I have 2 tattoos. A bear and a St. Michael tattoo. I saw the line from Leviticus and it scared me because I got my tattoos before I was very religious and it bothered me because I was feeling closer to God. I prayed about this morning to God for forgiveness. He answered my prayer with this video. Praise be to God!🙏

Leviticus also states: ‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material', so it's mainly Jewish prohibitions and the only reference to tattoos in the Bible. I see these comments: ‘Your body is a Temple’ and ‘You don’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley.’ Fair enough, but do you in turn fully respect your body through regular exercise, good nutrition, non-smoking or fasting? Having tattoos is not necessarily a sin, but being obese definitely is because it's linked to gluttony and is, essentially, slow suicide. I have four tattoos, the main one being Psalm 91:2 in Latin on my inner forearm. I had these done to stay in faith and, for me, they work, but everything Fr Mike says here is absolutely correct: glorify the Lord by your actions - and try not to have a tattoo, especially if you’re young. Viva Cristo Rey.

One thing I have to say about tattoos is that getting them is kind of addictive in a weird way. I have one that I got when I was a broke college student. I can 100% say that if I had the money at the time, I would've gotten more. The relief of the pain of getting one being finished, combined with seeing this cool piece of art on you is kind of a rush.

Father Mike's 10 year time line analogy is so perfect....I remember years ago, saying to a friend who questioned my choice of a Tattoo, I said " I'll always want this, I'm 30 years old I know my own mind by now". So......fast forward 20 years later and I was paying big bucks and the real pain of having my tatt laser removed ! Father Mike is sooo right on this one!

My standard for tattoos is whether I would want to have it on my glorified body in heaven. If it’s something I’d be willing to wear on my skin for all eternity, then I’m okay having on my skin now.

I am a Catholic of Irish descent and I have a tatoo of a shamrock. I don't think St. Patrick would be disappointed! I got it at age 60 and I am now 78.I have never been sorry I got it.

Im so glad I found you! I’m new to your channel. I love your attitude. I’m 18 and Protestant Christian, but lately I’ve just been feeling a shift. I’ve never hated Catholicism and I’ve always had an open mind. Ever since I can remember people had always prayed for me and prophesied over me. I’ve heard time and time again that I have a beautiful gift of wisdom and an anointing for ministry, but as I dig deeper into the word and start to get more intimate with God the more it steers me towards Catholicism. I still have a lot to learn, but I was just wondering if you had any videos on converting or if you had advice on it and how to grow in ministry. I will forever seek the truth and hopefully you or someone sees this cuz I’m very curious and seek help. I feel kind of scared and alone to be honest. My family and friends seem to be very against conversion.

I have Jesus in Aramaic on my left ribs. Very small. Couldn’t see it unless I show it to you. But it’s my own personal reminder than Jesus is at my side and in my heart. When times get really hard, I look at it and remember that I am his and he is mine ❤️ I do have other tattoos. Some I regret. Some I don’t. ❤️

I got tattoos because I was depressed and the pain made me feel something. I was very numb after my fiance died in the military. All of my tattoos are for him and I love them all so much because I loved him and he is a part of me forever.

This is by far the best explanation ever. When getting my first tattoo I was in a bad space. Thankfully what I chose defines me. SAVED BY GRACE. Every time someone asks me why I chose it, I remember that it held me together just knowing...He is everything. I am nothing. Yet He says that, I am HIS. That's what it means to me and whether I go left or right, it IS a constant reminder of not just my identity but to live it as His treasured possession as described in the Exodus events. Today, it is one of many that I proudly wear for rest of my life. I love sharing the meaning of all of them in praise of my God.

I regret some of my tattoos but in age I’ve learned to love them. Taught me a lot in people and culture. Still work for a fortune 50 and no regrets.

I honestly don’t regret getting my first tattoo, since I did it out of love. But I’m definitely convinced not to get anymore.

I collected tattoo magazines for years to help me design the perfect tattoo, the ultimate tattoo that would make everyone jealous of how cool and unique it was. After seeing so many great artists do such unbelievable art on people's skin,I realized I will always find something better and wished for something else. 41 years old and still haven't gotten one , even though my brother and sister have one . Now I find cool designs and get custom t-shirts . If you have a tattoo, don't bring yourself down in judgment, but be happy who you are. P.s. Christ is Lord

When I came home with my first tattoo, my dad looked at it, frowned, and said in a calm, even voice, 'that's a nice tattoo, and if I see another one on you, I'm taking off the limb.' I never got another one.

As a religious girl who is also a tattoo lover this helps a lot. I didn't planned to get my full body tattooed, mostly of my tattoo ideas are connected to family members of mine and most of them was also really religious anyways. So they will say how much I appreciated these family members and what they taught me. So I guess that's okay

You sound like a person who is first of all a follower of Jesus, not just a catholic priest. I'm not catholic and I don't really agree with catholic teachings, but man this is good stuff! I love how you put the scripture in context and didn't condemn tattoos and people who want to get one but simply said that it's good to think it trough first. I did know that not all catholics are super legalistic and all that but this still was a pleasant surprise :) keep up the good work bro.

I thought about getting a tattoo when I was young, I never did. I thought about using drugs, I never did. I thought about premarital sex, I never did. I thought about not going to Mass, but I always have gone to Mass and I am thankful I still do.

My wife and I got our first (and only) tattoos when we were on our pilgrimage in the Holy Land. We went to Razzouks in the Old City in Jerusalem, the oldest tattoo parlor in the world. She picked a Jerusalem cross on her ankle. I chose a small cross on my inner wrist with the letters AMDG (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam) on each quadrant, because I'm a product of 17 years of Jesuit education. 😃

Thank you Fr. My son's tattoo is of Mother Mary. When I first saw it I was even confused what to tell him. But I just told it's beautiful. Now I understand.

I was guided to mine. For as long as I can remember, I knew I was going to have one. When the time came I just did it. Looking back I am amazed at how I knew what to get, even at a time I didn’t even know that I liked certain elements of the image. I knew which country I would get it, even if I had never been there before, and didn’t know any tattoo artists or shops prior to going there. I didn’t even research any place. I am amazed at how I met a couple on the plane there and they introduced this tattoo artist to me and it was meant to be. I only knew that it wouldn’t be an image I chose before hand but one that an artist would draw for me. Considering I had had eczema on and off for most my life, tattoos are not exactly a thing that would be encouraged, but I knew it was in my path to have it. So happens this tattoo place was near my hotel, one bus got there directly just a few stops. The few days I was there - btw I went to Australia - every day was raining. In the end, I went on my very last day, it was sunny, and I went directly after landing from jumping off a plane - skydiving. I was still buzzing from the experience, but felt peaceful. Once I got there everything worked like clock-work, so smoothly. I sat down and just knew what elements I wanted and told the artist. He sketched away and immediately designed something amazing. Everything from drawing to inking to done was within an hour. As I mentioned, I had eczema most my life. I wasn’t able to wear necklaces, it would irritate my skin. So I could never wear a crucifix necklace. Counter-intuitively however, I got a tattoo - on my wrist. A cross made up of vines of roses interlocking with two numbers that had appeared in my life over and over during times of darkness / breakthrough. Looking back I am still amazed at how it all happened. At that time I didn’t like roses. Strange how I allowed that to happen. Now, I love roses and the intricate and depth of meaning behind it. The only thing that was intensely clear to me was that my relationship with God was everlasting. So I would never regret that. And rather than a necklace that one takes of. This would follow me everywhere, all the time. To this day, I am so amazed by my experience, and how the perfect artist crossed my path. No one else could’ve done such an intricate design at this scale on my wrist. Really a work of art. Amen. 🥰
