But why would Peter be waiting for LJ? If you look at it from his perspective, LJ kept avoiding him and gave no sign that she reciprocated his feelings. On his end, he tried his best to get closer to her but without success. There was no way he could’ve known she was into him. He probably thought he had no chance with LJ and decided to stick to the initial plan, i.e. going after Gen. Neither of them were straightforward with their true feelings but at least Peter tried (buying the yogurt and wanting to sit next to her on the bus). If you rewatch the scene, Peter looks pretty bummed out in the tub right before LJ appears. I’m sure that if it was filmed from his perspective, the scene wouldn’t be ruined because you’d see how the girl he fell for miraculously appears out of nowhere right when he was certain she didn’t like him back. I always found it unrealistic that ppl expected him to be waiting for her when he had no reason to believe she would come.

@@Ambereigh In the book, Lara Jean was driving up to the school for the game and notice Peter wasn't there and Trevor told him that he decided to skip the game and he was at home. When Lara Jean went to his house, she saw him and Genevieve hugging at his house and she was furious so she left and texted him to meet him at her house and they talked and argued and then broke up. There was no public breakup before he left.

She doesn't really bother working on her trust or her insecurities which feeds into her insecurities even more and cause things like this to happen. Trust and communication people!

It's not her being insecure. Again u cant just say she was insecure over something when HE should've communicated the situation properly rather than finding out new things about it from other people or even finding out from him without saying anything.

Finally someone liked John Ambrose over Peter. John had so many talents but Lara Jean was dumb to pick Peter over him, anyone who has read the book will resonate to this. Peter wasn't as perfect as he seems in the movie. In the book he made Lara Jean feel less important many times. He said that gen drives him crazyy and he can't help but do what she wants but with Lara Jean it's easy peasy 😒😒😒

Eh I thought John was kinda weird. He was way too obsessed with middle school. What would they even do if they dated? They would just sit around blazing bingo with old people and reminiscing about middle school. Sounds pretty lame to me. Peter made her more outgoing and go to parties and make new friends and get more enjoyment out of her youth. John would have just made her complacent

Well in the book, Peter proposed her and said that he actually started liking her while the fake dating but Lara Jean didn't want to be with a man who's still not done with his ex. So she rejected him. This happens just before the hot tub scene and this guy called gen to make out just after proposing Lara jean😒😒 I mean if he did have feelings for her then he should have atleast waited instead of calling another girl to make out. Peter is not as perfect as her seems in the movie. You'll surely resonate to this once you read the novel

I disagree. I think he shouldn’t have taken her back. Laura Jean is far from a blameless victim in all this. She created the conditions for Peter waiting for Gen in the hot tub by ignoring him and showing him no signs that she actually liked him. Also she was way too insecure about his past relationship and led John on the whole movie and didn’t tell him about Peter. She is emotionally cheating on Peter and that is not okay

@@pdawg2716 she didn’t feel like she could trust peter, because he kept running back to gen all the time. i’m not putting all the blame on peter, but i have seen other people do that to him. all i did was comment my opinion if i was in this situation where i found i couldn’t feel like i could trust my boyfriend and he was still talking to his ex. it didn’t help that neither of them apologized in the end

Not necessarily. He had been passive about his interactions with Gen for a while now, someone whom he knew brought out LJ's insecurities. It was just mounting until this point, where it was revealed that he had been waiting for Gen, not LJ. Her insecurities become her worst nightmare when he basically admits it to her, a secret or a lie that he had kept from her this entire time. Their relationship started out fake, but when it became real it was based on that lie.
