And they are under a Collective Bargaining Agreement so they negotiated those salaries. Why? Because they have no negotiating power when you are a welfare league that has to be bailed out by the NBA. And that agreement runs until 2027 until it's up for renegotiation. How the fk can you ask for more of the revenue when you lose your ass every year? If that happens, they would be paying to play since there is no money. How about all these women up in arms about thr salaries support the league by watching, buying tickets, and merch and stop bitching. Don't complain and not do what it takes to help them

Im pretty sure the WNBA lose $10-$20 million each season cause game attendance has always been low. All joke aside they need to just lower the rim at this point if they need more money. Plain and simple solution that would make the game more entertaining. Everyone can tolerate college games cause of the shorter seasons and higher stakes championships but now when there are more games involved and no dunking, it makes the WNBA harder to watch in the long run. The WNBA reminds me of the 40s - 60s basketball just dribbling and shooting and slower players.

It really shouldn't, there are roughly 40ish regular season WNBA games. A salary for that time which is about 3 months is pretty good, not to mention the WNBA is not profitable right now, the money will come but for now that's as much as they can do and that's a pretty good contract, plus Nike gave her a 20million dollar contract; not only is she financially set but she also has the ability with her star power to bring more eyes to WNBA, which in return will create more money for the league and it's players.

Guys "STOP IT!" I support women in sports but the truth is people come to an NBA game for more than just to see fundamental basketball. They come to the NBA (Men's League) to see the ultimate in athleticism and showmanship! Until a player or the players in the WNBA, start doing 360 floating from the baseline dunks like the men, no one is coming to watch that! They want to see acrobatic play on a spectacular level. It has not happened yet! As long as the NBA exist, the women in the WNBA will never bring that type of attention. Also, the gross profit that the WNBA brings in is no where near what the NBA makes because of that. Also, we keep saying how she will be the MJ of the league when they all already have fantastic players in the league. Don't hype her so much that she becomes a bust. Ijs.

As a Non-American who routinely laughs at women footballers who argue "equal" pay without any context to the actual profitability of their sport.... Even if the WNBA does negotiate a percentage of merchandise sales etc, how would the logistics work if ALL the teams are all in debt? A moot point no....

The WNBA doesn't generate revenue. They've been in the red and financially subsidized by the NBA since their creation. The women are talented but nothing is driving any traffic to watch them and driving revenue up, so what justifies them getting a similar split to NBA players.

The endorsements are co mingled with her playing in the WNBA for 36 games vs 10 in the Big 3. She’s already better off and she hasn’t stepped on the court yet.

It’s a business. The more revenue and tv contracts that are in the billions the more the players get. The WNBA does not bring in the revenue that the NBA brings. Also the WNBA is a young league compared to the NBA.
