A father to those who never had one.

I was tyrannical, nihilistic and self destructive, at the end of my rope, spiritually and mentally, Jordan yelled into the darkness to tell me to turn around. I was on the cliff.

He sounds like he is crying. I do think he is quite passionate in his love of humanity. At times it sounds as if he is begging people to just think, just listen. I hope more and more folks do listen.

I listen to him every morning before I go to work.. He gives me courage like a father.. I don't have anybody so it feels like home somehow when I wake up super early, take my time with breakfast and just sit there listening to him before I go to school working as a teacher myself eventho I have a severe chronic illness.. Jordan Peterson represents one of the most intelligent, compassionate and positive people of our era. I got very tired of recycled "cereal box" motivation quotes, and I can always count on Jordan Peterson to find another way of articulating his message to his viewers in a way that makes you want to make immediate change for the better, with a purpose.

I’m 26 years old and I’ve been depressed and suicidal because of my job for a year now. When I would listen to this at 10:18 min in I would weep. Today I walked out of my job and listened to the same part and I feel confident, happy, and courageous.

For the past two years I've been suffering with severe anxiety. I know I can turn this around. For me, for my family, for my kids.

I wish I could have heard of Jordan Peterson earlier in my life. I'm doing well financially at 34 but I can only imagine what my life could have been personally and mentally. At least now, I can help my 6yr old son go down a better path then the one I felt compelled to fallow.

I'm 26 years old. When I was 14 I was offered an internship with NASA JPL out of high school. My dad declined because "science" not a field that would not provide me with a stable job. So my dad thought... When I turned 17 I decided I wanted to teach English... Come the age of 19, I was offered my first job teaching English in Japan. I declined because I wanted my dad to approve of me. He didn't think it was worth it. Again i set my sights on a new field.. 3 years of hard work led me to a relocation job in Mexico with great pay... again I declined because my dad thought it would be stupid.... I sit here now... lost... I don't know what I want to do... i dropped out of college because I went to for everybody but myself. Though I don't think its too late for me to go back. I can't go back without a clear vision. I've lost any passion towards Science... Cooking... English Teaching... I always felt I needed to prove myself to my dad... I'm constantly stuck thinking about what my life would have been like had I taken the JPL internship. Had I taken that English job... had I gone to Mexico.... Jordan you said nobody knows me better than myself.. and you are right. I should have taken the chance... I tried rationalizing my fear but I sit here now... realizing that my fear wasn't to fail... my fear wasn't to be stranded in a foreign country... my fear wasn't to be making little to no money as an intern... my fear was being rejected by my parents because of my life decisions... I know myself better than my parents ever will. They will learn to respect me though the decisions I make they may not agree with.... How can I influence people around me for the better, when I myself am stuck in inner turmoil... Thanks JP. You've opened my mind...

I stumbled across Jordan Peterson while listening to motivational videos. I know listening to videos who knew. About the same time my marriage ended, had to sale my home, no longer coming home to my kids every night. This had happened before about 2 years prior. I’m a recovering drug addict and alcoholic I relapsed two years ago in part because I couldn’t handle my family falling apart. This time after my second rehab and a desire to stay alive I decided I was going to face this and carry my responsibility as a father. Listening to Jordan has given my some much needed guidance. Just with my co-workers I realize that I can strive for good regardless of my current situation and I can pick up the heaviest thing I can and carry it and try to be a light to the world. I listen to everything I can get my hands on I will just listen over and over. I don’t fully understand how it works but it has helped me so much I have managed to stay sober, get through my divorce, buy a house, I try to view my job as positive and try to have some gratitude for what I do have and in some part Jordan’s lectures have helped me do that

All the best to everyone who watches these videos and is trying to change their lives. It's comforting to know that there are so many of us who are trying to fix our lives. I don't know why I keep on going back to habits that I know are bad for me, habits that bear no fruit. I'm now 34 and kinda freaking out. When will the pain and suffering that I cause to myseld end? When will I learn to live my truth and do what I need to do to live a peaceful life. A life that has meaning. I just can't keep making the same mistakes. It hurts.

This man is the total package. Amazingly passionate, incredibly intelligent, a realist, humble, loving and caring... just perfect in my eyes.

As my fathers heart stopped several times last thursday, the lessons Petersen has taught me made me strong. I kept my head and did whatever I could to help my family and the medical personnel. I was able to comfort my father. I kept my brother who lives a few hours away (which i resent some) up to date. The next day he had a pacemaker installed and is doing well. We've talked a lot in the past few days and I know he's proud the man i am.

This moved me to tears, sometimes we take life for granted. We let the days pass us by without accomplishing what means most to us.

I always come back to this video to reinvigorate my own motivation and refocus on my life goals. It fills me with determination. Edit: Thank you for the likes everyone! My advice is read his book, 12 Rules for Life. I'm halfway through it and it has been nothing but self-reflection, improvement and gaining new ideas and perspectives. Highly recommended. If you find that you don't have the time to sit down and read, download Audible and listen to it. Dr.Peterson himself narrates it which makes it very enjoyable to listen to! I listen to it while I'm driving and it's great. I wish you all the best in your voyage through life.

I called around to the press contact. idk how to get in touch with someone. you and I share so many similar experiences and tragedies. my life has been nothing short of awful w/ my chronic pain and mental issues. I've been under "chronic pain care management" since I was 19. but my physical deterioration over the years has put me on my knees where I have never done and will not start. the healthcare system should not be about holding healthcare over your head in exchange for TONS of money. 10yrs w the same pain clinic and discharged 2 days after a significant surgery. you are a maverick like that in thinking fresh, honesty in discussion and education as a networking tool to bring people together. I'm starting the GREY AGE in the Boise, ID area. I left my pain clinic. I decided to step outside this cycle of sickness. all I see is drs putting pressure on me through $$$. The Twisted Knife is our ground roots we started like yesterday. we are a great network of reasonable sick of this shit millennials like us. no more flex tactics by the medical practices to enslave their books of business. I'm st a 10 in pain and when I told them that. they discharged me. IPMR

I’ve been listening to JP for a while....since the Sam Harris days. I had also read David Goggin’s book “You can’t hurt me” What I didn’t know was that those two were preparing me for what was to come. After 19 years of marriage my wife decided to call it quits....without warning. I was devastated.....absolutely devastated! After 5 months I still am in some sense. 2 1/2 years ago we left everything (jobs, friends and family) and moved to the southwest. We had a beautiful house, 6 figure income, etc. When she left I was 1800 miles away from all friends and family....and alone. It was horrible. I felt like my entire world had crumbled. After a week without sleep and what can only be described as etherial but in a dark, sinister way I remembered what JP said in his book.....”Stand up with your shoulders back”. That’s exactly what I did. I stood up and told my self I was not going to be a victim of someone else’s actions. Because I was exercising as a result of Goggin’s book, after every workout I would stand up with my shoulders back and revel in my accomplishment. I have since moved back to the midwest. I’m not lying.....it sucks (compared to my previous life). But I have everything I need and then some. I have a place to live, a job, my friends and family are nearby and I have a chance to move forward. I am picking up my suffering and carrying it. I am still nice to her because being mean and vindictive doesn’t make anything better. I would really hate to think where I would be if I didn’t hear those words that JP said.

I've been listening to JP on and off since August 2019. I hadn't listened to him for a while. My father died in July. I had to organise to get him home to my sisters house because my Mon is a hoarder. There were a million jobs to do before we even got him home. I tackled those issues, got everything organised, brought him home, nursed him and he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Listening back on this.......it really did help me. To face the the chaos and just do what I had to do to make the situation better.
