Why are we embarrassed to talk about menstruation? Should men who are grossed out by menses be cancelled? Should women "free bleed"? Is PMS a made up excuse by women?

Have this story about a guy, I don't know who he is but here's the story There was this guy on the train that noticed that I had my period. I was standing in front of him and he was sitting down. He stood up and handed me his hoodie and whispered that I stained my shorts, and to use the hoodie to cover. He asked me to sit down but i was too ps that i ran out at the next station. I still have the hoodie till this day, washed of course. But man this guy....

As new age men, we ought to understand how menstruation works and how to use panty liner/ sanitary pads. It's no longer just mum's Job to teach the daughter about their body. Dad can do just as fine teaching their daughters. Then, PMS is premenstrual syndrome. And men should stop using PMS so conveniently at school and work to explain ladies' moody period of month. Regarding carrying around sanitary pads, men don't have to do so but they don't have to feel shy going to retail stores to get one.

I'm a guy who spent 4 years in a majority-girls CCA and now carry spare pads in my bag whenever I go out. You never know when you'll need one. And pads can be used to soak up blood not just from menses, but on a deep gash as well.

Ehhh i think you just trying to wait for the perfect moment to "save" a girl who needed it. But seriously, if a guy offer me a pad when Im caught staining, I. Will. Freak. The. F. Out. .. even more than me freaking out tt i stained my pants 😑 As for deep gash or something.. please just carry gauze next time 😑 i want a material to stop my blood, not soak up my blood 🥶

Some girls don't like wings because where it wraps around, the plastic can be irritating/itchy/chaff. I was surprised that some people were taught to flush pads down the toilet. But tampons can be flushed down the toilet, which is great.

Interesting episode! Would be nice if there is a topic about irregularities in period and PCOS/Potential infertility. I am an unfortunate female whom is suffering from PCOS and there is once where I didnt have menses for prolonged period of time. As much as some may find it a blessing in disguise, but it was truly painful as I suffer the multiple side effects from hormonal imbalance which absolutely wrecked my self-esteem (acne, weight, oily hair)

Really nice to see TDK talking and normalizing talking about periods. If you really wanna learn more you can check out Mama Doctor Jones on UKposts. She is a gynaecologist and I swear I learnt more from there then I ever did from any older female or peers. We need more of such education. 🙌

Really enjoyed the discussion! As seen in the video it highlights the fact that there is quite a lot of things ppl are unaware of regarding female health. I was just diagnosed with endometriosis (stage 4) last month and had a laparoscopy done. It hit me out of nowhere as my menses had always been "normal" so I only started reading more into it after my diagnosis (never heard of endo before this). Hope you guys can cover on it so more girls can get themselves checked.

One thing we have to do is regular ultrasound at the very least, it's something you can do for yourself. Every year your body can change alot! I used to not have any pain but now the cramps are really bad. Cyst are very common and can lead to problems. When I was younger the gynecologist always said my period is irregular due to my weight once I had a heavy period that lasted a month and it'll skip for a few months - apparently everything was linked to my weight 88kg/160cm at my heaviest. So far I'm at about 77kg and my cramping is really bad previous blood test was a little low on iron. KK gave me hormones medication that messed me up reaaaaaal bad (mood swing and depressed). Tbh I believe as long as your ultrasound is clear and you're fit, irregular periods isn't a very big issue. So get yourself checked every year!! Go to polyclinic/GP and ask for a referral if you need to, it's cheaper than walking into ultrasound clinic.

I think the main reason in co-Ed schools that there is a secrecy between girls and guys on periods is the way how sex education is taught to children in primary and secondary schools. From what I can recall they separate the guys and girls whenever they go through sex education. So guys like myself never really know 100% how periods work and how we can help and understand the girls better.

The number of guys I know who thought that the wings on the pad stick to the body instead of the underwear is more than you will ever imagine. Also a funny period story, I was shitting once and my cup was kinda loose (this was when I just started using it, never put it in properly). I pushed my shit out a little too hard and my cup popped out of the canal. I now joke that I gave birth to my period cup.

eh? I was also in co-ed school. During Secondary School, only girls were invited to school hall and there would be people talking about menses and showing how to use it. I was even given w brand pad. Also, i dont really think guys need to carry a pad since i think ladies would know usually when their menses will come ? I mean at most always bring one for standby cause you donnoe when you need it or others who also need it right ? Think about it, at the end of the days, if it really leaks to the clothes, we are the ones that ended up being embarrass ☹. Oh, also regards to pills, yes it could prevent menses but... really not healthy. I also heard stories that that after stop taking the pills, your menses cramp for that month was bad. Lastly for guys, if your have gf, I think your gf just want your understanding during menses. Cause I do heard stories of menses cramp that is so bad, they need to go to hospital for painkiller. And symptoms varies for different woman. HAHAHAHA, maybe your can try period pain simulator to see what woman need to go through every month 🤣🤣🤣

the only way to completely not have periods is to get a hysterectomy (removal of uterus). but there are side effects to it like early menopause, dryness down there etc. But it's great if you're not considering kids in your life and if you suffer from other things like anemia from heavy flow periods. Another way is also IUD. Usually first few months really heavy bleeding - but after that barely anything at all, but IUDs can be very uncomfy and achy. Abnormally heavy flows and cramps so painful that you get bedridden are not normal! Try to see a doctor and get an ultrasound scan done or other forms of checkup if you can. If your doctor dismisses your claims as "something normal", change to another doctor. I recommend going to the polyclinic to see a doc first then get a referral from there if you are not keen on spending alot of $$ for private.

After a hysterectomy, a woman can no longer have children and menstruation stops. The ovaries generally continue to produce hormones, although in some cases they may have reduced activity. Some hysterectomies also include removal of the ovaries, so the supply of essential female hormones is greatly reduced.

yay welcome back JP. eh, I think don't be shy about it, but find it quite ridiculous for people to talk about it like its something to be excited to talk about? we naturally find it dirty because we associate discharges from our private parts as dirty/unhygienic - perfectly normal to think so, and we shouldn't gaslight each other/mindfuck ourselves into thinking that it isn't, or that it's something fun to talk about. in short - on one hand, it doesn't need to bring shame or taboo, but on the other, just clean it up and move on lah. like if you have a runny nose, just go blow your nose/clean up and not make a big deal about it. same concept applies.

I love the idea of M cup too! Save a lot of money in long run! But I did gave birth before I started wearing M cup, so not sure if it does help with M cramps. Really like to hear ideas of other girls who had serious crumps before but had none after that. Fun Fact: Women can still have period cramps after birth. Mine did and 1 time so painful that I almost crawling to nearest doctor to get a inject of painkillers. After that I learnt that it was caused by the bacteria in the pad which caused cramps and worn ionised pads. Then when M cup started to get common in US I got 1 to try. Happy Ending for me!

Hi, question from a guy🙋‍♂ here: During your periods, what are some of the common comfort food, drinks or things that we can prep so that it can help tide through the crampy shitty period? I only know of hot chocolate or warm drinks, no cold stuff and something warm and fuzzy to hug. Thanks in advance!

Hot ginger tea with a bit of sugar helps me! Just boil old ginger with water. Filter out the ginger and add half a teaspoon of sugar. I hate ginger tea but I have to drink it. It helps with the cramps. Before period, having proper sleep, eating enough fruits and vegetables, exercise (yoga) also helps reduce cramps to a certain degree! Overall, taking care of our body in every small step is essential

I think buying pads is easier than buying condoms/lubes from the shops haha There'd been many times where my female friends would be embarrassed that they're carrying pads in their bags and I never made a big deal out of it since it can't be helped, it's something natural. I understand how they can be shy about it but I feel like they shouldn't. But then again, as a guy, it's easier to say it la.

Men should not be ashame to help their female partners to buy pads...Period is a natural thing for all women...I helped my gf to carry around when we go shopping and she asked me: am I ok to hold? I was like why not? It's not like I m carrying drugs or something illegal what...I think male should know all these period information to help and ease their female partner's struggle BUT in this case, the girl who bled and causes blood stain here and there is not being respectful to his place...

The UK "tampon tax" was actually caused by EU rules on VAT, all products have to be taxed a minimum of 15%, but a small number of products can have a reduced rate of 5% which was what pads and tampons were taxed. After Brexit the tax was abolished because they no longer had to abide by the EU rule, but plenty of EU countries still charge 5% or even >15% tax on tampons and pads. Nowadays in the UK pads are available for free in all state schools, and I think all government buildings.

i don't agree with the way you guys gaslight others who think menstrual discharge is gross. What's wrong with feeling that it is gross? It is afterall a discharge from the genital, like how urine is gross too. Even more so, this is blood. There are diseases that can be transmitted through blood etc. So i don't see why people cannot feel gross about menstrual discharge.
@thisgrace9834
@thisgrace9834 2 роки тому
“People” meaning just immature men who have no knowledge of what it means to menstruate? also immature men who use “gaslight” without understanding its exact definition. women’s bodies are programmed to hold babies that women are forced to go through this every month if they don’t finally get pregnant. it’s a natural process, not any dirtier than you bleeding from a cut on your arm. period blood isn’t made of toxins or bodily waste, so there’s nothing gross about it.
