@Tammy Thomas Are they every where where you live? Or do you mean in general? Have you had experienes? I live d n Missouri for 36 yrs.. I remember seeing huge X's in the timber on vac etc I asked about that several times. No locals paid ATTN but they stuck out to me. I've always been fascinated by BF & read & watched everything -way before WWW & X's & BF were linked. But felt the odds of seeing one a billion to 1. Then just within last 5 yrs had 4 sightings in 3 counties. It's been over a yr since last one. But I believe there is a population where there is sufficient food & water sources & adequate coverage. I believe they're intelligent, adaptive & cunning. I believe they want to survive like we do & willing to do what it takes like us. Seeing them altered my reality - you can't go back & unsee & unhear them. I read & listen to everything BF forvthe details. I'm puzzled as anyone about them & think the details are even more valuable personally. My 3rd experience- I worked nites as a temp fill-in 7p-7a for 7 nites over 3 weeks. I'd filled-in days several times over the yrs & a single crow call from a low spot in a big group of trees at the end of my days there had me taking pics before my 1st sighting ever. Nites once told me the old fam home was haunted. I asked the mgr about it & they said their was a big mouse nest found in the closet in the guest room that butted up to the old den we worked outbof. They tunneled in from the exterior along the length of the wall into the closet shelf but pest guy took care of the issue. NOT! That den ceiling was very low exposed beam no attic space. My 1st nite -mice next door, a pic right behind my head shifted lite footsteps across the ceiling from kitchen & stop over my head, sniffing at the wdws & bump on patio & saw people shadows in a groundfog from an unseen pole lite behind a maint bldg at the back of property but decided limbs swaying. !Just before daylight I freaked -lots of darting in & out movement toward house from there! 20-30 wild turkeys. 😂 WOW Owner said every day forever! I tried to ignore the mice, pic sway & footsteps on the ceiling as temp chg. Mice hwy from roof down behind pic caused swaying. Mice party next door & footsteps more bolder & more frequent. Scrape of metal patio furniture, patio door handle hit. Then the steps started following me every where I went inside. Then I heard a pounce preceding bolder steps - it's on the roof &It's standing over my head -is that breathing? WTH I slid down in my seat. I tried standing in dark areas - in the mudroom by back door & the 1/2 bath we used. Both times there was loud sniffing. Unnerving. The mice were frantic as the pounce & footsteps getting heavier -:It's after THEM! I heard backdoor knob tried. The last nite - I heard something glass move next door & voices like 2 people next door. I opened door but saw nothing. Like 3am, mice as scurrying & shreiking last pic as something big crash lands on roof & runs across roof & loud sniffing. My head is where my ass was staring up & I heard a funny sound WTH is it doing? Then a metal-on-metal screech & the pic above me is flip flopping & swinging on its wire. I hopped up when I saw dust & debris falling down &"I could see flashes of something silver metallic moving around- it was PROBING their tunnel. I hid in the guest qtrs main bath with a small shuttered wdw. I went to use our 1/2 bath after 2 hrs & heard what sounded like someone walking with a walker down the short hallway from the kitchen. WOW SOMEONE IS HERE - YEA! I yelled HEY I'M BACK HERE! BE RIGHT OUT! I FLUSHED & FOITSTEPS CLOSER. JUST GOTTA WASH MY HANDS. BET YOU WANDERED WHERE I WAS. FOOTSTEPS STOP OUTSDE THE DOOR & AS I REACHED FOR TOWEL NEXT TO DOOR. THE FREAKING KNOB TURNS. IRRITATED NOW COS IT'S UNLOCKED I SAID I'M IN HERE!! I YANKED THE DOOR OPEN & NOBODY! 7AM COULDN'T COME FAST ENOUGH! I WAS SCARED. NO TURKEY. 7A I WAS PUTTING MY BAGS IN MY CAR & I NOTICED 2 DEER GRAZING ALONG ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE FIELD. IT WAS TOO FAR BUT DUG MY CELL OUT FOR A PIC & TOOK ONE. UNNOTICED YET SO I STARTED ZOOMING IN & EERIE HOLLOW MIMIC OF HUMAN WHISTLE THAT WAS SO WRONG. WE ALL 3 TURNED TOWARD IT. THEN CRASHING BRUSH & GROUND THUDS & BOTH DEER WERE GONE. THRASHING, SWAYING BRUSH WERE ONLY VISIBLE SIGNS I COULD SEE. THE SNARLING, GROWLS & GRUNTS MADE IT PAINFULLY OBVIOUS. IT GAVE ME THE CHILLS BUT I STOOD STUNNED . WONDERING & STARING AT THE MOVEMENT. I TRIED TO TAKE PICS BLINDLY POINTING MY CELL IN DIRECTION BUT MY HANDS WERE SHAKING & IT WAS TOO FAR AWAY. REALIZED THERE WAS 2 OF THEM WHATEVER THEY ARE! THEN SILENCE & JUST DEEP LABORED BREATHING. THEN A DEER SCREAM & GRUNT OF SURPRISE. A SHORT SCUFFLE & JUST THE HEAVY BREATHING. SOMETHING DARK DROPPED DOWN FROM A TREE BEHIND THE BRUSH. DIRECTLY IN FROM OF ME IS A WIDE OPENING IN THE TREES. SUDDENLY SOMETHING DARK IS SCURRYING ACROSS THE FAR BACK FROM L TO R ON ALL 4. AS THE LOUDEST, CRAZIEST MIX OF JUNGLE SOUNDS STARTED JUST L OF ME. A WAVE OF SHRIEKS, SCREAMS, HOWLING CALLS IT DROPPED DOWN INTO MONKEY OOH-OOH, AH-AHS! THE CREATURE AT THE BACK SLOWED DOWN & STOOD UP LOOKING MY WAY - IT LOOKED LIKE A BIG CHIMP WITH LIGHTER FACE. IT NODDED IT'S HEAD LIKE IN AGREEMENT - IT RAISED ITS ARMS & DID A COUPLE OF SIDESTEPS & AS IT TURNED TO CONT R - IT DID A COUPLE OF LOOPY WRIST MOTIONS & DISAPPEARED. THAT WAVE HIT ME INSTANTLY ALL OVER - SHAKING, EVERY HAIR STOOD LIKE WIRE, TEETH CHATTERING,HEART POUNDING, CHEST TIGHTNESS HAD ME SUCKING AIR IN RASPY GASPS & PANTING. I WAS LOOKING AROUND FOR THE SOURCE OF A SOUND THEN REALIZED IT WAS MY TEETH CLACKING TOGETHER! 7-10 WAVES FROM VARIOUS POINTS! I SAW MY CELL & REALIZED MY BIG ERR NOT USING VIDEO FOR SOUNDS! The sounds IMMED diminished at my thought of trying to open app & staying longer. &%$# Got it on & finally 2 single calls & grunt nothing compared to waves but it captured my fear standing there. The longest 27 seconds ever!! There is a dot of something zip across the opening midway. I thought of that whistle & my head spun around so fast - nada. I dove IN MY open car door. I left asap but the shaking & head swiveling around - it took forever to locate, drop, insert the key! The hunt overshadowed the activity preceding it. The haunted rep & mice made me kept my mind denying what I SAW in my head walking bi-pedal. Ignoring it made it more brazen on the roof. How I went 2-3 nites after the 1st pounce - he'll if I know. That last nite was the scariest until I went outside. It creeps me out to think of the crashing on the roof & crunching steps coming to stand over me, metal screeching. But the memory of all the sounds I heard in the field that day makes my hands shake & my heart pound. They are intelligent & they'll get a reaction from you - one way or another. I bet they are still laughing. I'm still shaking but realize new ways of interpretting their behavior. One thing, if you live in a rural area that has BF & you have mice - get rid of them! LOL OH YEAH - USE VIDEO!!!!
