When you graduate from college, I am sure your parents would look at all the furniture you left behind and say, "That's my boy!" If you were to get an apartment, or a house, would there be a playlist of you're making a workshop, and furniture for it? Until then, thumbs up.

Man I’m 31 years old and I’m not ashamed to say your experience with regard to under estimating/over promising the amount of time it took to finish the build was comforting to see. There’ve been so many projects that I’ve unnecessarily beat myself up over not finishing when I thought I “should have.” So much to learn in the way of granting yourself the grace which you so often give to others. I just discovered your channel. Saw this one come up a few times and figured hey why not see what he’s got to offer. Really neat seeing the success you’ve achieved at a relatively young age. DUDEI! You legit did work on this. I thought it was going to be one of those "look at me build this in my driveway, with 10k worth of tools" but instead you really did all this with basic stuff on saw horses in the middle of winter. Legit kudos. and that wave front end is next level. Your excitement at every item that turned out how planned got me excited for it working out for you. I know all too well the frustration of putting time into wood just for it to need to be scrapped. 👍

I was a carpenter on construction sites for many years, all the other carpenters used to come to me to sharpen their chisels as none of them were any good at it. Learn to free hand it, having a bit of a bevel is not the end of the world and if you care it doesn't take long to learn how to get a flat edge on it. I did most of the work with my legs and used my upper body to brace it. Also don't overthink it, you can do the same with rocks down by a river, this is ancient and primitive stuff, and that's a good thing. Also sharpening a wood saw is way easier than you'd think

Not only would this be a great way to thank your parents, but I would really love to see how you would approach kitchen cabinetry with your modern woodworking aesthetic. Normally, these kinds of videos go in my Wood or Projects playlist for inspiration later, but this one is also going straight into my Favorites. Very nice work, Miles. I'm very jealous, but also immensely stoked and also proud even though I don't even know you. It just turned out so well, and doing a project like this from a set of bought, premade plans would already be a pretty good achievement for most hobby woodworkers, but the fact that you thought this up and just came up with every step and executed them yourself, is just immensely gratifying and you should also be proud. I'm sure there are other builders looking at this and thinking "that's easy" and you might be right, in which case you should also be proud of your skills, something like this takes real finesse and dedication, especially making those kerfs work and then that door. Bravo, Miles.

Miles your design drawing alone shows such talent but the finished piece is mind blowingly amazing as such a timeless piece of furniture made so well. I love that such a beautiful stylish piece of furniture complements the record play as enhances is retro side in such a classy way - would love that in my home . Your video edit is fab too - you really do rock !

Miles. You remind me so much of my younger self. Trust me. All the “struggles” you are dealing with now, will make you infinitely more knowledgeable, given you keep on with this. We learn so much more in our failures and frustrations, in our deepest darkest hours, than we do when things go flawlessly. ( where we learn nothing!) keep on carrying sheets of ply solo, keep on working outside under a dripping wind blown tent, keep on pushing yourself. And most importantly, keep on failing sometimes, then soak up all that knowledge and trudge forward with newfound wisdom that can only be learned the hard way ! Keep up the great work and you will be in blissful awe years from now, when one day you wake up and your suddenly the “new “ Maloof! SJ

Thanks for sharing this build with all of us - really nice. I think I have the same stereo system you inherited from your grandparents - worth $5000 for each piece - because stereos are just not built the way they used to! You remind me of me & other kids I went to school with in the 1980's before video games & the internet existed- totally involved in interesting, ACTIVE activities instead of today's kids who just play ticktoc or video games 24/7. It's refreshing to see there is at least one young person out there who is 'interested' in interesting things & interested in 'living' life. Your parents must be amazing.

Amazing work, Miles! I know too well the frustration and disappointment when things take x2 or x3 times more to complete. Don't let that feeling corrode you. What truly matters is that the project is complete and that it makes you feel fulfilled in the end. Great work takes a great amount of time. And that's also because it takes a great part of us. If we do things quickly and without care, I don't see the point of doing them in the first place. :)

Thanks Cristiana! It really means a lot that you watched my video! I’m glad you can relate to wanting to take your time to make sure it’s done right, some might call it perfectionism, but it makes me much happier when I see the end result!

Dude, I've watched you grow. Literally, figuratively & as a craftsman. It's weird but It's like watching a little brother grow & succeed. It feels strange but great being "proud" of what you are doing, how far you've come & how far you will go. Like I said, like watching a little brother grow right before you :) BTW, that parametric design is amazing AND no cnc needed 👌🏻! You're amazing & inspiring. Keep them videos coming my dude. Let's goooo!!

Absolutely in spectacular! The design is fanominal. Execution came from your heart. Perseverance through weather and the unexpected speaks volumes. Some of the finest of woodworking shops could not execute what you did under a tent in the winter. The production editing and content kept me from scrolling. I really appreciate you sharing this experience. All the best.
