I had a puppy with swimmers syndrome. I noticed that the baby was laying way too flat on her belly. What I did was roll her back and forth with my hands on her ribcage. It worked really well. It took a few weeks, but it was worth it.

I had a kitten growing up that had the same issue. I worked with him by messaging his chest and correcting his walking. By a year old Gizmo was a thriving kitty along side his littermates

The 2nd story with Little Boy reminds me of my little boy, Pogo. He, too, had a rough start in life and we were told to "put him to sleep because he is going to die anyway". The vet was so rude, he walked in, looked at my kitten, said that exactly as quoted, and left. I knew he would make it, and I knew he'd be staying with me. Here it is, a year and a half later and my Little Boy is thriving. 💗 So happy there wasn't another surgery needed for Little Boy in the story! (Oh, we have a new vet, and they love Pogo. Even when we just pop in to get flea meds, he gets paraded around the office to see everyone, and he loves every second of the attention lol. 💖)

I'd love to get an update on Stubby since that video was first recorded, even if it's a sad update. It'd be interesting to know how she did after that first set of prosthetic trotters were put on.

Yes; it wouldn't seem like there's any reason why any update would be sad, does it - but these programmes aren't kind of made that way. I would like to think as I know you would that she's happier than ever, pain-free and galloping around (well piggy-equivalent).

There was a sheep with the same condition, he was able to get her prosthetic hooves. I couldn't see why that wouldn't be an option once stubby gets fully grown

I'd love an update too, considering Stubby might be cute in the date of the show, but that pig is going to grow into a HUGE adult. Pigs are no small animals, and no lightweights.

It's genius what Dr. Chris set up on the baby pigs feet so it could walk: wrapping them in certain materials, then putting rubber stoppers on its feet. That was so endearing and adorable with rubber stoppers on its feet. I couldn't believe it!

For the pig, they should try possibly, 3 d printed prosthetics. Or, a wheelchair as she gets old and heavier.

Something i find absolutely adorable is that after the surgery whem jake is walking with beth, he stops to make sure shes keeping up with him and only returns to walking when shes beside him which is very cute

Dr. Chris, First, I have never seen a piglet picked up or held without it screaming like a siren. What a sweet little guy. Second, is that a hernia I see on the belly? Poor little one, well that's not the #1 issue. Good innovative start

This gorgeous Akita has done w/out the leg from her beginning. No, it's not a fun outcome but she will not miss the leg. It's never been used and she knows no different. I believe it was the right call for removal. She'll be fine. She's got a great life & a lot of love ahead. Akitas are so good natured and she will be just fine. She's a love!

I've had two dogs with amputated legs, one from cancer and another from an unknown cause [We think she was born with her nubbin] and they were both the sweetest babies in the world. Denver, our most recent, LOVES swimming and she's VERY energetic.

If that sheep survived with only 1 leg and 3 prosthetics than stubby can thrive . We all know sheep will just give up at any sign of trouble so stubby gonna be alright !

Number 2 was special for me as I was so angry to see people's ignorance or greed affect a beautiful puppy like that in such a horrific way before. Thank heavens for the kindness of the pups adopted mum writing to Scott & he responding in kindness. Gosh Michael Hamilton is amazing. In this particular episode I was in awe as to the skill of the man but I think moreso, it was seeing how special his art actually is & in all honesty, I was absolutely in awe. He also impressed me with how humble he was because he knew he had done an amazing job & he was pleased with the result but he seemed to be more chuffed that he had helped both the pup & the owner out & I respect him for that.Thanks Scott & thank goodness you have beautiful friends too like Michael.

At 24:00 it's kind of a mix of 2 conditions. She has swimmers syndrome and a secondary condition called flat chested puppy syndrome. I have treated these conditions in cats but not puppies. I had to make custom kitten corsets to help the kittens I rescued and make hobbles for their legs. I had to remake them every so many days. In some cases the animal may have other health conditions depending on what caused the issues. I have had to help teach other rescuers how to help kittens they came across that had these issues too. As long as these conditions develop 3 to 5 days after they are born vs being born with the conditions they have a pretty good chance of recovering and leading a fairly normal life. If they were born with fcks/fcps then that can be a sign of far more serious problems.

If you look up via lobos pit bulls and parolees they had an episode where either 1 or 2 puppies had swimmer syndrome. They built out of a planks wood like a little raceway. It was 'U' shaped and 4m long, that would teach the puppies to keep their legs in position and would also support their legs in that position as they practiced walking. I really hope you get this message.

The dog has no feeling in that leg, meaning if it got hurt or an infection they might not know till to late. Amputation was the only answer in that case. Without the leg she is young enough to learn how to walk without it and build up extra muscle on the other legs. She will have a great close to normal life, pain free 💗

My rescue cat around 2-3 years old was the sweetest boy l ever knew. He tested positive for FIV and the clinic recommended euthanasia. They said he would never live past ten years. I just couldn't do that with a loving boy who had never had a happy safe life before. He lived to 14-15, had two best friends and multiple friends in the neighborhood who sent cards when he died.

Well done you. I took in a cat that had the same thing he lived a long happy healthy life with me. Passed away peacefully of old age. I just had to keep him separated from my other cats.

I love all animals. I am a nature lover. I don't care if they have flaws, everything has flaws. We need flaws to adapt and be strong and brave. Building a bond with the animals helps us and wildlife to survive. We need rescuers to help keep a balance with the ecosystem.

Even if it's not possible to save them you still try everything to fight for their lives. You are truly amazing people in this vet business! If it weren't for you those animals would be still in pain! But you are there to help them. I appreciate your work and time you put in the help for these poor souls! Keep up the amazing work! I love Stubby's boots! Creativity is part of problem solving. I'd love to see how it comes out for Stubby, either way. Iknow they do 3D printed prosthesis parts, but I don't know how prohibitively expensive it is.

I’ve been & still am a VERY VERY PROUD K9 volunteer rescuer for (20+) years & MOST of the public doesn’t see the back side of so many many animals in HORRIFIC NASTY DISGUSTING DEPLORABLE & HEARTBREAKING 💔 conditions👀🥺😳🫣😥‼️I learned very early on with my volunteering efforts, you NEVER EVER say NOR think “you’ve seen it all” because unfortunately, that’s NEVER the case💔😥🐾I WISH people would LISTEN & get their animals spayed/neutered as soon as they’re old enough & that would HONESTLY SAVE so many many animals being “MURDERED” as I say & believe it is with euthanasia!!!! And until I take my last breath; I will continue too my part, however, small it may be, to HELP RESCUE & SAVE their PRECIOUS LIVES🙏🏻💞🌟💜🐾‼️THANK YOU ALL from where I live in HOPEWELL, VA (USA) for EVERYTHING you all do to HELP SAVE so many many animals💞🌟🥰💜🐾

This program was especially sweet. I got 2 rescues and I found out both were related, father and daughter. Well, Thanksgiving, I woke up to 2 extra puppies. One of the pups died this morning. I was so upset. But learning about the inbreeding made more sense. There may have been something wrong with it. This was upsetting to me that there are so many lonely pups and other domestic animals out there. And there is way too much breeding going on. And then they are abandoned when they're not well or normal. Great show today, guys. I love the education of this program.

Jake reminds me of my boy. We got hin from the shelter as a puppy so we never knew anything about his parents. He passed in his sleep, but he also had extreme bowed legs aswell. He was a mix (corgi dachshund) and just completely 25ish lb solid so his poor little legs couldnt keep up after he was fully grown. (Like Beth mentioned, my boy aswell his got worse over time though a much slower progression, but he showed no pain or slowing in movement or energy)

13:22 I have a cat called Little One, one called Baby Boy and a rescued snake named Lil’ Dude all because I didn’t want to give them a name because they were really sick but then those names stuck and are now their official names
