@@user-my6fn2ml7c Definitely can't be used in the same role though. I imagine the ballistics of the 7.62x39 are very anemic out of this gun. Probably a bull in a Chinashop in close quarters but awful reaching out say 200 meters or more. I still think this is would be great for home defense if you live alone though!

I got a x95 want get the Geisselle trigger upgrade and Jard trigger for my tungsten MDRX with mantis bipod waiting on form4 and I so want digitrigger for nice AR plus timney for my glock and Volquartsen for my mark iv I'm dying it gets so expensive that few thousand just for triggers 😂

Bull pup always makes sense , shorter more compact gun same barrel length same velocity same hit ! , makes it very versatile , just has to be made reliable very reliable .

Honestly if i did do that, then I’d do a single shot magazine block, 20” barrel with a Barrett M107-style flash hider, a pantheon arms kentri short buffer system (it’s rated for 5.56 and .50 Beowulf standard buffers), a SB Tactical mini brace with a devoid stock insert, a canted vertical fore grip, UTG MLOK collapsible bipod, and a proper scope for hunting purposes.

@@BIG.RandHoe I have the tank break on my beowulf with a 3-9x40. I just use a stock ar lower. It's got about 10" of drop at 200 yards with an 18" barrell. so that's about max range. It's fun to shoot though, no way would i make it single shot.

@@vinny5203 I only suggest single shot as reloading this would be interesting yet also funny to do. I did a mag block to my Lee enfield simply because magazines are expensive and hard to come by, but also enjoy the feeling of having a bandolier of ammo on hand for quick reloads lol

There's a reason most bullpups are somewhere around a pound heavier than a standard config rifle (same caliber and barrel length)... they have a thick(ish) steel plate over the BCG to protect your face 😅 Nonetheless, with a good piston upper, a Geissele trigger and a 20" barrel that would make for a nice platform using the bullpup's compactness and the better barrel length to optimise a 5.56

I would opt for a 14.5 pin and weld. Reason is your shoulder is eating all the recoil way you hold it. 14.5 you can fit a UTG angled grip. The both arms can push against the recoil instead. This is pretty cool though, BRN-180 is clever decision.

If your doing a 14.5 pin and welded so itl be 16" barrel and be considered a rifle it will still be considered an sbr because the overall length with a 14.5 pin and welded barrel is less than the 26" OAL if your using a Brownells upper. I looked into doing the same thing.

I remember the Bushmaster M17 from the 90s. One guy at the range bought one. It was based on the AR-18 instead of the AR-15 to keep gas out of the receiver. In fact, I can remember you could get conversion kits for a variety of guns, pre-AWB. It was just a weird trend

Thanks for this video, I have been looking at this stock option since I wanted a 7.62x39 bullpup but none are really available. I was looking at the BRN-180 upper in that caliber and I am glad it works with this stock. I plan on doing a 16 inch barrel but I would cut the barrel down to 14.5 and have a muzzle device pinned/welded to get me back north of the 16 inch mark.

@@chrisloUSAIt should with their over priced 'butt pad' they sell. there are other work arounds for the OAL issue too. OR, you don't actually put a butt pad on it and run it as a 'pistol' when you buy your lower. It's up to you. Best option for these so far is the Foxtrot Mike upper. But they don't have a x39 as far as I know. They are a high quality company that cares though. Their odd innovations in assembly design alone make them a company to look at. Another option is to use one of the 2 new bufferless carriers on the market and hope for the best with those. Evolution Weapons and Law Tactical make those.. you'd still have to T charge it though. There is a side charger that replaces the t charger.. IDK if it's still in production though.

@@maguslascivious4980 TBH, if I am going to do a bullpup I can’t shoulder I would do one of those bullpup kits for the AK pistols, I have a Zastava M92 already that I cannot get a pistol brace for anymore. I was also considering trying one of those MP5 shoulder slings on it. If I follow through with this build, I will have to look into that OAL issue, worse case I would think if I pin/weld the flash hider to the 16 inch barrel, I would think that would get me the required OAL length. I would stick to a BRN-180 upper in 7.62x39 since no special additional parts are needed to make it work. I don’t want to over complicate this build.

@@chrisloUSA As far as this kit goes, you can shoulder it. lol.. It needs a stock no matter what. Just buy a cheap pic rail riser if you're worried about it. I just hope someone 3d prints something good for it. Hit up HagaDefense they make a nice stock up grade for the KT RDB that could probably be modified to work with this kit.

honestly I'm surprised by the number of people who have rather unweildy home defense firearms like shotguns and ar15s... Unless you live in a mansion with lots of wide-open spaces and big hallways, it does seem like a bullpup is literally the perfect pick for those close-quarters home defense situations.

@@jimyeatswith that stock pad yes. I have 16" with the Scy and made a modified stock to take it up to 27" total. Could’ve gotten it to 26.5" but I have a QD sling swivel that needed that extra half inch to remain "QD".

I like the idea of a way to convert an ar15 (ar10 in the future hopefully) like this but I can tell it still has quite a few things to sort out. I don't really like the optic on the handguard mounting system, or the buttstock. Still seems like a really nice step forward and I love that.

That handguard is so short it's probably fine. It's not exactly a precision rifle setup anyway. This would be nice and compact for home defense, it seems reliable.

I always mount them like that. There's a CQB technique that requires it, plus, if I toss my NVG up there, or crazier, my NVG plus its 3x magnifier, all the sudden there's not enough rail space with traditional RDS set up.

The JAKL has a chonker fore end. The conversion kit will need to have material removed to fit the JAKL. I will likely get the a3 triad for a 16"JAKL in that sweet smoke grey

Another option that I would recommend checking out is the new A3 Tactical Triad, it seems to be a little more refined version of this and is made specifically for bufferless uppers, be they FM-15's, BRN-180's, or Jakls (what I think makes the most sense, personally). It's set to launch in February, but looks really cool!

Ah the triad... it looks cooler, I'll give you that. Pay attention though and you start to see the problems, none of which the SCY has. 1) You need a separate chassis for each upper you have, can't swap calibers or even just barrel length options unless you have the chassis for a specific upper, of which they only support 4. Very antithetical to the AR-15's most celebrated aspect... modular versatility. 2) Bufferless upper systems only. These are significantly more expensive and not very common. You will likely have to buy a whole new upper at a premium instead of fitting a Triad onto a gun you already own. 3) Limited magazine compatibility, for any caliber version. 4) Price. Scy is $500. Triad is $750+. They could cut their prices by 50% (HALF?!) and you'd still be spending more money than a Scy, and you'll have less options once you do. From the looks of things, A3 Tactical is just whaling for big spenders, not attempting to popularize bullpup design like they claim.

What we really need is a bullpup feeding from AK mags. 7.62x39 is the most available, affordable and usable round for short barrels. You can make a 10" barrel Bullpup and it's shorter than an MP5. Or 16" pin&weld to avoid the NFA. But it would be usable by being affordable.

Like that guy ^ said, it's the lower that dictates the mag. You just need an AR lower made for AK mags. It should fit fine because the pins are in the same place, it just has a different mag well.

@@Bacteriophagebs I looked into it on the ride and and its what I suspected. The KS-47 takes a higher cut carrier to avoid the feed lips on the AK mag and some machine shops will cut them for you. From just looking at pictures, the AK Mag and the KS-47 lower are geometrically incompatible with the bullpup conversion as it catch is blocked and probably the trigger arm as well. Still looks like something I would want to 3d print a conversion if I could afford to be retired lol.

@@ChuckMortonif you did that then you wouldn't have a bullpup. This device is a custom-made lower that makes a bullpup. It's attached to a piston-driven upper receiver from Brownells. If you put a PSA lower receiver on it you would just have an AR-15 configuration.

Those unsuppressed freehand shots at the end are something else. You gotta remember you are shooting a full length rifle as far as accuracy and cartridge power goes.. you could almost add a flip out stock at the end of it for those kind of shots 😂

Real question here. Do you think this would pass the ATF's test for an SBR? Part of the test is not having a stock or anything added rearward to assist in shoulderability. You could say you have to technically remove parts such as the buffer tube, and you could go without the scythe pad they include for the rear, which maybe could make this firearm viewed as "Non shoulderable". Thoughts?

Just the receiver is $500. It's another $500 to get the bolt carrier of that allows you to eliminate the need for a buffer tube. Then by the time you got the barrel and everything you could have just bought a real bullpup. You can get something really nice for about $1,500. I thought this might be a cheap way to get yourself a bullpup but it's not cheap at all really, when you add everything up.

You can buy that exact 7.62x39 complete upper for a 1,000$. In 223 it is 850$. The Foxtrot Mike-15 in 223 wylde is only 650 for a complete upper. The complete PSA Jakl upper is between 650 to 820 depending on barrel length. The least expensive decent Bullpups are the Hellion and the Tavor X95 at about 1800$ so I would save about 400 bucks on my FM-15 build. I guess its geared more to the "I already have a gun to use" market since the price of the Scy is a bit much.

I saw this when it came out and really want to try it on my FM-15 upper. It's a bit pricey and I would have to hack up an Aero lower is the only reason I haven't yet but your review makes me feel better about the trigger. Do you think that a larger spacer where it engages the actual trigger in the lower might take up the slack in the pull? That's what I did on a Hightower Armory 90/22.

i love bullpups... i wish SOMEONE WOULD MAKE A GOOD ONE. the best we have is the AUG which came out 200 years ago and it needs a refresh with a handguard. tavor is meh heavy and bulky and awkward, MDR is trash, hellion is a lead weight, FS2000 was cool but they discontinued it instead of updating it. i just want a cool, reliable, well thought out bullpup that isnt overly heavy for no reason with good ergos. maybe someday. i may have to try to build one of these with a JAKL upper or Dissent upper.... hmmm good video

A3 Tactical is making a proper AR-15 conversion kit called the TRIAD. Wont be on sale till January or so of next year though.

I meant to say they are making a proper bullpup conversion kit. That does look like a cool rifle, I don't know anything about its reliability though, and parts are probably impossible to come by in the states.@@mikea.6608

Looks like a cool idea, but I can feel the trigger mush through my monitor. Idk, maybe I'm just spoiled, but "a little creep" is too much. Idk if it's possible to get it to have thousandth inch tolerances, but it'd be nice, combined with a 2lb. "racing" trigger.
