Bob Stoops: "Lincoln Riley didn't invent OU Football"

Former Oklahoma Sooners coach Bob Stoops, during a visit to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in Oklahoma City, reminds everyone that Lincoln Riley took over a successful football program and OU will have more success under Brent Venables.

I can think, as an OU rabid fan since I was 13 in 1971, of several keystone moments in OU football. But none, absolutely none, were as positively impactful as hiring Bob Stoops. Look at Nebraska and know that Bob saved Sooner football and I will always consider him, Bud and Barry the best OU coaches in history, with Bob being the most important cog….period.

Bob Stoops you do deserve this recognition on your own, you leadership effected those around you and that's what made them great as well. You did it the right way and still do. Hope you and your family remain in Oklahoma and as a part of OU forever. Thank you Coach Bobby Stoops!

SOONER!!! What a class act and just a wonderful human being. I said years ago that I didn't care if he remained head coach forever. I'd take never getting a championship to keep him around after seeing him at OU Children's visiting all the little cancer patients and hurt kids there. He's as solid of a good human being as they come.

For Bob to say that about Riley, he must be really upset with how everything went down. Stoops always thinks before he speaks, very gracious and humble in all his success. I can only imagine what his real opinion on Riley must be now

As a Texas fan... I miss this guy, he whipped our ass but it was a honorable win for him. Lincoln Reilly on the other hand is a snake and I hope he plays OU in a Bowl game so they can whip their ass.
