This is called the kinematic sequence, it can be applied to any sport, and is the way the human body can generate the most amount of speed. It is generally applied to golf, but when you break it down it can be applied to any athletic movement that requires generating as much speed and power as possible. The whip analogy is spot on, essentially turning your body into a whip.

If you want to see the absolute best boxer at taking advantage of the Kinetic Chain in history, nobody, and I mean nobody did it better than Mike Tyson at his prime. Every single bob and weave coiled his whole body to it's maximum, so when he unloaded, every single punch was fast, and a power punch. It's what made him such a dangerous heavyweight. He was one of the smallest, and was impossible to hit. And his coiled punches made him the hardest puncher in the ring with everyone he faced.

@@ttchme9816 usually you wanna catch the opponent off guard, after you dodge his punch or block it, or as you said faint him with a fake jab or kick, and don't pull your arm or body before you punch, our master used to call it "telephoning" because you tell him that you will punch and he can easily dodge ...

The foot you step forward with being straight at the time of punch impact is so important and I’m glad it’s here.
@pimpskywalker3187Рік тому
Why is it important?
@jacquep2363Рік тому
@@pimpskywalker3187 if the knee is bent then you are leaking kinetic energy. Similar to pitching in baseball. T maximize the kinetic energy that legs gotta be straight. I understand, as a kickboxer, that you can’t do that every time but when you want the power. You want to snap that leg back like a catapult and follow through.
@mohaastellaРік тому
Can someone link me more info on this. I thought it was wrong to have it straight like that .
@mohaastellaРік тому
Okay I'm convinced it is bullshit. You can catapult all your weight into a baseball throw like that but it is not how it is in boxing, and even then I'd imagine you will need to throw more of yourself side ways, not remain square with the lead leg in front stopping the momentum like in the video.
@jacquep2363Рік тому
@@mohaastella if you don’t stop the momentum from leaking out of the front leg (knee) you are losing kinetic energy. Locking the front knee forces all of the energy to come out through the arm/hand and doesn’t get wasted. I’m talking how to maximize explosiveness. In an actual fight you wouldn’t punch that way because it leaves you defenseless. But just throwing as hard as possible.. that knee has to catapult.
@nigel82212 роки тому
That's why Manny is so strong despite his height, he has the calves of a titan
@rockywalker34692 роки тому
Its not calves size. 95% of boxers have very small calves some of them the hardest punchers. Pacman has big ones cause of asian genetics.
@ohsyg5312 роки тому
@@rockywalker3469 yes genetic plays a big role for calf growth, but pacman train his calf effectively, do check his calf conditioning routine, pure hell.
@yousnoozeyouloze2 роки тому
Calf muscles have very little to do with it. It's how the energy transfers. Also, there are a lot more important variables than size.
@seandlax92 роки тому
The calves have literally nothing to do with it. Dropping back the foot allows you to open and twist/torque your hips, which in turn engages your back. That's where your power comes from.

Heavy dumbbell rows, standing side twists, dumbell bench and rear delt raises are the best lifts for punching power. @SomethingWithZ2 роки тому
This was a very vague explanation of how to generate power. I don’t know if you know how to properly box, but when you throw a cross, rotate your hip and your foot to generate more power. You can get an idea of what it should look like when you do this by just watching the lower half of the skeleton throwing the cross in this video.
@SomethingWithZ2 роки тому
If you’re not sure about stance, put your elbows near and in front of your ribs. They don’t have to be directly on your chest to my knowledge. Bend your knees slightly. and if you want to be faster, stay on your toes. You can be flat footed if you want, it generates more power but at the cost of speed.
