@@UNCLEMOMO actually it was originally for Ukrainian soldiers who fight against Russian aggression at the east of Ukraine, but shortly before they released the song, situation in Belarus happened, so they changed the song. Now the song is in support of both: for those who fight for Ukraine and those who fight for Belarus and in both languages. P.S. Like your reaction

Я слухаю цю пісню зараз і це звучить просто як крик болю за зраду такого близького нам народу Білорусі. Ми співали "Живе Білорусь", але вона вмерла в наших очах, бо вони здалися, і від них на нас летять ракети...

@@UNCLEMOMO yeah ruZZia basically controls Belarus, Lukashenko just puppet head. And Russian army uses Belorus territory to launch missiles at Ukraine, because of Belarus territory being close to Kyiv. And it's from Belarus territory that the invasion on Kyiv was launched in Feb 2022. Bucha tragedy- the soldiers who came from Belarus caused that. Interesting fact: despite Russians claiming them and Ukrainians are brotherly nations and Ukrainiane language doesn't exist and just a variant of Russian, the truth is we just share the same script - Cyrillic, but the languages are as different as English and French lol. AND even the vocabulary Ua and Ru language share is one of the smallest in all Slavic languages. In fact, the most vocabulary Ukrainian language shares with Belarussian language - 80%. Then in the 2nd place - Polish - 60%. With Russian, Ukrainian language shares only 45%. Russians do not understand neither Ukrainians, nor Belarussians when we speak in our native languages. BUT any Ukrainian can understand a Belarussian when they speak, even if they never heard it before, and vice versa. This song is actually half in Ukrainian, half in Belarussian language. And when I first heard it, that was my first time hearing Belarussian, and I didn't even realise the language change at first 😂 I just kept listening understanding what was being sang, and then I was like - "wait, wat, this is not Ukrainian I am hearing"😂😅

The letter "C" in Ukrainian is always pronounced as "S" even in combination with "K", so "СКАЙ" sounds as SKAY in fact it sounds exactly the same as SKY in English because that's where they took the name from.

Unfortunately, Belarus never understood that freedom is won with blood, they did not manage to get rid of their dictator and puppet Kremlin, as we managed to do in 2014. Today, Belarus is actually involved in this war🙁

This song was written when Belarussians were protesting against rigged elections, to free themselves from Lukashenko regime. Ukrainians singers and famous media persons tried to support them with it. Half of the singers are ethnic Belarussian, half - Ukrainians. The song is half in Ukrainian, half in Belarussian. Ukrainian and Belarussian are the closest languages in the Slavic language tree, sharing around 80%. Second is Polish - sharing 60% with Ukrainian. Any Ukrainian would understand a Belarussian and vice versa, even if neither of them ever heard the other language before. Russians though do not understand neither Ukrainians nor Belarussians when they speak. Ukrainian and Russian are more like English and French - sharing about 40% vocabulary, the same writing script, but completely different phonetic systems. The flags and colours you see in the clip - are Ukrainian flag and the true Belarussian flag (Lukashenko's regime has Belarus going under a different fake flag) The phrase that keeps being repeated in the song - "Nothing will stop the idea, the time of which has come" - is a famous quote by Stepan Bandera. He also once said "There will come a time when one person says "Glory to Ukraine!" and millions will answer him "Glory to heroes!" (Slava Ukrayini - Heroyam slava) - at that time Moscow completely owned Ukraine, USSR going strong, Bandera and and his soldiers fighting a losing partisan war (when he accepted his role as the leader of that army, he famously said "I accept this death sentence") - after they were defeated USSR existed for around 50 years after that, and they completely vilified him by propaganda, so, for small number of Ukrainians those words of his was more like a pipe dream for decades, even after USSR disbanded. You can imagine how it feels now when they are true. If you just come out on any street in Ukraine and yell "Slava Ukrayini!" - every person in hearing distance would yell back "Heroyam slava!" "Zhyve Belarus" - "Long live Belarus" is the sacred phrase to free Belarussian ppl, so this is why you see both "Slava Ukraini" and "Zhyve Belarus" together here in this clip. We were really hoping for Belarussians to succeed in 2020, so that we could stand united against Russian imperialistic expansion. Alas, they didn't, and since then Lukashenko became a true puppet head. And Putin uses Belarus territory to launch missiles at us. Kyiv invasion of 2022 also started in Belarus territory because it is closest to Kyiv.
