I was 35 and pulled over on the side of the road because I was so overcome with emotion. Others pulled over with me. We all listened to the president speech. I’m a white guy from the south and, for the first time … believed in America. As we listened, African American, Hispanic and whites leaned in to hear my little radio in my pickup. Then we all hugged and cried. Looked to the future and felt great about America. Thank you President Obama.

You have to admit, even though his speech is drawn out, he did a good job of trying to unite people and ignite enthusiasm in his speech. He's a great speaker. He didn't say things like the american people are angry or things like that, he appealed to many different groups and said we all fall on the common identity, Americans. He was the first black president but he didn't use that as a pedestal here but as an achievement for the country's democracy. Classy move.

@Onlyrealmusic4life8 років тому
Phil Buckhouse Honestly when I think of America, I feel like it's not run by the president or congress but the wealthy. Really. That's what America is. The money is what corrupts the government. The greed. It almost seems like Obama was used. You know the way the media is. They can put any spin on it. In the end, though some were angry, his election made America look. It really set a smokescreen for 8 more years of inequality between the rich and poor. Fuck what Obama wanted to actually do though. Right? lol that's what it seemed like his whole 8 years to me. People stopped paying attention after he got elected. This corruption of the election process is now being more heavily scrutinized than ever in this years election. It's now a public debate and conversation how big money influences politics. I watched a video of young Obama talking of his dislike for big money. And I wonder if he likes Bernie and his ideas or if he has changed for good and is now convinced big money is the only way to go in politics. Part of me thinks a little piece of him at his roots wants Bernie to prove him wrong. In essence, when you look at all Obama has done, no, he wasn't that amazing. But he couldn't be. When he had republican vow to block anything he wanted passed the day he was elected, other people saying they wish he would fail(meaning that country would have failed too), etc., his potential was caged.
@thequeen45312 роки тому
@@Onlyrealmusic4life Big money and Congress to me.. are one and the same. His election threatened to upend the status quo. Not just money but class. I love what he stood for in this election and it was amazing that he got to THIS speech carrying the same idealism that won so many over to him from the start. In the end.. At the time when America is voting for the next president. I had to go back in history to a season like this. When the people changed history and the phrase YES WE CAN!!became a reality before our eyes. I was only 10 and watched this prodcast at one of the lecture halls in Kenya and 12 years later a season like this America votes.

I’m still crying at this I’m 2019. I will never forget this moment. I worked at the gap on 5th ave in New York and afterwards me and my co-worker walked to Rockefeller plaza and watch it on a huge screen. It was beautiful to witness this. We were young and jumping around hugging each other with joy.

This was the last election night America truly felt like the United States of America! John McCain’s concession speech truly made me PROUD to be an American! Obama’s victory speech gave me HOPE for America! Both men were the epitome of honor & class!

I put this speech on my ipod and listened to it as I jogged the next morning. At the time in my life i was pondering weather or not I would continue my boxing career and also still picking up the pieces of my personal life after my divorce the previous year. I was inspired for a new beginning and brighter future!

I was in 3rd grade on this night, and I don’t remember it that well. I wish that I did, but i was simply to young to understand how historic this election was. Watching this now at age 21 gives me a nostalgic feeling despite not remembering it that well. It’s a weird feeling but this man was president when i was in middle school and most of high school. I can proudly say I lived through the first black US President in history and will live to tell about it.

@@exponentialcomplexity3051 He really triggered the Trumpies with the vaccine mandate and ending the Afghanistan war
@exponentialcomplexity30512 роки тому
@@jonalderson5571 I support vaccination programs and initiatives but not mandates. And while Trump is also responsible for the Afgan withdrawal, the chaotic exit can be fully blamed on Biden. And remember that Biden and Harris were themselves against vacccines when Trump brought them. They are a bunch of hypocrites. (All politicians are to a degree). I am no Trump fan and Trump has done a lot of shit but so far Biden has been more disappointing. (Though I am looking forward to some of his policies like infra bill and BuildBackBetter and wannna see how it plays out. They seem good on paper but I dont trust them to implement them properly)
@garrettklein77202 роки тому
@@exponentialcomplexity3051 sorry but I'm going to have to call you out on your misinformation that biden and harris were "against vaccines." They never said anything negative about the covid19 vaccine. They both simply said they didn't trust TRUMP but they trusted doctors and scientists.

This is a man who will go down in history as the American president with the most intellect, and as the the most loved and respected leader, even by his opponents - a great man. The depth of love that he feels for his countrymen, and the awesome responsibilities facing him as President, show on the emotions on his face this night. This is not an entirely happy night for him. He has taken on a burden never before experienced by any other president.
