without the live listen latency issues. Also ask the sound board operator if they are able to run a custom live sound mix into the TV streamer for music monitoring. The TV streamer 2 offers up to 23 feet line of sight transmission. Halo I just suddenly realised I can't hear low frequency in my right ear n it feels like blocked about few days ago, at first I thought my earbug was faulty but then realised its my own hearing issue, I'm super upset as I'm a big music lovers on music/songs with good bass n beats, now I can't hear the bass n music sounded so rough n tasteless i dont enjoy them anymore. I've just gone to a ENT speacialist who doesn't look promising, she said it's sudden sensisory loss the chance of improving is only 30%. Do u think hearing aid can help me gain back my enjoyment to quality good bass music..? I heard that it is super difficult to be successful with low frequency hearing aid, this just upset me further... Hope to hear from u or anyone who could share n advise, many thanks.

I plan to take these recommendations to my audiologist when I see her next month. I'm not sure I agree with the one about reducing compression. I sometimes wish my hearing aid did more compression, since I find I'm constantly turning the volume up and down on the playback device to avoid distortion of the loud passages, yet be able to adequately hear the soft passage.

Hi! I play 7-, and 8-string guitar, 7-string acoustic guitar, and octave mandolin. I wear Phonak Naida Q70UP btes (I have basically a profound loss). My audiologist gave me a music setting that mimics analog HAs (as best she could). I've noticed that (beyond just how loud acoustic instruments really are!) my acoustic sounds more, "natural," while my electrics sound horridly pitch-altered (1/2 step lower and higher, in addition to the original note). Why do acoustic instruments sound, "better," than electric, and what can I ask my audi to do, to make them sound more like my acoustic??
@ProFitHearing
@ProFitHearing 2 роки тому
You may be hearing more low frequencies from the acoustic giving it a more natural sound. You could try adjusting the electric's tone controls to bring out more lows. Your audiologist may also consider a secondary, non-linear program for music with or without frequency shifting/compression to see if you notice any improvement in sound quality when playing your electric instruments. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
@jweber53
@jweber53 2 роки тому
I play bass and guitar and I've also noticed certain frequency ranges don't give me a good sounding octave. Like the G string on my bass (about 100 Hz) and the harmonic octave (about 200 Hz) sounds a half step sharp. I notice this less with more occlusion and lowering the aid volume and raising the source volume. I'm wondering if this could be Comb Filter Effect, which is the latency in the hearing aid mixing with the direct sound at the eardrum, out of sync and potentially causing many odd effects. So I guess it's not desirable to have the aid competing with direct sound, either through less latency or more occlusion. What say you Dr. Pro Fit?

any hearing aids for musicians should mention the lack of bass and hence, is there any HA out there that can produce good bass at all. thks
@ProFitHearing
@ProFitHearing 2 роки тому
Hearing aids provide low frequency gain to approximately 100 Hz. To optimize bass response, a more occluding earpiece can be used. The earpiece is selected by your hearing healthcare professional to properly accommodate the hearing loss thresholds. Please ask your provider whether a special program can be added to optimize music quality. Thank you for the comment and for watching!
@jweber53
@jweber53 2 роки тому
@@ProFitHearing 100 Hz isn't near low enough. Low string E on a 4 string bass is 41 Hz. I would also like an answer to the question asked by Eric Chan. Specifically, do BTE RIC hearing aids produce good music sound quality like ear buds? They seem to advertise bluetooth streaming audio as a feature, but is it really any good? Right now I'm using Lexie Lumens as my best choice HA so far and they've been good enough to implement some of the adjustments you mention in their Music program. They are only rated to 200 Hz so I rely on my normal hearing to pick up the bass and the HA to provide high frequencies. I get the balance by adjusting both the music source volume and the HA volume until it sounds good (and it can sound very good) and I use partial occluding closed domes which attenuate the treble but seem to pass the bass well. Playing my instruments can also be enjoyable again, but I fear my settings will be unacceptable to other musicians (if I ever play with other musicians again). I wish the HA industry would get over it's obsession with only understanding speech.
@ProFitHearing
@ProFitHearing 2 роки тому
@@jweber53 Yes, overall the sound quality of a BTE RIC hearing aid should be as good if not better to a listener with hearing loss than an earbud. The bass response is the limitation, however perception of bass can improve with a more occluding dome. An audiologist can determine if this is appropriate for the person's hearing thresholds. Thanks for the comment!

Update, My audioligist changed the settings for my Resound One's so that the one button press gives one chime and a normal speech setting, the next press gives two chimes and a "restaurant" setting, the next press gives three chimes and a guitar play/music setting where my nylon string guitars now sound normal without brassy or other strange reverb sounds from strings. What a relief! BTW, my audiologist was unwilling to review Pro Fit recommendations from this video, don't know what adjustments he made.

With my Philips 9030's, I've found that using the noise reduction program (all noise reduction values are set to max in this program) results in much less tinny of metallic sounds from my guitars, especially the acoustic ones. Whereas the "music" program, which has all noise reduction set to off is horrible for live music. Yes there's more treble with the music program but make guitar notes sound distorted and horrible. I will sometimes bump the volume up 1-2 dB in the noise reduction program but more than that and metallic nature of an acoustic guitar becomes annoying and not real sounding. I think all acoustic guitars have some metallic sounds of the metal strings hitting other frets depending on the action height, relief and how hard the person is playing, especially with a pick as opposed to the fingers only. And the HA can really pick this up without any noise reduction to damp that sound. Just my experience so far. Wish I could afford to try the Widex HA since I've heard good things about them from other muscians.

Nobody mentions what I think is going on. I think that hearing aids are modulating the high frequency sounds with about a 50 hz tone to produce a buzz sound to make those high frequencies more hearable. That may be called frequency shifting, but really isn't. It definitely helps with speech, but kills music.
