California man uses an Apple AirTag to track his stolen car

A man from Long Beach, California, woke up to his see his car was stolen and tracked it down using his Apple AirTag. He called police and found the car at a local gas station.

Cars like BMW already have gps tracking and is literally controllable by your phone. You can even remote start and operate locks, climate and lights

@@oscar7476 Yes, with a fee… like OnStar for GM brands except BMW is bold enough to use it for heated seats as a service. That’s right: things like seat warmers and sensors for high-beam assist come with every BMW but won’t work unless you pay more up front to unlock the functionality at the time of purchase or pay for them as a monthly service. Surely, you’ve heard of it. The latest models are the ones doing this and they need to feel consumer push-back. KTM is doing similar stuff for motorcycles.

@@oscar7476 BMW isn’t going to keep giving you free wireless services in perpetuity when it literally costs them money… especially if they aren’t going to give you the high-beam assist and heated seats that are not costing them money after you buy the car but remain disabled unless you pay up.

Great Job. Now thieves will be looking for hidden AirTags. iPhones can detect an AirTag you don’t own is following your movements. There has been a recent update to Android that also warn non iPhone users an AirTag is following them. If they see that they probably gonna search the car for that tag and then place it in a dumpster somewhere.
