Very impressive! I made a small genset out of an old echo 2stroke motor just for running an old water pump, but I never thought of going any further than that until I see how you made yours! Anything made homemade is worth it
@vincentement2 роки тому
Hi James,, I plane to built something for running an electric water pump also. Maybe a generator of this type ( though I have no idea where to find such a dynamo ) or making a water pump engine like this one ( though I have no idea where to find such a pump. ) ukposts.info/have/v-deo/jXd0l5WhboiiloU.html But I have one question, maybe you can help. In both videos they are using trimmer motors although both motors are very quiet compared to what a trimmer sounds. How is that possible ? Is it due to a carburetor adjustment ? Is that because the motor is using less torque ? I need something not as loud as trimmer coz I need to pump water from a close river to fill tanks (about 3000 l in all) and the garden is surrounded by houses...
@pedronne11235 років тому

you need a mechanical govern, so that when the engine slows under load its able to automatically give engine more gas to speed it up. with small setups like this an alternator setup with battery is better so that surges dont kill the rest of what you have plugged in, battery powers everything and alternator charges battery..

@@smetankorzevic6647 Современный цифровой телевизор будет работать т.к. потребляет он не так уж и много (основной потребитель тока будет LED подсветка экрана). Блок питания такого телевизора расчитан на достаточно большой разброс напряжения. I like it , but there is no control ov voltage and frequenzy . . There is a risk to destroy things with like a stationary computer , TV and other more complex stuff ? ? ? But for moore simple resistiv powerconsumers it seems to work well !
@adamw.85795 років тому
Probably all devices with switch mode power supplies will work fine, but inductive loads - electrical motors, transformers are sensible to frequency and should not be connected to this generator.
@GUDUELECTRONIC4 роки тому
most switching mode power supply such laptop/phone charger or inside a tv doesn't care about frequency because once the AC current flow into the power supply, it will rectified into High voltage DC an there will be no more frequency. So, no matter how the frequency high or low in the end it is converted into DC.
@adamw.85794 роки тому
@@GUDUELECTRONIC Exactly.
@HobkinBoi4 роки тому
There is control on the voltage, but frequency is probably a bit more difficult. I personally would try to set up a governor system with a servo and a microcontroller to regulate the voltage and adjust the throttle accordingly.

So the voltage is regulated how? Engine RPM or does the Dynamo have a 220 voltage regulator? Needs belt tensioner. Will conserve drive belt.
@kevinmithnick9993Рік тому
I was making same questions but if you notice the devices he is attaching does not require "regulated" voltage. If you see the label of most of cellphone chargers or laptops, they accept wide range voltaje as they internally have switching power supply
@rushilkadu38775 років тому
Where did you salvage the Dynamo from?? What are the cheapest alternative for about 3-5 kW Dynamo???

I might be reluctant to power electronic devices and/or certain types of battery chargers without seeing the output waveform.
@N0body2474 роки тому
Most electronics now adays do not need a sine wave. your any electronics that take 5v (ie phone tablet ect) can run 120 and 240 from their transformer to make 5v. They are step down converters with usb plugs. same with MOST laptops. they will output 12v from 120 -240. Check the power brick to confirm obvsiously but all my stuff can work dual voltage. there for you dont need pure sinewave. As long as its more than what you need on your output the charger will filter and do its job.
@jnoliveros185 років тому
just add 220v voltage regulator and tune the frequency to 60hz by adjusting the motor rpm
@CesarAugustoMartinez5 років тому
I agree.
@darlansampaio12375 років тому
a frequência se ajusta com a rotação é isso mesmo que entendi ? e de que é esse motor ?
@lesterawalt31844 роки тому
@ Every thing needs 50 or 60 Hz even the switching power supplies for them put out the correct amps and duty cycle time.
4 роки тому
@@lesterawalt3184 What will happen if the generator will produce electricity at 90 Hz? Or 40 Hz? I would expect that if the device has internal rectifier to convert into DC current then at 40 Hz it will be less efficient, but at 90 Hz it will be more efficient (filtering high frequency in power supply require lower values for capacitors). Of cause badly designed power supplies will be to 'sensitive' for frequency changes. Modern power supplies have voltage range 100-240 Volts and 50-60 Hz. I expect that most power supplies for many electronic devices will be doing fine if frequency is 50-120 Hz -- the power supplies have internal stabilizers to adjust for changes.
@Aussiehomestead19654 роки тому
You cant regulate Hertz by adjusting the speed of the motor. It would be fixed at say 50 hertz at 240 volts.
