Me too, buddy. Because, as white people, we grew up internalizing a bunch of shit we now know is wrong. But that shit surfaces sometimes, automatically. Your first thought is always something you have internalized. But then you're free to question that thought, to reject it if it needs to be rejected. To question it if it needs to be questioned. And that is the power. That is how you change. Not by magically not having a first thought that's "wrong", but by having a second thought that is more right than the first.

“Certain people want you to justify what they view you to be. And you can’t give them that right” OH absolutely. Some people will be subjective as hell and hide it under the objective view and tell you it's completely an objective view entirely as that exact justification, quite like a subtle variation of the 1984 plot. You most certainly can't give them that right, not even a millimeter. Probably the biggest perk of having a small circle, easier to cut ties to the blatant red flags. Had run into a person who was just like that; and knowing about how Pevlov's Dog is in psychology, I said, "you can miss me with that bullshit, not-negotiable, look that definition up if it's that confusing as hell to you. The act of listening is not entitled obedience, go-away...shoo...bye...holy-shit..." Just gotta know how to put your foot down against those special individuals! 🤣

The truth, in my opinion, is that the division between men and women actually heavily influences couples and marriages in a negative way, which has clearly resulted in generations being raised in less than ideal circumstances. All the studies as a whole, show that good parents in a strong relationship raise the most level-headed and productive children with a very small total of exceptions. @willl 88 so there is poverty, homelessness, a mental health crisis, an opiate crisis, police brutality, mass imprisonment, a corrupt president, and your pick is affirmative action a 20+ year old idea that is rarely actually affirmed except in this one instance and maybe in jobs sometimes and at least started as a good thing?? Okay..
@DougieFresh1414
@DougieFresh1414 4 роки тому
@willl 88 that was the most straw hat "damn liberals" argument ever. I didn't say shit about America being perfect, I didn't say anything about what the original post said, I am replying to your comment. You said that affirmative action is rotting America implying that it is if not the biggest, one of the biggest problem. I said no, not at all first all its focus is to help MINORities, (meaning there's less of), that were impoverished, broken, and struggling extremely hard to get jobs and into school so that's the big problem huh? Lmao. And school huh? First of we don't have enough of those for white people to get into right lol? Second.. how many minorities were involved in the college admissions scandal? Little to none? Hmm so what does that say about how "fair" it is to all these poor wittle white people who couldn't give their daddy's money to get into college wah wah. So unjust right? Yeah those black people who a lot of grew up in the ghetto, dealing with poverty, crime, drugs, and prostitution did just as good if not very close to, suburban sheltered kids test scores. Yeah we aren't equal minorities to this day are still brutalized, mass imprisoned, killed and discriminated against. That's inequality if ever saw it
@DougieFresh1414
@DougieFresh1414 4 роки тому
@MK912 yeah I feel like a huge part of affirmative action was just putting the idea in our heads that the government actually cares about minorities. Just like other programs such as welfare, and government assisted housing but really it's very small numbers of actual success among those who are in them. The guy does have one point though that yes there is some unfairness in the idea of Job and school equality if they aren't as skilled as the other guy. So what we should be doing is actually helping minorities get better schools, housing, medical, and job programs so they can be just skilled and independent.

Yep. Projection is rampant today. Ppl have done zero work on themselves and blame everyone else for their own perceptions and issues. We can only control ourselves and the only way to fix the direction we’re going is if everyone gets some therapy and starts figuring out what they need to work on to become a better version of themselves. And with that comes thinking for oneself and being way less reactive. All ppl do today is react to things and they never take responsibility for those overreactions that tend to hurt ppl even more than the initial thing they were reacting to. Social media and the ease/expectation of sharing ones unfiltered opinions has sped up our demise as a collective exponentially, it’s given us all some inherently narcissistic (and sometimes psychopathic) traits that need to be acknowledged and dealt with before anything outside of us can change. Half of me is hopeful for our future and half of me is terrified.

The first time I heard "white privilege" from my black Friend I was going through a hard time. I was worried because I was losing my home and had no money. I said "please, that is offensive" I can't afford dinner at this moment and I anxious. He said "you don't struggle, you have white privilege". I may be white but I am human and he was meant to be my friend, I just needed him to listen. I agree, just treat people as human first and foremost. Listen to each others struggles so we can all learn from each other.

This reminds me of a conversation I recently had with my uncle. We talked about everything from politics to religions, and he'd just ask me 'What do you think about this?' By doing so he challanged me to take a stance, to think things through, all the while making me feel like I was being heard. He said that it's always important to be willing to listen. A metaphor that he used, that I'll always remember is this. "Inside the pedicel of a flower, there is nothing but emptiness and darkness. It's a great contrast to the rest of the flower, but that emptiness is necessary for the flower to bloom. All those different elements of the flower meet and create a beautiful thing. We as people can have completely different view points, but when we listen to each other, our thoughts can morph into something just like that flower".
