ngl, out of all horror game villains, Dealer is actually a fair player. it earns my respect.

I love how the Dealer keeps making misplays even when odds are telling him to do the other. He's not a tryhard trying to win and that's that - he's a gambler just like you are and loves rolling a good dice, even if he ends up shooting himself in the face. It makes him very endearing in a weird way.

The reason the dealers actions can seem somewhat stupid at times is because the deciding factor in whether he shoots you or himself is a simply coin flip so 50/50

the dealer let's the player start every round even after shooting himself with a blank, which is more than fair, but he doesn't really seem to mind losing given how often he shoots himself.

The fact that the "Yes" button has been pressed by everyone because it has marks on it and the "No" button is clean is a very good and horrifying detail.

Mark's gambling with strong guess of possibilities, and honestly i like this game as you need to figure out every possibilities that may will occur, and you have to either take one of those and bet it, or let it slide.

the dealer's AI works like this: 1. The dealer will always use any and all the items he can at any turn, he uses them in the order he gets them (which we can't see) 2. If he uses a magnifying glass, sees it's a blank, then uses a beer and racks the shotgun, he STILL thinks it's a blank and will shoot himself anyway (same with if it's a live, he'll shoot the player no matter what) 3. The dealer's AI DOES NOT KNOW STATISTICS! Every time it's his turn he flips a coin and shoots either himself or the player, he only knows what the very last shell is

I love the music in this game, even if it's repetitive and simple, the way its used is perfect, kicking up after a shot, speeding up after double or nothing, slowing down after a dealer death, with the second death making it go mute for a few moments, and with a slightly different track for each round. It works very well with the sound effects

i rarely comment on youtube, but i have seen someone use “death” as a name, and when they played using that name, they had an easter egg when they lost all their lives. i won’t spoil it, but i think having the “easter egg names” are only triggered by death sequences or etc in the game as long as you’re using the name when you start. it doesn’t just automatically give you an easter egg, at least i don’t think it does

The reason is mark is so good is he's able to do critical thinking and math skills as well as just have insane luck, all 3 very important for this type of game

The dealer tosses a coin if he doesn't know what the round is, always knows what it is when it's the last round, and uses items as soon as reasonable. There's one glitch I know of, where if he sees a blank with a magnifying glass and chugs a beer to clear it, he still thinks it's a blank in the chamber so will invariably shoot himself.

For anyone wondering why the Dealer is kind of dumb and often shoots itself, it's because it's not calculating probability like a human would. The way it functions is this: 1. Dealer will use items in the order it received them. Oldest items are used first at the earliest opportunity. For example, if it gets 2 handcuffs in a row, it will use one on the player, and then once they are uncuffed use it again. If it gets a couple of magnifying glasses in a row, it will use one, then because it already knows the current round it won't use the other one but will instead skip to the next available item (beer, cigarette, etc) and then use the other magnifying glass on the next turn. This is why you can see it do things like drink 3 beers in a row or use cigarettes multiple times in one turn, because those are valid moves and it wants to burn through items as soon as it can if it is able to use them 2. When using the magnifying glass, it doesn't actually reset what the AI thinks if it does something like drinking beer, so if it sees a blank then chugs a beer which changes it a live round, the AI still thinks it's a blank and will always shoot itself. If it sees a live round it will always shoot the player even if it changed to a blank because it believes it is still a live round. This is why it will also waste knives on blanks or proceed to shoot itself and do extra damage, particularly if it got a knife before a magnifying glass 3. The AI only actually knows what the _last_ round in the shotgun is. If it sees the current round via the magnifying glass it will act accordingly, but the only one it knows for certain is the last round when you reach it. If it doesn't know the round (no magnifying glass and it's not the last round) it will basically do a coin flip on whether to shoot the player or itself. This implies that while the player can see how many of each round there is at the beginning, the AI cannot and thus doesn't know if all the live or blank rounds have been used/ejected and instead runs on the assumption that there is always both still available

Lmao mark trying to figure out what happened with the three lives and three blanks is giving real “one plus one plus two plus one” energy

7:30 , there is a youtube video that goes into the deals AI more in-depth but the tl;dr is that it spams items (except knife which it only uses when it is going to try to shoot you) and chooses who to shoot with a 50/50 coin toss. The only times it doesn't shoot 50/50 is when it knows what the next bullet is, it only knows the next bullet when using the magnifying glass and when it's on the final bullet. There is also a funny bug he can do where he sees a blank with the magnifying glass and then drinks beer he will still think that the blank is the next bullet.

Mark is genuinely the most skilled person I've seen play this game, there were a few times where I thought he misplayed only to see he was thinking more moves ahead. He plays this game like chess.
