I think "fake it till you make it" is really important when it comes to confidence. You need to practice it in order for it to start coming naturally. Appearing confident, even when you don't feel confident, I believe, can prevent confrontation or becoming a victim (in some circumstances).

He's right. I've always loved studying the gestures and language of appealing characters and I come across as confident most of the times, to the point where people are surprised when I tell them I have anxieties and various inner struggles like we all do. It's not about feeling perfect, it's about knowing you deserve to be where you're at and accepting that you might feel uncomfortable at times.

I became more confident when I accepted the idea that I have no control over other peoples thinking and realizing that it is not worth my time and energy to worry about. The things that people say, whether it is about you or anything else, says more about themselves. When someone speaks they showcase and represent themselves for everyone to hear and see. How you respond or choose to say will also say a lot about you, more than the person you are saying it to or about.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. People are comfortable around confident people but they inwardly despise arrogance. Be confident!

Thank you for this great video. My key takeaways are: 1. Show that you are in command and in control. For example, make eye contacts with others. Talk to convey your message instead of convincing others by saying the same thing in different ways or over-explaining yourself. Take your time to say it and answer the questions. Do not show any quick motion like you are in a hurry. Sit comfortably and own the space 2. Ask yourself how you want to be perceived and what should you do to make it happen. Imitate someone who you think is confident 2. You can build and nurture your confidence. Practice. Practice. Practice

Public speaking technique: _shrink_ your audience scale. Pick 3 people in different parts of the audience. Talk just towards them. Not necessarily directly at them, but look in their general area, gliding back and forth between them. It's much easier to talk to 3 people than, 10, 100, 1000 or greater. It will bring down your anxiety and raise your confidence.

Confidence comes when you have a deep knowing that you are of value and worthy to be on this earth and worthy of respect and being listened to.

my mother thought me a lot about body language, she just figured it out being a Volleyball Trainer. about public speaking, she said: stand there a sec, then start with a quiet tone, people instinctively try to hear and will pay more attention, then a joke. i used to be confident, then had panic attacks and anxiety attacks.. while my job was to meet new people and be confident, funny and all. i would go to the toilet before, and stand in a cubicle with legs apart, hands of hips, chest up, slow stomach breathing. so confident body language practice to get your body to feel powerful. it helped soooo much!

Anyone who has seen an infant stare at someone unselfconsciously, or do almost anything that infants and pre-toddlers do, will understand that we are indeed born confident. I think fear and inhibition are learned, and later have to be un-learned if we are to regain our initial confidence now that we have an intellectual understanding of it.

Working as a teacher, having good body language and tone to project confidence is super important. It can be the difference between a class that mocks you and one that respects you.

I had an epiphany after having to do some presentations and being very nervous about it. When I mentioned it to my supervisor afterwards, she was surprised, she and others told me they couldn't tell that I was nervous. Body language is everything. Learn to move in a confident manner and you will come across as confident. Then others will respond positively to you and it will make you actually more confident. There's a positive feedback loop here.

Im extremely shy and not self confident at all, but when i walk i do it like i own the world, dress neatly and appropriately, force myself to talk and look people in the eye. I always get mistaken for the supervisor or owners. In otherwords how you present yourselves is how you're treated.

One key to developing confidence, is getting to a point in your life that you don’t care what others think of you. Not in arrogance, but you realize that no man is to be the judge and jury of how you feel about yourself.

When I started acting confident in class, changing my posture, tone, and look, my classrooms became disciplined. My students literally started respecting me more and respecting the rules. My supervisor told me that your problem with classroom management was because of how low self-confident you would be in class.

I was born confident and as a little girl I was constantly scolded for being too bold or outspoken. Now I own it again and found joy in life like when I was true to myself.

I think it starts with .. being comfortable in your own skin with yourself. I try to treat everyone like they are a family member. Being honest to the point first .. eye contact with a smile. Speaking clearly and with the right tone for the right situations. It's so many things it would take all day explaining it. Everyone recognizes who is and who isn't. Try mirror the ones you have came across. Like he has said video yourself and try it in the mirror. He is right..

my notes: 1. use cadence 2. confidence is about being comfortable but controlled 3. broad graceful smooth movements (less abrupt reactive movements) 4. convey NOT convince (say it once) 5. spaces force people to anticipate what you’re saying next 6. typical “soldier posture” doesn’t equal confidence (comfort) 7. decisiveness is imperative 8. “the person in charge controls time” no need to speed up for anyone or anything 9. self grooming (self soothing) behaviors look less confident (bc why are you soothing urself rn if you’re confident) 10. if you’re scared, own it (say it) instead of trying to not be “found out” (literally worsens social anxiety) 11. rehearse performance so it’s not sudden/new/scary when you first do it (more control) 12. gain full confidence (breathe, etc) before facing the crowd 13. PEOPLE ARENT BORN CONFIDENT 14. KNOW your info/skills have something to be proud of and have the info to anchor and ground yourself in (so you won’t be unsure or face imposter syndrome) 15. look around and make eye contact (keep eyes at about eye level)

Confidence in the way one walks is actually very admirable and attractive. One of my classmates always carries herself with certainty and elegance, so natural and smooth, no awkwardness or hesitation in her gestures. I think that it all boils down to this one thing he said at the end: Know your material. REALLY know it. When you're very good at something-anything- and you know it, you're confident in showing someone, talking about it or presenting it to a room of people. Know your stuff.

I always look into the eyes of the person I’m talking to and smile. It’s so interesting to see how people react. Alternatively, when people do the same thing to me it’s a little uncomfortable. We’re all susceptible to manipulation whichever form it takes.

To me confidence means being happy with who you are. Having that inner peace with the person you are.

I remember my communications class back when I was in college, and I was horrible at public speaking. It wasn't until I learned the art of the pause and mastering my cadence that I truly began to gain the confidence to speak with a purpose and it changed my life.

Knowing your topic is the best advice

Confidence is not a show, because it does not depend on other people’s opinions. So many people fake confidence, but it’s soon exposed as a flimsy facade. True confidence is earned in battles of discomfort, which results in the ability to deal with any situation that’s within your capabilities.

Honestly I feel like confidence comes naturally when you care about something so much that you are no longer sensitive to how people see you and how you appear in front of others. Like Jane Goodall or Colin Powell - I'm a person that has a mission that's important to me, plus huge experience and knowledge that built me, and I'm proud, and what the world thinks is not my concern.

I totally agree it is also important to know who you are and why you are here speaking in public or making a presentation or video, or whatever. Thanks for sharing information 👏💚

Confidence is really relaxation, and being relaxed in a given situation. Keep in mind how some people who appear confident, can be hucksters and liars and also think they're better than everyone else. Don't automatically believe, confident people always tell the truth. For someone usually timid, anxious and can’t keep eye contact when speaking to someone, this video has taught me that confidence is more about knowledge with whatever you speak about, that it is not so much about forced external confidence (posture, facial expression, tone). You don’t even have to try too hard. I truly wish this video was created and came across it during my formative years. I lacked confidence when I was in elementary and high school, and unfortunately, in college too. I would have been a confident student then and would have performed better.

I feel most confident In public when I feel I look my best. Sometimes we cannot control the way we look so do YOUR best and feel comfortable in YOUR skin. Also when you have a good team of people around you (i.e friends) it’s a lot easier to feel mor comfortable, more CONFIDENT.

The presenter here delivers his knowledge succinctly. He IS the example of what he is teaching. Thank you for a concise, no extraneous lesson. It is has been immensely helpful.

There are 2 things , one being genuinely confident inside , and second how one shows to outside world their confidence thru body language . Personal opinion fake confidence or presenting to show something you are not will eventually reveal itself . Try first be confident on the inside then show it off . TIP - improve your knowledge or skill needed to show the confidence .

A good way to be confident is to simply know wth you are talking about. If you are insecure in the subject matter, then it will convey to your speech and demeanour.

The thing is.. why it's hard for some people is because you are telling them how to copy people who are confident. Whereas, ask the confident people, they aren't copying nobody. Being confident is not about doing this or that. It's about the process a person has to go through in order to become totally comfortable with himself and the surroundings.

I think the best place to start is the posture, it’s simple and you don’t even have to speak if talking is hard. I had been thinking about my posture more over the last 2-3 months and it’s really started to show. I went to a wedding and a friend I had known over half my life but hadn’t seen in maybe 4 months asked if I got taller or if I changed something about my appearance (other than the suit of course). I’ve always walked with a quick pace, but I’ve noticed more eyes have been following me as I walk around the office too since I straightened up. I don’t puff out my chest, roll my shoulders back, etc., I just stand upright and it feels better on my back
