And if you back to the middle ages Mercenaries could make up majority of a country's army but one of the most famous Mercenary groups back then was the varangian guard. Todays PMC groups are more money driven like it was before. The golden age of mercenary work was the 50-70s when Africa decolonised for example Congo, Rhodesia and Sierra Leone where alot of fighting against rebels was done by soldiers for hire. Those who worked on ships that ported in thse places like Congo or South Africa said that almost all bars and docks were filled with Mercenaries waiting for the next battle or to be hired. So saying that Blackwater was the best company is just dumb. They hire anyone that have military training and war experience and during the war on terror that wasn't really any special requirements, it just means they want US, British or AUS basically.

@@chudtroonslayer While they're both PMC companies, they work very differently. Blackwater was just a training center before the GWOT. I talked to a guy who worked for a company named Oilserv. He told me that western PMCs primary job was protecting friendly nations diplomats/embassy members, or important personnel, and training local Iraqi forces. Whereas with Wagner, they'll take on any job for money. Ambushes, executions, hunting for valuable personnel, almost anything. The Russians have deep pockets, and since Wagner is registered in Argentina, it gives them all sorts of deniability. Both companies are guns for hire. The US goverment has their own "goons" for dirty jobs. They don't need PMCs for that.

But what i mean is that Blackwater is older than Wagner and probably inspired it as Russia needed their own notorious PMC. Even the Black white red color scheme on both groups is similar even if the symbology is different.

Field teams that hunt and capture high value targets. And many other tasks that go well beyond VIP protection.
