Silver Surfer at the time was almost completely drained of cosmic power, at 1% or less, so until he proved to Spiderman his intentions were good (back when he was mostly known for being a Herald) all his normal abilities were so nerfed they were useless against Spiderman, and since Silver Surfer isn't much of a martial artist, all he could really do was fly around until he couldn't. A better example is when Spiderman fought Firelord, another herald of Galactus. After Spiderman tricked him into blowing up explosives point blank twice, Firelord still wasn't really hurt, but his main weapon, his cosmic fire-staff, was temporarily away from him, and considering running was a death sentence, Peter inadvertently took advantage that Firelord was crap using his fists, and in a very rare case, unleashed all his strength, speed, agility and spider sense, and basically activated his fight-or-flight response to full fight, and decided to wail on Firelord until there was no energy left in his own body. Basically refusing to burned to death by a pride-obsessed lunatic, and too scared to let up his punches, kicks and dodges for even a millisecond. Even Peter isn't sure how long he kept at this, but essentially Spiderman jackhammered Firelord's body from every angle until Firelord finally lost consciousness.

Likely because any individual one of Spidey's abilities isn't THAT up to snuff, and his preference for street-level crime. He's superhuman, but none of his individual superhuman abilities are that much more than others with those powers - like, Hawkeye knows he has super strength, but to Hawkeye, Super Strength is the Hulk. What people forget is his experience level, and the fact he has a lite version of the full flying brick powerset (3d movement, a projectile attack, and superhuman speed, strength and durability) which isn't super common in marvel. The latter alone is always more than the sum of its parts, and Spider-Man having the 'lite' version means he also always has to make very good use of it rather than being able to use his powers as a blunt instrument. He can just get more use out of his abilities than most supercharged heroes, and unlike Hawkeye or similar 'no powers, all skill', he DOES have powers.

Spiderman often has plans but improvises then on the spot because he has good battle intuition. Makes him look like a lucky unprepared mess that brings down the team. His plans don't work when working with a team cuz others don't improvise as fast. And he makes rookie mistakes even after years of experience just because he can afford to be a little lax. That's the opposite of what an organisation works like so he didn't fit in with others. That's why Deadpool and him go so hand in hand

Hawkeye is called the Living Weapon for a reason. he somewhat does have a super power, his brain works differently to normal people, he can instantly calculate not only distance, trajectory, resistance etc. and so much more. the three in the video are actually honestly my top 3 favorite heroes and id confidently say Hawkeye could take down both even when it isnt his own story. the only reason he became an Avenger in the first place is because he embarrassed Tony so badly with a basic ass bow and arrow he had no choice but to let him join.

Hawkeye does that all the time. That's his biggest advantage. He knows he can't outclass most of the people he's fighting. Most of them can just tank his arrows or dodge them completely. But they almost always think the arrow and his lethal and uncanny aim is the threat. It's not. It's the plan behind the arrow, whatever it is. Sometimes the arrow is just a distraction meant to draw their attention just long enough for him to get away with his real plan. Sometimes the arrow has a delayed effect like an explosion or a net that shoots out a few seconds after landing. Hawkeye plans his arrows and their effects so carefully, it basically allows him to stall beings far above his weight class just long enough for the real plan to take effect.

It's literally too much of a hax in a 1v1, especially if Spiderman is focusing on it. But if the only reason you can't best someone is because they can literally predict the future, you're already pretty damn awesome. Hawkeye is literally one of the best marvel characters.

@@sourasishseth2618 oh I didnt mean together, I meant separately. but together however, I mean it really is down to the writer but he's got plenty of believable ways to take them down. his reaction times are arguably faster than Panthers and on par with Spidey when you look at some of the shots he's taken or things he's done. for this entire time, he's been the only one able to recognize and actually watch the microseconds it takes for Banner to begin his transformation into the Hulk - and he just kept that to himself because that's normal to him - but taking it further, he could find the perfect moment to hit Banner with a fatal arrow. if he wanted, that arrow he fired could have been laced with any sorts of chemicals or poisons or whatnot and it was over before they even realised.

I like the idea someone had where batman and spider man trade villains, so you just have a scene where spiderman is fighting joker and is being a lot more funny then joker is and it's just pissing him off.

A combination of omnidirectional attack angles and impossible agility makes him well nigh untouchable in enclosed spaces. Combine that with super strength, superspeed, and enough stamina to make Captain America sweat and you have one of the most powerful individuals of all time. Experience is simply the cherry on top the whoopass pie.

Mostly because of how young he is, I would guess. I think the oldest Peter has ever been depicted is his early 20's, and most of the Avengers are at least 30 and have been dealing with major threats every month, for their entire career. But they forget that Spidey handles street level threats at least weekly, and every now and then a real Supervillain pops up on his turf. It's kind of like a bunch of Engineers who graduated from Cal Tech or Utah coming across a younger guy who finished school at Kansas State. Same level of education and experience, but there's an issue with "social class."

Alot of reasons first off he jokes mid battle and keeps an happy go lucky attitude even when the situation doesn't call for it. Second most people know (in most comics atleast and this is with civ war 2 so ye) that he is underaged and therefore think of as inexperienced unlike most adult super heros who have done this for years and even wars. Third he does hold back all the time since he doesn't want to hurt the villian he is fighting to much and not give them to much data on him (remember most of his villian are super smart like he is with his 250 iq so he can't have them know the full power spidey) that and his spider sense is invisible and warns him of danger he himself isn't aware of and things outside of his detection and cannot be blocked by normal means so he got a leg up against ambushes and stealth which most heros sometimes rely on to take another super powered individual down. So most people either A: don't know how powerful he really is or B: saw glimpses of it while working together but forget it because of what he normally does and how he acts.

Spidey actually learnt the 'Way of the Spider' martial arts' style to compensate his temporary loss of the spider-sense. He stopped using it after regaining his spider-sense, so he's pretty rusted in that technique.

Back in the 80s, when everyone was riding high on the X-Men, Secret Wars actually goes out of its way to include a sequence where Spidey fights *the entire team* all by himself--given that they are given dialouge pointing out how badly he made them look like amateurs, I think the writer kinda had a grudge against Marvel's best-selling book at that time!

Read up the old Firestar stuff. Before the reboots and changes, they had her as Spider-Man fangirl who idolized him completely. She was brought up by those who had worked alongside Spidey before and was impressed by the fact every single person that has ever worked with him says the same thing; he has an iron will and will never bend his morals. She tried to live up to it and it was pretty nice reading in X-Men comics a character think to herself "What would Spider-Man do?"

Yeah Bruce Banner was no longer able to turn into the hulk and the avengers showed up to send him to jail, he was working on a project and got upset and Hawkeye put an arrow in his head

When those stories are written properly, I find them most interesting, since they show what it would be like if Spidey wasn't a friendly, happy-all-the-time joker. Suddenly, everyone learns quickly that a guy with superhuman strength, speed, agility, intelligence of a genius, ability to predict attacks and improvise on the spot isn't something to take lightly lmao (and I didn't even mention his spider webs, which he can find thousands of uses for thanks to his smart brain)

BP is more or less an armoured super soldier, Spidey could comfortably play with him, he plays with Wolverine who would give any super soldier a bad day at the office. As you say, he's too fast and too strong and with his reaction times effectively being ahead of real time due to his precognitive ability. I know MCU doesn't count but there are a couple of references in there, like the ease in which he deals with Bucky and catches what Cap drops on his head. Even the first shot as Stark says "3000lbs travelling at 30MPH, that's not easy" with the vid of him catching a car in flight is a direct reference to the 70s comics, he's always having cars lobbed at him and catching them in those, even when the Hulk lobbed them at him from time to time.

I recall in the earlier comics Spidey actually had quite an authority problem with the Avengers. He's like family with the FF and is close with the X-Men, but Spidey looking up to the Avengers is actually rather new. At least compared to how long the character has been around.

I remember a storyline where Spidey helped the Avengers, but the battle was being taken to space, and Cap told him he didn't have to go, but he could if he wanted to, and Spidey jumped at it. Cap noticed that he brought a levity to the team with even Thor trying to crack a joke.

I mean, after the last few years we've had of blatant Black Panther dickriding from the writers, seeing BP humbled a bit is refreshing.

Comic book nerds do it all the time, consider the Ultimate Continuity vs mainstream. The different cartoon continuities. Etc. Being unable to discuss those things via comparison and contrast isn't a badge of honor, it's just the same ignorance flowing the other direction.
