Spring Day is the queen of all BTS songs. Since it's released till today it is still in the Korean Hit Chart. Every spring it would goes up the chart. For me, this is the bravest and controversial song of BTS. Though in one interview RM said that the song is not related to an event (well he has his reasons that time) but the MV is. In another interview Jin mentioned that the song is about an event but did not specifically mentioned which or what event it was. This song is a beautiful masterpiece and tribute that can be passed on to generations to generations. It's a must that you watch the explanation of the MV by Bulletproof or Italian Army channel. There's so much going on on the MV and you need to discover and check on the explanation video. Just be ready to be heart broken. Thanks for reacting to BTS.

@@ipurpleu1668I agree with you. RM has mentioned before that the story about this song has nothing to do with the case. However, Big Hit, who made the music video, thinks that it was related to the Sewol Ferry incident, so I think listening to the explanation about the music video can also be a good experience. Contrary to the composer or lyricist's intention, sometimes certain I think there are songs that have a symbolism for . For example, songs like 'Evergreen Tree' and 'Morning Dew' were songs that influenced the democratization movement in Korea. In this way, I think that 'Spring Day' has a symbolic meaning suitable for the times and events in Korea. So, it would be nice to apply various ways of enjoying songs. It is good to enjoy the song by recognizing the sound alone, but I think that understanding the meaning of the lyrics and the intention of the creator of the music video along with the music video will increase the fun of the new deeper song. So I think that your opinion and the opinions of other ARMYs are good communication for each other. 당신의 의견에 동의합니다. "Spring Day" is a song by the South Korean boy band BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan). The song was released on February 13, 2017, as the title track of their album "You Never Walk Alone," which was an extended version of their album "Wings." "Spring Day" was written and produced by the band members RM, Suga, and J-Hope, along with Pdogg, Rap Monster, and Big Hit Entertainment's PD Bang Si-hyuk. The song deals with the theme of loss, separation, and longing for a loved one. It expresses the emotions and the yearning for reunion while struggling through a long and cold "winter time," symbolizing a difficult phase or a hard time in life. Korean ARMY here. There's so many layers to this song. Contrary to what many international ARMYs believe the song itself is not about the Sewol tragedy but was written by RM and Suga about missing friendships. The MV seems to be about the Sewol but has never been confirmed by BTS or BigHit. One of the biggest part for native Korean speakers is the Korean poetry used in the lyrics...these have special meaning to us and is the reason why Spring Day stays in our music charts

Guys, you will hear this again and again, they do practically in videos when at all possible (ex. Fake Love water, fire, and falling floor). Green screen isn't used much at all. Please do as others say, check the explanation videos. This is such a touching song that is entangled, if not inspired by, a very public and senseless tragedy where an enormous number of children died. Thanks for checking it out. I think you would appreciate the video even more.

This is a copy and paste from some one else that gave a Spring Day explanation so beautifully. “Spring Day is a beautiful song with a beautiful message that can really reach million of people for different reasons. The song was written by RM and Suga as they thought back on memories they had of lost friends. RM said that writing this song is what inspired him to reach back out to friends that he had been missing and gave him the confidence to go for it. Suga wrote this song about someone who was his dearest friend. Their relationship ended on rough terms and he tells about missing him and thinking about those complex feelings of nostalgia, grief, sorrow, and anger that comes with a broken relationship. He wrote another song "Dear My Friend", which is on his second mixtape, about the same friend. The music video for the song was separately inspired by and giving memorial to the victims of the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. This is what really lead the song to take off and become pretty famous in South Korea. It still stays on the charts today, some six years later. They have also since dedicated the song to high school seniors of 2020 when they sang it at the UKposts graduation and to their fans for this Tiny Desk Concert. I love this song because of how powerful it is and how it can be relatable to so many people. I know many people who are reminded of lost ones, some who think of old friends, some who think of the ferry tragedy, and many other reasons to love this song.”

Definitely watch the explanation. There is a really powerful message in this mv that you need to see to understand it and truly appreciate it. It (the mv) is in relation to a very sad, heartbreaking "disaster" that happened in Korea. In most of their videos you need to watch the explanation as there are many hidden messages and army has gone through them all and explanations/theories are out there.

This is one of their songs that truely makes me cry everytime i hear it, this song reminds me of my nana i lost a couple of years back but i know that ill see her again and this song brings me that comfort and Vs line “ you know it all your my best friend” pulls at my heart strings so much and it makes me cry alot. This so is so full of emotion and you can here it in their voice and the way they move and sing it is also about a terrible tradgey that happen in Korea where a ferry boat was sinking and about 300 people died most of them were school children and this is known as the seoul ferry tradgey. Also this song is our Queen as she's been on the charts flying high since she was released

Spring Day has been in the Korean charts for years and years. In Korea it has been adopted as a memory song for the Sewol Ferry disaster when hundreds of school children were drowned on a school trip. Not only did the kids drown but the tragedy was linked to people in power/government. Life boats were kept away from the sinking ship because the owners didn't want the fact thst the ferry was overloaded to get out. Knowing the story I can't watch it without tears.

It is widely believed that "Spring Day" is a social commentary on the 2014 sinking of the Sewol ferry that left more than 300 people dead in South Korea. It would be nearly impossible for new viewers to truly grasp the meaning of the song and the MV. There are multiple explanation videos out that lay out theories for this MV, including the metaphors and the background of many images you saw in the MV. Many, myself included, would probably urge you to take the time to learn more about this MV so that you can better understand the purpose of the song. God Bless.

@@yukuolee3562 There are many times they have explained it. I believe RM originally talks about it in his album explanation vlive for the album "Wings". Him and Suga also talk about it in the album release vlive. Pdogg talks about it on a singing show that I can't remember the name of. He mentions how the song was used to comfort society and how proud it makes him to see the impact of it. Jin says in an interview that it's about "sad events and situations people go through. And just about loneliness". Then, most recently, they talk about it in their new book. Suga specifically confirms the theory many fans had about him writing his lyrics specifically about the same friend he wrote "Dear My Friend" about. Not sure why ARMYs like to ask like its this big mystery and spread this idea of that. It's why so many people think it is.

I know you've got essays for days in your comments here, but I really wanted to add my bit. Others mentioned the kids that died, but people weren't even allowed to speak about it as the govt swept it under the rug and silenced people who tried to talk about it in public. BTS made this song and mv that sounded/looked like a song about just missing people so the government didn't catch on and it stayed on the charts for years to honor and acknowledge the people whose lives were lost. The cake scene to me was the saddest, because while the parents protested the government for the loss of their children, the government were telling them to move on and celebrate the ones who survived - like the cake that was being thrown in RM's face.

My first time watching Spring Day I felt incredibly sad without understanding why. Having had loss in my life I totally related, then I watched a couple explanation videos and really felt the loss. You’ll also understand that this song addresses social injustice as well. So I encourage you to watch explanation videos.

People are so ready to jump at your throats for the slightest comment that they don't agree with. If a song doesn't speak to you as much, it's totally okay. If you have a different understanding or interpretation of the song/music video, it's okay too. Regardless, this song does speak to a lot of people as everyone can relate to grief, sense of loss, and missing someone dear to them. As what others have mentioned previously, do watch the explanation video when/if you have time though, don't even have to do a reaction to it. BTS never does anything unintentionally.

So as orhers said there was a Sewol Ferry Trajedy in 2014. The song was written by RM prior to to the trajedy but wgen they did the mv it was after the trajedy and there is alot of symbolism. The song is about greif and misding loved ones. Telling us that that sadness and lonliness will not last forever. Such as Spring always comes after winter. The song was used by BTS during the pandemic that effected the whole world. Since millions of people around the world died that left even more families and friends greiving once again. Also with lock downs BTS and ARMYS were physically seperated. Please watch the explaination. Thanks

even without the actual explanation, the clip starts with an indication to suicide, and the lyrics talk about grief and about missing someone. before checking the explanation clip, I used to believe (it still fit) that this clip talking about grief and how they try to move on, remembering the memories with fondness then letting go at the end with the hanged shoes.

Always enjoy your reactions. I first heard Spring Day and thought about all those I missed, like one of my best friends, my parents, and my brothers. It's a beautiful song, but I always tear up when I hear it, even though I've had many spring days since they left. Later, I watched the MV, but couldn't tie the lyrics to scenes in the MV. Then, I watched the explanation video. It is about a tragic event, one that Koreans will never forget. 💜💜💜

A lot of people will tell you to watch the explanation video. Keep in mind the explanation video is just a fan theory, and it has very compelling points within the context of the music video. But a lot of people confuse this as the intention behind the song, please don't fall for it. RM and Suga have both said they wrote it about friends they lost contact with. Agust D's song 'Dear my Friend', is about the same friendship from Suga's past.

@YourRyeBread Spring Day is a beautiful, meaningful song to many. What happened with the ferry was truly a tragic event, and I can understand that it means something to Korean citizens in that context. The fact that so many other people cling to it based of the expaination videos provides a false sentimentality on their part. It's a song that people can relate to, but a lot of ARMY don't try to relate to it on their own and instead rinse and repeat the some talking points, to the point they are deluded into thinking that it was written outside of the members' own experiences. The song has a specific meaning to RM and Suga, so the song itself is not about the ferry sinking, whereas the MV most likely is.

As the OP pointed out, the original song was written by RM about losing contact with friends. The music video can have additional meanings, but the original meaning behind the song is not the ferry tragedy. The OP was just making a distinction between the song and the music video.

Spring Day is the song with the most streams, most unique listeners, most likes and the longest charting song on MelOn history. It has never left the charts and anytime it’s in danger of leaving Korean army hold streaming parties. Melon is the big Korean streaming service. It’s one of the most impactful songs the guys have written. I felt bad you started saying “I’m guess it’s a pretty song a happy song” plays a song that is so full of grief and longing and an MV with symbolism about a national tragedy where 300+ teens were killed and deep political criticism. All Army are one “Bogoshipda” away from tears.

This is one you need the explaination video, its deep multilayered they say the pile of clothes represent the children who died needlessly on the ferry because they obeyed the order to stay where they were. Its about loss, survivor guilt. Yet though everything in the video seems to confirm this including the title. BTS has neither denied or confirmed it for obvious reasons. Nevertheless radio stations play it on the anniversary of the tradegy.

Now, please watch the Italian ARMY explainer video of the music video (not the other one). Believe me when I say you will understand and connect if you watch that specific video. The song is about loss (specifically of friends, but works for others we lose through circumstance or death) and is therefore relevant in a lot of situations, but the music video? That's an entirely different story. Funny that you mention it's a good song for the pandemic, though - they sang it during the pandemic a couple of different times, most notably during their "NPR Tiny Desk" performance. It's not on the "Map of the Soul" albums. It's from "You Never Walk Alone."

Yeah... there's a reason most reactors are warned to avoid this song for a while and it's because we're protective of it. Unfortunately, since I've seen all your previous BTS videos, I knew it was likely inevitable that you'd hit this song and treat it the same as the others thus needing a follow up video at some point (I assume people will probably end up hounding about it outside this comment section as well). There's really only two Spring Day Explanation videos to this day, and most people like them both thus always asking for both in one video. Good luck for all of this. There's extremely heavy subjects in your future unless you're... idk... enough to not watch a follow up. By the way, I've been pretty sure the cake is too far forward to actually hit RM for years so I think RM was green screen but the rest weren't maybe.

It is a political mv ! RM wrote this based on a movie called snow piecer to beat the system ..all the lyric match to that video..there are a lot of indications ..the president of Korean that time was very bad ..(this time will go no season will last ) ..especially the ferry ⛴️ accident ..when the families lost their kids and no one can talk about it because of the president…this is a deep mv ..has a lot of clues

Spring day is so important, emotional, heartbreaking, and until now it still in korean charts since 2017. Spring day is a tribute song about south korea Sewol Ferry tragedy that happened in 2014. The ship was sink and many Students die and trap in sinking ship. The captain tell to the students to stay in their spot and don't evacuate but the harsh is that the captain and Crew members left and evacuate the sinking ship and left the kids inside

Listen you really really need an explaination video for the MV. This MV uses symbolism the korean people understood to talk about one of the most shameful things I have ever heard. The most in depth explaination is ITALIAN ARMY SPRING DAY as it deals with the Sewol Disaster not just the video. However as long as its from a korean any of the other shorter explainations will sort of work. However I warn you it's hard listening, and anger with nowhere to go can lead to depression. It's not that the captain told the children to not move from their cabins so he and the crew could get rescued first. It's not even that the government then told the coastguard to do nothing and wait for instruction, then no instruction came, or even that the coastguard tried to stop parents in civilian boats rescue children off the slowly sinking ship, or that though the children could be clearly seen moving behind the windows in air locks below the water line and that they slit the hoses of the civilian divers wanting to rescue the children. Its the suppression of news lies saying the parents just wanted payouts and the treatment of artists trying to comment. Highlighted this was not just a cluster F... up of a series of incompetences after the captains dereliction of duty this was deliberate corruption BTS were very brave doing this. It deserves to be understood, the approx 300 school age children left to die and lied about. brought down the government. SPRINGDAY has never been out of the korean charts.

This song was written in memory of the victims of the Sewol ferry, then a lot of schoolchildren died...hundreds of young people drowned in their graduation..

This is not correct. The song was inspired by RM and Suga's memories of past friends. The music video was inspired by the tragedy.

First off, your comment sounds incredibly rude. Secondly, every song is up for interpretation by the listener. Even if it has a very precise meaning, a listener may relate to it in a very different way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And last, they are going into the reaction blind, they weren't born with a vast knowledge of all things BTS, so there is no need to berate them after their first response. It's not easy to focus on all the lyrics as well as the visuals in one shot. I highly doubt you understood all the hidden meaning and references the first time you experienced it.

The song has nothing to do with the tragedy that you are eluding to. The song was inspired by RM and Suga missing past friends. Only the music video is most likely related to the incident. I believe Jin confirmed that in a live.

The song is about grief and missing friends. The MV has a completely separate missing that has similar themes.
