@marcosramos3829 it's true. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years primarily as a training instructor and made it all the way upto the rank of Master Sargeant. At Air Froce BMT (basic military training) they show you a video of him it's very inspiring

Man I almoat wanted him to leave it at that, like a little shadow of s barn that used to be there, maybe form a perspective of an old man who used to work there many years ago. Came back from the big wide world to where he belongs and sees the place where he used to earn his 1st pocket money. Although the finished painting does look really good.

When I see this I miss my wife more. Her and I would watch this on Tuesday afternoons before I would leave for my job. It was peaceful and tranquil, especially on a cold fall day or a snowy winter day. I lost her three years ago to a horrible disease, now I only exist, but these shows give me comfort.

I have severe anxiety and Bob Ross just makes me feel so calm. I've had 3 panic attacks in the past week and watching him usually helps me to calm down a bit :) I have discovered a love for art and how to express my creativity with him. Thank you, Bob, wherever you may be

When I was a child I tried once to paint like him. I didn´t have a canvas, so I just painted on some piece of poster board. Of course I didn't manage a masterpiece like him, but listening to all his tips, his beautiful instructions was really helpful. I got two boring mountains under the moonlight, but the light and shadow effect was very clear. Some months ago I found really surprising that my mom still keeps that old painting after more than 20 years. Maybe I should try again.

Many who are unfamiliar may not know this, but before gaining fame as an artist, Bob Ross served in the U.S. Air Force. I don't recall the source, but I read sometime back that upon retiring he stated that he wished to never again have to raise his voice in anger or to get his point across as he often had to do in the military. As a veteran myself, I can say that it's sometime hard to get away from habits such as that after being accustomed to it for so long. Thankfully Mr. Ross was successful in doing so and his calm, friendly demeanor has, and continues to be, therapeutic to countless people. He is truly a legend.

In the 80s I used to watch his shows on the weekends. Our PBS channel would run his shows twice a day on the weekends so it was nice to catch at least one of them. Also taped a lot of them (vhs, lol). Really miss him. We all talk about how great his paintings were, but we skip over the fact that he was a good human being. Very positive and reassuring. Just makes you want more of that in your life.

Just listening to how positive he is, he makes me believe I could actually paint something as incredible as this, yet I've never even held a paint brush before. Thank you Bob Ross for brightening my days, even now, in 2017. Hope you're resting in peace. You'll never be forgotten! #happylittleclouds

Amber Turner well, it'll take you longer, and cost a bit more than you expected...and not come out 100% like his from inexperience... But it IS possible. With about 200.00 worth of supplies, and 2.5 hours for each canvas. He's NOT kidding about odorless paint thinner, btw. I assure you. You don't want the scented old stuff from.the garage. But don't breathe it. It's still real toxic. You can let it sit in the can or jar and sediment will go to the bottom. Leave lid on tight. Fumes are flammable AF. But, yeah, I made a few nice paintings not knowing what i.was doing at all.

never fails, my painting is going along wonderful and then we come to something i royally screw up, usually cabins get me or its the foreground trees. Someday i will get one worthy of hanging on the wall

Bob painted over 30,00 pictures, he stated this himself several times in conversation during his painting episodes. He began the 32nd series but could not finish it, those pics have not been seen by th public. One of his episodes was done in "grays", was done for a man who said he was color blind & could not paint, Bob wanted to show that he too could paint, as was his life's goal, to prove ANYONE can indeed paint..

Bob Ross is seriously one of those rare people who really makes you feel like you can do anything and that mistakes can be blessings in disguise! I always feel so inspired to create every time I watch one of his tutorials and it just brings me such joy, even if I’m not painting, haha.

What a positive, loving heart. He knew already he had to stop, and he knew he had a battle ahead of him. But what he cared about most of all was making sure that he taught the world as much of the joy of painting he could. He never complained once.

People like Bob Ross go to heaven because they already believe they are in heaven. They are always happy with what they have and are never selfish, and the truth is, those people are more happy. If not for someone else, be good person for yourself, it's easier, you're not jealous, angry. Those feelings make your life harder. We will never be perfect, but the will and trying counts. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could see how tree is happy to have a friend.

whenever I watch Bob as a kid, I was literally silent for half an hour as a sponge that soaks up water. He brought an element of peace when he taught. Truly a living legend. Thanks Bob!

Bob taught my generation to keep hopes alive at all times. The moment we fell in despair (OMG, he has ruined the painting!) he came up with a great retouch and finish and rejoiced us all! RIP.
