We all know that one day the Queen in her old age will eventually pass. But she had become a constant for the people of the UK for 70 years and losing her would really be a shock. It's like having known your grandmother all your life and she had always been there until she died and the world suddenly spun off its axis. Things will never be the same, and all we could do is embrace the change. My sincerest condolences to the Royal Family and to the people of the UK.

@@vloplob Close. She is of the house of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha. Queen Victoria was of the house of Hannover but she married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha and thus changed the dynasty to his. His dynasty continue through the paternal side all the way to King Charles. They arbitrarily changed their name to the House of Windsor after King George V’s favorite castle during WWI to not sound so German….but they were almost completely German all the way to Elizabeth herself. King George VI could not have looked more German if he tried….even his mother Queen Mary (Mary of Teck) was of a great German house. But, Elizabeth got an injection of English and Scottish through her mother. But then, Elizabeth herself ALSO married a great German noble house when she married Phillip of the House of Battenberg (Anglicized to Mountbatten due to the whole world war thing, but Phillip himself couldn’t get more German…this makes King Charles 75% German and 25% Scot/English)

As a Canadian I've spent my entire life seeing the Queen's face looking out on everything from stamps to bills. Seeing her portraits change over the years as I'd grown older, and she had grown older too. She faced everything with such grace. Two little girls were near the magazines at the pharmacy yesterday and one pointed at an article cover and said proudly "That's Queen Elizabeth II when she was younger!" And I realized that like me they had also grown up with the Queen. She was truly an iconic figure. I don't know how I'll feel the first time I hold a bill with King Charles on it, but I know it won't be the same. Her Majesty did reign for seventy years! She made that honest and heartfelt message when she was speaking on her twenty- first Birthday when she was in Cape Town, South Africa. I was sad when she died in 2022!😭 I loved what the Lady from Germany said about her! Some of the people just thinking about it were tearing up! It's sad when anyone dies! and The Queen has been around through many things and through peoples lives! I love how the couple who were speaking said, " We knew her from when we were young, in the early nineteen fifties when she was still Princess Elizabeth, We saw her coronation and it is really upsetting. She was a very devoted queen and she'll be very honored!" She was a huge role model figure as a Queen and Monarch and as a person she'll Probably be the most famous British Monarch! She is well respected and I admire her and respect her! Her devotion to service was a lifelong thing for her but she did it and even till she passed she did stuff! You'll never know how much a person meant Until they unfortunately pass on! Some people got a huge shock from HM Passing away I got one too because we were looking at an article because the news said that she was not doing well and we admire the British royal family a lot and we were nearly finished reading the article and we saw the red bar at the top that said," Operation London Bridge has started " and We said Oh the Queen died!!!! NOOO My Mom went to do something and I was shocked and My Grandma likes to read news and she loves the royals as well and I asked if she knew she said yes and we had an awkward silence Moment! My Great- Grandmother was alive during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth and she passed in 2022 as well which was weird! @MatthewCYN15 I like how you expressed how you knew about Her Majesty's Death I Like how you said that she is the True Boss Queen of the UK! You're exactly right! You were watching the Crown and your Mom came in? I want to watch the Crown soon... She will be forever missed and know when she died that she has future Generations in her amazing family to rule just like her! My Mom was from Johannesburg South Africa and From young Her and her family admired them and When I was younger I admired them and I still do! RIP Ma'am HRH Queen Elizabeth II. 👑❤❤

The Queen had become a mythical figure to all of us. We felt that she would go on forever. The speed of her death coming just several hours after the first reports of her declining health and concern by her doctors took everyone by surprise. I certainly expected there to be at least a couple of days as her health deteriorated. Having seen that final set of photos where just two days prior the Queen had met with Liz Truss made the news even harder to digest- although she looked frail she did appear to be vibrant and in good spirits. Whatever condition she was suffering from was obviously much worse than what was being reported by the media- we weren't really prepared for what happened. I still cannot believe she's gone. The Queen has been the one constant in the world throughout my life- a succession of Presidents, Prime Ministers and Popes have come and gone over the past 70 years but the Queen has remained, steadfast and regal. The Queen is dead, God save the King.

I was so surprised when the Queen passed. I knew it was coming since she was already quite old and especially since Prince Phillip had just passed away but I didn’t properly process that it would happen. It felt like maybe the Queen somehow would be immortal. I was quite saddened by it. I was more upset about the Queen’s passing than my own grandfather’s death in 2021. Queen Elizabeth had been the queen for my whole life, my parents’ whole lives, and since my grandparents were babies. She was a constant throughout our whole lives. And she was a huge part of British identity. If you asked a bunch of random people what the first thing is that they think of when they hear the word “Britain”, I good chunk of them would say the Queen. Red Phone boxes, double decker buses, the royal guards, and the Queen. Those are the symbols of the UK. Even if I never met the Queen, she had a huge impact on my life. I live in New Zealand, my grandparents live in the UK. I would only get to see them once every 2 years for 6 weeks. Occasionally I would talk to them on a video call but I never felt like I had anything to talk to them about so I didn’t talk to them often. My grandparents haven’t been a big part of my life since I was a little kid. When my grandfather passed, nothing really changed for me. I never talked to him before so it wasn’t like I was suddenly missing his presence. Occasionally I forget he’s dead because my life feels exactly the same as when he was alive. The queen’s death has a much bigger impact on my life so I felt saddened by the news. I even feared up a bit when I found out because I was upset that my one constant that I could rely on was gone. I’m going to have kids one day and they’re only ever going to know Britain as having a king. That’s crazy to me.

I mean at her age it shouldn't be so surprising but because of the fact that she had lasted so long and at 96 could still get around and do her royal duties kind of makes you think that she sort of will never die. I really just didn't know what to think at first until like a good few hours later that I had gathered my thoughts. To be honest I sort of still don't know what to think, I don't know how to accept this that she's gone. She was truly a great woman and I highly doubt we will see the likes again. I heard that she was under medical supervision, that she was comfortable and her immediate family were travelling to Balmoral to be with her. That did not bode well. That afternoon I was near Green Park. At around 6pm I took a walk to the Palace, I just felt a need to go. As I walked around the side of BP I looked up to the flag, it was fully raised, I breathed a sigh of relief. I convinced myself that she would perk up after a couple of days rest. I hung around, looking at the tourists, (there must have been no more than twenty people there), then I looked up and to my horror the flag was flying at half mast. I realised she had gone. I burst out crying. People around me asked what had happened, I said the Queen has died. At that second I got a notification on my phone from Sky News confirming. I stayed there for maybe half an hour. I made my way home, up the Mall heading for the tube station. People, lots of them were heading the other way, towards the palace, most carrying flowers. As I sat down on the platform, waiting for the tube, there was one already in, I couldn’t be bothered to get on it, thought I’d wait for the next one. As the tube pulled out, I looked up in front at the advertising posters and there she was, QEII in her beautiful glory as a young Queen, I couldn’t believe it. It was eerie, but comforting. I adored her. She inspired me, her wisdom her faith, and her smile, I will never forget. I know Charles is our king now, but, I’m not quite ready to let QEII go, I need more time. As a British citizen, I’ve wondered just how exactly the world has understood or interpreted the majority of our national response to this. I’ve seen so very many wonderful messages from so many individuals all over the world, which has actually been of more comfort than any of you may realise. It’s difficult to explain perhaps why many of us have and are still very much grieving for what some may view objectively as simply the inevitable passing of a rather privileged elderly lady. However, I’d like to elaborate slightly in so much as I am in my mid thirties and our Queen has not only been ever present throughout my entire existence, but also that of my parents & the majority or all of my remaining grandparents lives. Not only present, but an enduring symbol of strength and comfort and someone we all very much looked to during some of the most difficult times of our respective lives. A continual reminder, that in the end - as Her Majesty bore witness to - situations are seldom as bad as they seem and invariably come to pass. If, for example, Americans could imagine a figurehead akin to their founding fathers, maintaining a continual presence spanning the political legacy of your previous 14 Presidents, whilst simultaneously providing confidential counsel to each of them and remaining wholly impartial throughout. A figurehead that many view as not only the nations monarch, but the nations matriarch and in her own special way, truly a kind of grandmother to each of us. Though many of us were not fortunate enough to meet or spend time with her, we all shared our own unique relationship with Her Royal Highness, who spoke to us on every Christmas Day, a reminder, as we each spent time with our respective families, that she belonged to us as much as we belonged to her. A United Kingdom of families. All of this has left many of us feeling an almost ineffable void in the very fabric of our national identity, because for so long, she was there to guide us, protect us and represented each of us every day of her life. I have noticed she has been notably attacked by some as a symbol of British colonial past, but many of us view her greatest achievement as overseeing the most radical overhaul of our national identity and its relationship with the world in our entire history. Despite never being prepared for full royal duties and public life, at the tender age of 21 she pledged to dedicate her whole life to the servitude of her people. At 25 she inherited an empire and during her reign, successfully navigated a transition to a commonwealth family of nations, united by a shared history, but more importantly shared present ideals, principles, values and future goals - not defined by the necessity or demand of a reigning monarch. However, despite this, she remained the head of state for 15 Commonwealth realms and in spite of that colonial past, it is truly a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that 15 nations chose independently to retain a monarchy. During her reign she was the head of state for 32 independent nations and oversaw 179 Prime Ministers throughout her realms. The commonwealth today includes 56 independent member states, 52 of which were formerly a part of that Empire she inherited so long ago. To achieve - within a single lifetime - that level of radical change, whilst retaining both stability and strong global relationships was and is one of the countless reasons I view her as our country’s greatest ever monarch. Her ability to adapt, move with the times, understand her people and modernise the Royal family, both in its role and responsibilities, the standards she upheld and demanded and her flawless approach to public life has never ceased to amaze me. The ability of one person to conduct herself so impeccably over 70 years without ever shirking her duties, overstepping her boundaries or breaking her responsibilities of impartiality, respect, dignity, loyalty and servitude. Not to mention her enduring work ethic, never so significantly portrayed than two days prior to her passing, at 96 years of age, frail and clearly unwell, still bound by duty and determined to fulfil that long ago pledge to devote her whole life... she ushered in her 15th Prime Minister of the UK. So, from her endearing charm to endless humour, to our Queen, whom you knew as The Queen and we lovingly dubbed Maj/Madge or Ma’am, you truly were the cornerstone upon which modern Britain was built and, I believe, embodied every characteristic we should all aspire to exhibit. Quite simply, thank you for everything.

You don't have to be a monarchist to appreciate what an extraordinary figure she was. The last few weeks have shown that a lot of people are sorely lacking when it comes to knowledge of history. The fact that the British empire came to an end during her reign and didn't take tens of millions of lives along with it as most every empire in history has done when it fell is absolutely incredible. I'm not saying it was perfect or bloodless but when you look at the circumstances of the fall of other empires throughout history it's hard to imagine a more peaceful end to what was the most vast empire in human history at its peak 100 years ago.

I grew up in a perceived Diana vs the Queen rival - Diana, so beautiful, won in my mind of course. But in my early 30's - I saw that the Queen was quite stunning when young and her dashing husband as well (which made my mouth drop to see the DOE as a fox as a young man). I learned that both women cared deeply about people, but had different talents. QEII was steady and reliable and consistent and could inspire greatly with a few words. She clearly had a great sense of fun - jumping out of a helicopter for the olympics (well, going along with all of that) - we didn't get to see that until later. My friend went out her way to make sure she was the one to tell me QEII passed, I knew it was imminent, but still to hear those words....and I'm an American.

It's been sort of confirming for me. In my (danish) family we actually discuss monarchism and republicanism now and then. I'm sort of the fence-sitter among us where my dad is more sympathetic to our queen and my youngest sister is vividly opposed to any monarchs. My stance has always been that ideologically I think it makes sense that no family should be above any other, like what you see in a kingdom, but in consitutional monarchies I also think it's quite clearly a stabilising elements, at least as long as the monarch in question faces checks and balances, and doesn't test them. Our queen is quite old as well, so we face a situation like this in the not too distant future.
