Long Term Playtest Review - adidas X Ghosted + and .1 - Are They Still Good 6 Months Later?

День томуWelcome to the very first Boot Wizard Extra Time Review. Where I take a look at a boot about 6 months on from release and see if it is something that I still like, have my opinions changed at all after a long term wear test.
Today the X Ghosted + and X Ghosted .1 are under the microscope. 2 boots that I still like, that still have fantastic elements, but boots that I have possibly soured on just a little bit over the first 6 months. I will break it all down and answer the question, are they still good 6 months later.

This is a really cool concept . I normally see basketball shoes UKpostsrs, like , sole brothers. They call these ones, performance review, but the first ones first impressions.

I've got the X Ghosted .1 in TF (2 months in), AG (1 week in), FG (1 week in), and I'm watching the sales for an SG pair next. Comfort so far has followed from best to worst TF, AG, FG with issues in the heel as you've described. For me, it's as simple as adding a bit of KT-style tape to my heel and I'm good to go, but the TF model has a different heel construction that is more padded and comfortable so I don't have to use the tape with those. The AG model uses a different soleplate, sans-carbitex, and I wonder if that is part of why those may feel noticeably different in the heel than the FG, but that's just me speculating. Love the pingy sensation on the upper and it's about as close a feel as I've been able to find to my age and falling apart Vapor X's. Overall I really enjoy them, I just have to have a roll of tape in my bag for my heel, but that may or may not change once I've worn them in some more. Thanks for doing a follow-up review! Really excited to see the central laced and hopefully thicker upper from the Speedflow. As nice as the Carbitex outsole looks I really hope they start making the AG outsoles more available.

Central laced will be nice. I don't really need it to be thicker, just more flexible. The AG I have found easy to get but I know a lot of people struggled.

@@BootWizard Yea I personally like a little thicker of an upper for a more padded sensation. If Adidas can make an upper similar to the F50 Adizeros from 2014 or 2015 that would be perfect!

I have a pair of .1 tf and love them. To me, the feel on the ball is great but I just cannot stand the reinforcement around the ankle. That thing never soften enough. I agree with you, you can solve it by going up half a size, but you lose on the feeling which is the appeal of the boot. Al though I really enjoy hitting the ball on these, I constantly rather bring the Mundial Teams just out of comfort. Really enjoyed the video, James.

I feel your review is very fair, it is a no compromise speedboot with a revolutionary soleplate and upper! The solepate is incredible buuuuut the upper, for as amazing that it holds its shape well and provides structure despite no lining or anything besides the upper, is just not comfortable. However, and it is just because i have a funny heel (almost like Coutinho), the heel is the most comfortable part of the boot to me

Love the idea of follow-up videos. Really good stuff. I thought the X Ghosted was good, I hope the next one has a softer upper! A mix of both the X19.1 and the Ghosted would be excellent. I still think your review on these both was fair!

I do think they're good boots and I do think that the tooling is pretty special. I just think that the upper could certainly be improved and so could the heel comfort. I agree an x19.1 and ghosted style mix could be absolutely fantastic

Hi mate commented before about the comfort of these in particular the heel pillows. Because i love the outsole so much ive experimented (maybe more than i should for a boot that cost so much) on how to make them comfier. I actually bought some suede heel grip pads from Schol (only £2) and cut them to shape so they fit under the heel pillows, and this so far has took alot of heel pressue off them pillows. Just a tip for anyone else suffering

Fantatsic tip mate and something similar to what I've seen Adidas do to some pro custom versions of the X ghosted. So you're certainly thinking like a pro with that tip. Might even try it myself.

Hii James, this a good video. Definitely would like to see something similar for the predators as well, if you could. I have yet to get my ghosted.1's on-pitch yet. I am currently on my future 2.1's. Also, will you be doing your take on the marvel boots, I would be interested in your opinion for the x cyclops boot in particular and also on the recent announcement of the European super league.

I have the Cyclops .1 coming into the channel so hopefully review this week. Preds I just don't use enough to do an extra time review. I might force myself to use them so that I can do a second review 😂. And I'll be trying to drop a super league video asap.

I've worn X Ghosted.1's for about 5 months now and I have to agree that the upper was a lot better on X 19s and X 18s.. I'll go back to the older generation when I order new pair of boots

@@BootWizard X19 is the best boot I’ve ever had. I like the old F50 Adizero vibes they tried to bring back with the X Ghosted lineup but I feel that they didn’t quite accomplish that

The X ghosted + and .1 both cut my ankle for some reason(The side where the adidas stripes are). It only cut my ankle on the right side of the boot maybe because my right foot is bigger than my left? I am thinking it was because of the heel or because there is plastic right below my ankle. Im thinking instead of true to size i go 1/2 a size up? Let me know ur opinion and can u try to explain why if you know the reason?

Did you played on AG surface as well (with the FG studs)? I want to know how the durability of them, because although they have an AG studs, adidas consider their FG stud pattern as FG/MG.

This particular stud pattern isn't an FG/AG or an MG pattern it's a pure FG football boot and even though the durability is fine I would say any boot with an agreessive soleplate like this is likely to be reasonably dangerous to use for extended periods on AG. I have used them on AG but it's not something I would highly recommend to anyone for safety reasons.

the comfort issue is likely why so many pros are moving away from Ghosted to the Nemeziz.1. There are plenty of boots that has excellent sole plate so why suffer and put your feet through hell. I sold mine.

It's probably one of the reasons for sure. The advantage of this for me is that the soleplate is on another level!

What is the X 19.1 like compared to them I bought the xghosted in 8uk and was too tight would the 8uk in the X 19.1 be ok or would u go half a size up???

My opinion on these is that the plastic on top of the mesh makes it hard for me to put my foot inside them as I guess my arch is a bit tall. It’s not very stretchy on top and I’m scared of pulling on it too hard

I’ve had my x ghosted.1s for around 3-4 weeks now and I’m starting to see sole separation around the inner sole heel area. Really disappointed as I loved the boots and the feel of them was just right for my liking. Has anyone got any suggestions? I only notice it when playing in wet weather because it goes through the sole separation. But it’s still a joke considering I payed 200€+ for them and they’re a month old. I wore them on grass only and washed them properly after every use. Never touched Astro or any other surface.

Honestly if you're getting deterioration that quickly you should take them back to the store or send them back to the manufacturer as it is likely a fault with the boots.

honestly try them on and see how you feel, normally I always say 100 percent get the .1, however the + here is pretty good, I do prefer the .1 but try on the + they might really suit you.
